Why would you say that? He's only been involved for a few years again since he was last involved. He has been responsible for things improving? He organised the 98 contest and was involved with Katrina and the Waves winning. He also is the person who stopped it being a contest with an audience of elites attending and opened it out to the public which is the contest you see today!

I don't agree. Firstly, in his first tenure as Head for Eurovision in the UK he made the 90s an absolutle powerhouse of quality dare I say modern songs. He also was one of the reasons the contest left studios and are in these grand concert halls we see today. When he returned in 2014 he has been making tiny steps to improve the UK quality, yes we've had some few steps back moments, but with him in charge he is willing to LISTEN. The UK delegation are a lot more humble since he's taken over. And not only that, since Guy Freeman has returned to the BBC he has done a few decent things outside of Eurovision. One is the BBC Music Awards which gets better and more grand scale each year in its direction (Helen Riddell co-Head of Delegation is also instrumental in this). There's a few things the UK do need to improve on but I appreciate that he is willing to LISTEN. Just like they have this year: revamped the song, took great detail in to creating a thoughtful staging.
