I noticed a lot of comments about the credits. I glanced through and saw it was about two minutes long, so I didn't take the time to read all the names. No disrespect to those who worked on the video-their names are on the original. And yes, I missed that Floor Jansen sang at the end. The last Sabaton video didn't have long credits. Like most moviegoers, when the credits roll, I'm out. Same case here. Let's move on. Now I know for the next video.

Don't worry about the names. I can't read 95% of them either despite trying a couple dozen times! They're largely Czech names that I can't pronounce even though my "Tomashofski" heritage is a name that came from Czechoslovakia through Austria/Hungary during the late 1800's. And I still can't read 'em! 🤣 But it's impressive to notice all the many job descriptions (which are in English) and go holy wow, this was a big-ass production! Must have cost a million bucks to make and produce.

I was trained by my parents when we went to the theatre or the cinema to get up quickly to avoid the rush for the exit. However when we went to Amadeus which we saw in the second IMAX cinema in Bradford in the UK The entire audience stayed to listen to the piano concerto that played over the title sequence no-one moved until the lights went up.

Well you have been hammered enough for missing the beautiful outro music and vocals (and clearly the song did hit home for you) so I'll just recommend Sabaton's 'No Bullets Fly' for another one that shows even more directly how humanity can trancsend the political situation. Go for the extended animated story book edition - and of course watch to the very end 🙂

Please go back later and watch and listen to the end credits, as others have mentioned female vocals there by Floor Jansen. 2021 is when the video was made and released. The video was made by people that usually DO make movies. Filmed during lockdown, when moviemaking also stopped. Lead singer, Joakim Broden, has said this song is more of a waltz. First soldier out of the trenches in drummer Hannes van Dahl (Floor's hubby), first out on the other side is guitarist Chris Rorland, battlefield solo by now former guitarist Tommy Johansson, bassist Par Sundstrom is at the cross at the end. #LestWeForget. Next from Sabaton? Try Animated Story Videos for "No Bullets Fly" or "Night Witches".

Absolutely! The credits is a part of this whole song. But it's not just that, but considering the enormous amount of work and effort, they put in their music videos (and as well in the composing of the end credit sound), I think it is more than fair, to appreciate all those people in the background and their work to this masterpiece (an there where a lot of them for this video).

Significance of the "2021" carving in the cross: Harken back to the chorus, "Our moment of peace in a war that never ends." Par is telling us 1914-2021, that war STILL has not ended. The war is a flaw within humans ourselves moreso than the actual "declared" war and active combat.

The first Christmas of WW1 is what this song is about. The soldiers of both sides got together exchanged food and cigarettes, played soccer (British won). When the officers of both sides found out what they had done, They weren't happy and every Christmas after that (1915, 16 and 17) there was always either an attack or artillery barrages so the Christmas of 1914 wasn't repeated.

The story about the truce is a bit more complicated. The Pope Benedictus XV Had asked the involved countries to "let the guns fall silent , at Christmas Eve. None would even consider that option. How ever, the soldiers in the trenches where suffering and the took the initiative to seize fire. Not everywhere on the front just here and there. And then the miracle happened. The soldiers started to sing Chrismas songs on both sides and eventually came together, like in the video, in no mans land. At some places the truce even held till New Years Eve. On the other side, some troops had to be transferred. Because it became hard to fire at faces you knew. Another miracle was, that nobody was courts marshalled or punished.

Do check out the full version of Night Witches - a story I had never heard of before and so cool. This song is emotional for me. The terror and trauma those poor trench soldiers lived and died through was disasterous. My Papa gathered dogtags & identifying info from fallen soldiers in belgium during these battles. He had lied about his age to be a soldier, and they set him to this grisly duty when they found out he was only 16. He was very traumatized and moved away to Canada at 18 by himself. Never spoke of it with people. Sabaton really captures the emotions and amazing moment of calm in the hell they were in.

The Christmas Truce has become one of the most famous and mythologised events of the First World War. But what was the real story behind the truce? Why did it happen and did British and German soldiers really play football in no-man's land? Late on Christmas Eve 1914, men of the British Expeditionary Force (BEF) heard German troops in the trenches opposite them singing carols and patriotic songs and saw lanterns and small fir trees along their trenches. Messages began to be shouted between the trenches. The following day, British and German soldiers met in no man's land and exchanged gifts, took photographs and some played impromptu games of football. They also buried casualties and repaired trenches and dugouts. After Boxing Day, meetings in no man's land dwindled out. The truce was not observed everywhere along the Western Front. Elsewhere the fighting continued and casualties did occur on Christmas Day. Some officers were unhappy at the truce and worried that it would undermine fighting spirit. After 1914, the High Commands on both sides tried to prevent any truces on a similar scale happening again. Despite this, there were some isolated incidents of soldiers holding brief truces later in the war, and not only at Christmas. In what was known as the 'Live and Let Live' system, in quiet sectors of the front line, brief pauses in the hostilities were sometimes tacitly agreed, allowing both sides to repair their trenches or gather their dead.- Imperial War Museum www.iwm.org.uk/history/the-real-story-of-the-christmas-truce

Thing is, they didn't quite go back to shooting at each other the next day. In any case, they hit the target very poorly. It's harder to kill people you know who they are. So the commanders had to move the groups around to other places, so they didn't have to shoot the ones they celebrated Christmas with, and then it was strictly forbidden to do it again the next Christmas

@@teckreactions There wasn't? Sure there was. Most of these videos have little gems that you can't perceive by screaming the cursor through the remaining timeline at Warp Factor 7 and seeing only tiny little thumbnails. Also, you can't hear Floor's beautiful, tear-jerking operatic vocal. A real shame to miss such beauty in exchange for a few minutes of haste. Her husband Hannes, btw, was the German soldier who got stunned by the hand grenade and was the first to climb out of the trenches.

@@teckreactions I shouldn't have said "most of these videos" because that's not really correct. I should have said "some of these videos," as that is more accurate. Particularly with Nightwish and Epica, they most often contain little things that add something fun to the experience, even if it is just something as simple as a cute or funny comment made by one of the musicians at the very end, like Floor's little "Woo-hoo!" as she walks off stage after her duet with Simone, or Marco's "It's a tango country" at the end of a Celtic-like dance song in Buenos Aries. Other bands maybe not so much... nothing to miss. But in this case, the hidden gems were 1) Floor's beautiful vocal outro to give a "cooldown" period to let the emotions of the whole Christmas Truce story sink in and settle instead of cutting them off before a full appreciation of the melancholy theme of war and the humanity buried beneath it. 2) After curiously thinking all through the outro that, gee that voice sounds familiar, seeing the surprise notation inserted near the very end of the credits "Outro Vocals: Floor Jansen" when one knows that she is Hannes' wife and imagining a little comedic sketch in one's head: Video production manager says, "You know what? I'd really love to have an operatic soprano do an outro for this vid." Hannes says, "OK, I got one of them at home. I'll bring her to work tomorrow." 3) Just glancing at all the credits to get a gobsmacked appreciation for how much work actually went in to this production--- Way above and beyond what most any other band would do for a singles video.

I love this song, glad you got a round tuit!! If you have an affinity for Christmas music in a metal way....the general population of Finland loves metal music so much that every Christmas season an ever-changing group of metal musicians gets together to perform mostly traditional Christmas music to metal in a concert series they call 'Heavy Christmas.'' It often features famous musicians including Floor Jansen and Marko (from Nightwish) performing Ave Maria, and a personal favorite of mine is Floor performing 'O Holy Night' in Finnish for a Finnish audience, while very pregnant in 2016! Enjoying your journey of discovery to a lot of music I already know and love!🤘

None of you wanted to be there, so why are you the ones rotting in the ground for this? I will have to add about your remarks about the Trump assassination attempt - without political bias - that the phrase "this is not who we are" really just rings hollow. Six presidents have been shot. Three of them fatally. This is who you are, whether you like it or not. Not you personally, but it's just the reality.

@@Ryszze I did not say it was low. I was disagreeing with your comment that "this is who you are." That's not correct. We've had 46 Presidents in our 248 year history. Just because it's happened a few times does not make "who we are." Comparisons to other countries is unhelpful.

@teckreactions
@teckreactions Месяц назад
@@Ryszze That's a great question. I would venture to say that who we are -- are the ideals that make America great. Unfortunately, much of those ideals have been co-opted by people who want to control them and yield power. And we have politicians willing to trample on the Constitution to have whatever power they can get. But I'm also overly optimistic because our system exists in a way where it balances itself out, even if we're in a wild season.
