Thanks for putting this out..for free. Loved seeing the way Mark thinks about polarity/phase of the drums. The band is awesome as well. Just picked up some of their music. Looking forward to the next videos.

Absolutely brilliant. This just confirms that with a full Apollo system you can just do anything.

I love to see when these kinds of things use Chicago studios. I tend to use my home studio for most of my work but when my clients want to use a commercial studio, the crc is one of the three that I use

Great series!! Can't wait to see the rest of them. Everyone involved is top notch. I've known Marc a long time and he is brilliant engineer who goes to great lengths for tone and at the same time, he's entirely pragmatic about gear. This demonstrates something else that's important in tracking and mixing- Fantastic musicians, performances and ARRANGEMENT. The War on Peace guys are all badasses! Keep it up dudes!

Great video, find the performance direction really interesting on this... rather than looking at manipulating vowel sounds and rising the soft palette, he asks the singer to raise eyebrows. I understand what he is getting at but perhaps the sense of a more open mouth sound by raising the soft palette would be useful to access the upper register. Difficult though to get across.. might try this.....We all are all always learning. Am a big fan of stacked compressors each contributing some control and density. Great video, thanks!!

What's that 251(?) doing behind the kit? Also, it would be awesome if these multitracks become available for download!

@marcdanielnelson317 6 лет назад
Hi Angelo, I believe the 251 wasn't used for the tracking part of the drum session. As I wanted to showcase the Towsend Labs mics on the OH of the drums.

I thought the same, looking at the Apollo 8P in the last frames, it shows it's at 44.1kHz... I thought they'd at least do 48?
