@@SorokingProd30 yeah and the Olympics is this summer. Baseball is an Olympic sport. It will have all of the same teams, and players. It will literally be the same tournament. It’s the exact same thing with soccer and hockey. There’s a world tournament every two years. World Cup, then Olympics, then World Cup, then Olympics.

@@Spearca it has to stay short until its popularity demands more games since they use MLB talent the franchises control over players will hold up the players play and prevent large amounts of games

@@Jaime16921 it also run right into the start of the MLB seasons so a lot of star players may refuse to participate the later games out of scheduling conflict (iirc Ohtani was not really supposed to pitch for the finals because he's one of the starting pitchers for next season), plenty of US pitchers already did not participare out of fear for getting themselves injured right before an MLB season so unless WBC moved their entire tournament early by a month or two I doubt adding games would've been feasible

They took out North America in 2 very high tense games! Ohtani was definitely the difference maker.

@@Jaime16921 As an American, I wish we'd have won, but Japan was the better team. The thing is we threw our best at the world (which you couldn't have said b4 every time) and so did all the other countries. It all made for some scintillating sport, so I can't be too disappointed.

Queda demostrado que las suerestrellas japonesas tienen mayor compromiso con su país que las de USA. Yo no vi a ningún pitcher americano de los verdaderos tops en el equipo. Excepto Adam Ottavino y Ryan Pressley, los otros pitchers no eran los tops de USA. Gerrit Cole, Dylan Cease, Zack Wheeler, Max Scherzer, Jacob de Grom, Shane Bieber, Max Fried, Justin Verlander. Mira qué cantidad de talento se quedó fuera, porque no quisieron ir. Sin embargo, al team Japón fueron todos los jugadores de élite, absolutamente todos. No puedes soltar que la liga japonesa es la mejor y quedarte así tranquilo, porque no es cierto. De hecho, los mejores jugadores japoneses juegan en la MLB. La MLB tiene el mejor talento del mundo.

@@alxm1271 los jugadores japoneses juegan en Estados Unidos porque las grandes ligas se juega en USA ya que es un deporte creado y formado por los americanos. A parte de eso. En Estados Unidos es donde pagan más dinero. Han hecho 5 clásicos mundiales de los 5 3 veces a ganado Japón 1 vez Rep-Dom y 1 vez Estados Unidos. Hay que ser un poco ignorante decir que la liga japonesa no es la mejor. Grandes ligas es donde juegan los mejores del mundo pero son 30 equipos. En un clásico mundial no van los 30 equipos sino una selección nacional

Because it was. This is the actual World Series, with players from several nations and baseball leagues around the world, instead of two teams from the same country.

@@davidmorales886 well the regular world series still deserves its title because the MLB is the highest level of pro baseball and contain a mix of players from around the world and the best of the best of that year play a World Series to be crowned best in the world that year. Its fine.

I remember hearing that they've been trying to make it happen if the US and Japan ever faced each other in the tournament.

It is ironic that finishing second, actually helped USA to reach the finals. Semis vs my good, but much weaker Cuban team was a blessing to US. I don't think US would have won a semis vs Japan.
