As far as I can tell there are API changes from Unity 2022 to Unity 6 but every single one of the API changes can be dealt with a single button press and had no issues so far.
On the awards thing, Stray won indie game of the year last year. If a studio has enough funding to mo-cap a fucking cat, they aren't indie. Awards shows really are just fucked, don't get too discouraged for not getting many awards nominations. They really are just marketing where the nominated get some free exposure and the nominators get to choose who represents their brand.
