I bought 1 of these units and I really like them for 2 purposes. Taking them on holidays on lower end hotels or airbnbs where there's no gym, and for use in my office. I mainly use them for tricep extensions, seated rows, curls and standing shoulder presses. I find it's particularly effective for dumbbell/hammer curls as I can set the eccentric resistance to be up to double of the concentric ones, which gives me a pump I could never get with dumbbells. And using handles rather than a bulky dumbbell, I can get crossbody bicep/hammer curls closer to my body than I could with dumbbells. The shoulder presses also work great, 20kg resistance is sufficient for my maintenance needs on holidays. Just strap it to a door or bedpost and get at it.

I thought Unitree was a great idea. But I had issues with it shutting down and not starting for a long time. i returned it and bought a cable tower. I also agree that the resistance isn't heavy enough. They did tell me that they are working on that.

I agree, it’s a great idea but not perfectly executed just yet. I think they’ll keep working to improve on it. Sucks that yours stopped working entirely but I’m glad you were able to return it and get something that works better for you.

@@KaizenDIYGym The cable tower works much better for me. Now I need to see how i can add a way to do better cable flys :)

I was looking for something like this to travel with too. I was hesitant as it seems they’ve posted in a few places they’re upgrading it in August.

It is probably a good idea to wait unless you can find it used.

something like this would be great, I'm always on the go for work being states away from my home gym for weeks at a time

Yeah, It's probably one of the best travel options. I haven't used it while traveling yet but I will definitely try it on the next trip.

I got one of these for the eccentric overload. But the Synapse CCR proved much better.

I could see this as good for some isolation work, especially for rotator muscles, tib, or forearms.

I didn’t think about that but you’re right

Would be nice to have smth like this around $50-150 for a set. No app. Good for the apartment to hit rotator cuffs and small cable accessories. Just something different from bands...

Yeah, I agree with all of that.

According to Unitree, it's not magnetic - which would be super - it's got a motor pulling against the cord for resistance. I wish someone made something like this with magnetic resistance. It wouldn't need batteries and would be nice and smooth to use and easy to adjust without an app.

I think that would be a fun topic. Don’t know how many people would want to watch but I’d enjoy it.

That's a lot of money for sometime so restrictive

Yeah, it's not cheap and it does have limitations. Whether or not it is worth the cost really depends on how much you'd use it. Like I said, being a home gym owner I probably wouldn't buy one to use at home, but I will be taking this little box on my next vacation.

Sorry you lost me at 44 lbs of resistance. Thats like the adjustable dumbbell set at Ross that only goes up to 25 lbs

That is a bummer about this unit. It would be cool if you could add additional resistance like you can with Ancore

I can definitely understand that. I think the prices will eventually come down as these types of boxes become more and more common.
