United Artists (1994) 

I remember seeing this logo with Rocky III. The week it opened, I went to one of the last theaters that only played one movie...no multiplex. And there were no previews, trailers, or coming attractions playing before it. So when the film starts, and this logo appears for the first ten seconds, no one knew what was happening. It wasn't until the words UNITED ARTISTS appeared, that everyone started to cheer....because the film was starting.

I don't know why this logo is considered infamous, I think it is great, as United Artist is the greatest studio that has existed.

Hark. This is the United Artist logo I was scared of until I reached my pre-teens.

One thing's for sure. At 30 seconds, it's the longest UA logo.

I saw that too, actually! During a "Best of Bugs" marathon from TBS I had on tape. From what I could tell, it was taped around '93, and it had the same music as this one rather than the original variation.

Joe Harnell did a lot of television work too. He was bandleader on "The Mike Douglas Show" for a time in the 1970's and he was also one of the two "$100,000 Pianists" on "Name That Tune".

I've always thought that this UA logo in particular looked like a bent paperclip.

Duh duh DUH, Duh duh DUH, DUH DUH! I feel like I'm about to see the James Bond intro every time I see this.

I think that UA may have used this logo for the movie Sleep With Me due to the fact that they may not have had the UA Shining Light logo ready yet.

the way it started was very intense sad, and very scary this Logo used to scare the crap out of me the intro was very quiet and dark and creepy especially if I was watching horror movie I was definitely scared as this logo is 1994

@SempiternalDamnation He was one of those middle-rank composers, neither obscure like Don Ellis nor widely famous like John Williams. Among his films, "The Wild Bunch" & "The Enforcer". He died in 1980.

I think I know how they made this... they cut out an metalic U\ and actually filmed it in the dark turning with a shining light on it.... then rotoscoped it and you get this out of it

I like how this was used on the VHS issue of Midnight Cowboy. The logo faded to white and the scene zoomed out to a shot of the drive-in movie screen in the first scene of the movie.

I think it's more sad (melancholic) than scary. All the Idents were good back then pre 85, That analog thing. Check my Greater Union+ Seven Keys idents. Also don't forget Village and Hoyts which were also very good. Its gotta be the pre 84/85 ones though.

I know the story and there's two versions of this fanfare one that i heard was on a film and the one here is still used on UA films and on the new UA logo this company made Hot Tub Time Machine with MGM since MGM is going under bankruptcy then MGM did not close down it stayed but counting making movies or not they have a television division

Me to Regency's fanfare is like a sweet song until it gets into a dramatic music and ends the logo is an R in Regency did you know that Regency did make films with Warner Bros. and other film companies before Fox bought Regency and they make films like Big Moma's house,the live action Alvin And the Chipmunks films and Fantastic Mr. Fox
