Great asset. We already have most of these in free assets but the one you pin objects from the hierarchy is definitely the best in my eyes. Finally switching between the player and the game manager without having to mark them... I also love the animation when opening/closing
@@SpeedTutor you have no idea how long I have been waiting for a major editor qol upgrade. I had to talk with their project manager TWICE about it until they added the stuff I want... 😂
vInspector works fine with Odin, but Odin will override vInspector’s attributes, so you can’t have Odin's and vInspector's attributes on the same script. Other than that there won’t be any conflicts
The most important thing is that we dont have to write any kind of custom inspector script and all functions can be either used by toggle or from one line code like the ReadOnly or the button feature , everything that this tool provides are useful and time saver for any developer .
@@SpeedTutor yes, but it was a pain having to write custom editors for each script, i ended up using Odin, but this made the scripts so visually disgusting, having to put lots of attributes above the variables and so on
Hard to pick one feature when as a dev there are so many features that can make our lives better. Honestly, it's all so helpful I couldn't pick just one.
Thanks for sharing this, was on my way of making a custom inspector myself to address some of these things. This seems to cut it and above, so many nice features! The HideIf + Dropdown and tabs seems to be most useful for me. But all other feature, like the copy/pasting components is gonna be super helpful as well!
Quite a few nice features - what I'd like most is probably the easy option to add a button and the various way to hide properties temporarily (either by folding or the switch)
So many excellent attributes, but for me, it's a tossup between ShowIf and Variants. But save in play mode is also fantastic. This asset has some great features!
@@SpeedTutor I'm working on a 3d metroidvania where a viking smashes robots and takes parts of them to gain new powers. Next full release I'm hoping to make a third person survival horror. I made another one for a game jam and had a blast so I'm looking to get back to making another one.
I think my favourite is the Variants, this save too many steps, don't even need to create a enum, able to limit a field's value , I can see how good it will be if use it with showifs/hideifs, very useful.
Very coo! The ability to pull components out of the Inspector is pretty nifty & I like the idea of being able to save the changes I've made in Play mode (I frequently set things up & then copy/paste them from Play mode to my hierarchy after which gets it done but isn't ideal).
I love the hide script field feature. it's a subtle detail, that doesn't really add functionality, but makes everything look so much cleaner and a clean Inspector is a good Inspector.
@@SpeedTutor yeah absolutely. I would probably use every feature of the asset, because they all seem either really useful in a functional manner or improve the inspector visually, which are both important aspects. it's also not bloated with too many features, but strikes a good balance to only add what seems generally most useful.
This tool is crazy good. I have their Vhierarchy and VFolder and VRuler. I am definitely going to get this now that you've actually demonstrated all of its features in detail. I think for me I would probably use a lot of the Button/Call Function feature, not that it's its best feature but one I would use a lot, for debugging most likely. Thanks for another awesome video. I'm off to the lake this weekend to enjoy the water during the day and the mosquitoes at night. I'll probably get it after I comeback and the amazing APK asset too, maybe you've heard of it.
Geesh, all those features are awesome! It's hard to pick one, but I think I fancy component windows the most. It's something I've always wanted to be able to do, and now I can! ☺ Great video! Thanks! 🙏
My favourite feature is the hidden bool! Its could really make my code look cleaner by hiding away values from code that is toggled out and currently not being used.
@@SpeedTutor It really bothered me when I lost open folder or asset by mistake when I clicked wrongfully. vTabs solved this pain elegantly and sped up the process when I needed to find something. Now I can just leave it open in a tab. It feels very natural.
@@SpeedTutor yes I try to have them in most of my projects because it makes working with multiple objects easy, just add a script to a object and config easily from dropdowns and fill in few fields
@@SpeedTutor Of course. And those you shared, look just enormous time savier. Being able to write [Button]/[HideIf]/[Variants] instead of writing separate script... those guys nailed it =)
Hi Matt, I'm in the middle of converting my PC game to Xbox . I've got the mouse party done by using the Xbox controller. But the level selector that uses buttons on the PC version doesn't go well on the Xbox version. I thought I used raycasts to select gameobject for PC but it doesn't work on Canvas. Don't suppose the best way of getting round this.? (I'm using 3d box collider visually in the same place as the buttons(UI) but obviously there not in the same place, and HD and 4K change the places again ....arrrggh 😮😢
What input system are you using? As you can just use the EventSystem to control what buttons should be interacted with. I always use rewired because it does a great job but you want to make sure you always give the EventSystem the button you want when you enter a new screen, so it always knows which is first, then it will automatically navigate between the rest of the items on screen. :)
@@SpeedTutor I've sorted it Matt !, instead f using the UI and ray casts (4 the Xbox controller) (which ray cast I was using don't work on the UI) I've done the selection menu with actual "Scenes" of the levels so they're 3D Objects which I can use the Ray casts. OH, I hope your eye OP went OK, m8 !
@@SpeedTutor wow, very strange, when I opened it using Chrome, it is going but using Edge it is not. It says to clear your cookies, I did but, still cannot open using edge.
Is this similar to Odin Serializer and Inspector? Can you use them both simultaneously or should you just pick one or the other? vInspector 2 seems easier to use, I haven't quite figured out Odin yet. Then again, Odin seems more powerful. Words of advice?
Hi, we chatted in email couple days ago :) vInspector is more intuitive and easier to use than Odin, but has less attributes. If you use them at the same time Odin will override vInspector's attributes by default, but Odin can be disabled for specific scripts, so you can use Odin's attributes in one script and vInspector's in another. One more thing to consider is that Odin, unlike vInspector, isn't a lightweight asset and may add about 1s to recompile time
