@@TOOMUCHSAUCE91 orange is on mine. You both were smart, I thought the manual instructions followed, along w/patience & persistence I'd have it accomplished in
It took me 2 minutes. Turned on AC (it is hot in TX in July) and took a cold beer with me expecting to work on it for 30 minutes at least. Great video, thanks!
Was struggling for 30 minutes trying to read the owners manual in my 2020 ST! Watched this video and it worked the first try, thank you! Surprised to see comments calling it confusing 😂
I have had some issues with Homelink over the years on certain vehicles but this took less than two minutes on a 2014 Mustang. Instructions are spot on. 1.) Cleared any previous codes holding the two outer buttons. 2.) Then held handheld transmitter next to the button i wanted and pressed both in about 30 seconds, it flashed and turned solid red. 3.) Then hit rolling code learn button on garage door base, came back to car and pressed the button i wanted for 2 seconds let go then pressed again and it learned rolling code and closed garage door. Easy.

Thank you for commenting here today for displaying how very smart and cool and important you are. Wow. 50 seconds of the video and you programmed your garage door opener successfully. Amazing. Took me 6 or 7 complete watch throughs. But not you. Not the Great Smart One. Incredible. We are blessed today, Internet. Truly blessed. Now you may go BasicKnowledge. Go bless the rest of the internet with the wisdom you hold. With how EXCEPTIONALLY smart you are. You’ve shown us. Now you must go and show others. Tried programming my 2018 Ford Edge SEL by using both the garage remote button and the Homelink center button several times to no avail. I even made sure all old codes were cleared. I went back to the owners manual (pg 148) and performed the alternative method by pressing the "Learn" button on the garage door opener motor housing, pressed and held the Homelink button for several seconds twice and on the third press it worked.
@@rannadesai360 you have to push the button on the actual garage (by the light) after you do the initial part. Shown in this video. Once you do that, go back to your car and push the selected button once more and will flash rapidly and the garahe door will close or open
Don't waste your time using your regular opener and button on visor. Hold "Learn" button on door control box then press and hold a button on your visor for 2 seconds. Saves time and worked for us after 2 attempts!
"If your transmitter stops working while you're programming, you'll have to hold the function button while you press the transmitter every 2 seconds." What does this even mean
Huh, I never was with you. This is so confusing and hard to follow. It also seems ambiguous. Tried watching it several times and just got more confused.
I have the 2018 f150 lariat and i was wondering if i could program thes too work with my wireless controller for my light bar, since i have ditch lights, a bull bar with a light bar and reverse lights, as the lariat didn't come with the aux switches like the raptor or the super-duty, as i dint wanna drill holes on my dash
So I have a 2015 Ford Escape and all my buttons started as a rapid flashing. So that means they are already programmed to another garage door. You will need to reset the homelink unit. Press the outter 2 buttons for 8seconds or so. Then all your buttons should flash slow like the video. I had success only by having the garage door remote next to the unit. I have all Chamberlain Openers.
steve71 press and hold the first button, and the last button until the pattern of the light flashing changes. Take your remote, and press and hold the button that controls the door, and also hold the button that you want to control the door. When it starts to flash rapidly, release both the remote button and the homelink button. You do NOT need to press the learn button on Chamberlain garage door openers
Thank you Oliver! Once I cleared the old codes with far left and right 8 second hold - my programming worked as you described. Ford Flex 2013 - Chamberlain c253.
@Ford Motor Company - Excellent idea to make this video, however, the directions are too vague. For example, * "turn on your car." - Accessory mode or drive mode? * 1st step indicates to press garage transmitter and the HomeLink button. You might want to warn user this will cause the garage door to open (or close if already open). * "press the HomeLink button" - Which one, the middle one or anyone of the three? Arrows in the video would have also clarified this. * After the getting the fast blink, does user release both buttons or continue holding one of them before proceeding to the next step which is to pick the HomeLink button that will control the garage door? * "press and hold the button on your HomeLink that you want to control your garage door." - Again, any button or only the ones on the ends (because the HomeLink logo and light above middle button implies that is a special button, meaning it's only used for paring?). * 1:23 "press and hold the function button" - which one is the "function button?" There's more after this point but I (hope!) you get the point. And why isn't this information in the vehicle's owner's manual? If it is, it certainly is not in an obvious place to find it. And based on the number and type of comments to this video, clearly I'm not the only one that could not find any instructions on how to do this. Come on Ford, you can do better!
If you DO NOT NEED TO ROLLOVER (aka just need to reprogram 1 garage door) to completely reset your Homelink press and hold the left and right buttons at the same time until the light flashes rapidly. This will allow you to reprogram the easy way as shown in the first half of the video if you already have a transmitter.
Here it is 2022, and on a 2019 Ford Edge this is what worked for me. I'm guessing I don't need to worry about that second step, and I don't need to worry about the fact that the homelink in my edge always blinks when you push the button to open the garage door it does not go solid. It's opening and closing the garage door just fine.
@@jacquelinedalm9325 well if/when I try to do it I'll post on here let me know if you get around to it before I do as we are still digging fence post holes so the project is not yet complete
2019 ford flex. I tried this method a couple of times it didn't work for me. I ended up looking in the owners manual and stumbled across programming in the security section pg72. Press the program button on the garage door opener then pressed and held the home button 3 times holding for 2 seconds each time. Worked on the first try. Also I have a genie garage door.
How do you do it if you don't have a transmitter? I have a button inside my garage to open it which I have to get out of my car, open the side garage door and press the button to open the main garage door. Would it work to use this button to program the car opener? 2013 Flex
The problem is the creator of the video knows how to program these in their sleep. The rest of us does this once every 2 - 4 years so it’s not straight forward. I held the remote button and homelink button simultaneously the homelink light flashed FAST then SLOW then FAST I released both buttons pressed the homelink button two or three times and it WORKED!
This was super easy to follow and worked the first time I tried it on my new truck for my gate. I don’t know why everyone else had trouble but worked great for me.
Wasnt working on '17 Explorer but figured it out by having (Linear brand) garage door Remote and cars Homelink Sun visor remote. First climb into car but do not start. Physically ouch garage remote to Homelink visor remote. Press and hold Homelink button until it starts to flash rapidly, press and hold garage door remote (Both are now being pressed simultaneously) until homelink times out and red light on car sun visor goes out. Then it worked for me.
Wondering what other people's experience is with a 2019 Ford Edge, my homelink transmitter always flashes as it is opening and closing the garage door, it does not go solid. The buttons that go solid when I press them are the buttons that are not programmed. Is this just a discrepancy in the instructions? Will the homelink that I have programmed that is working eventually stop working?
I would guess that it is programmed to do the flashing letting the user know that it is working properly. Being that the above video was made in 2017 there are 2 years worth of upgrades and changes affecting many functions on the vehicle. I have the 2018 Edge SEL. My comment above documents my experience programming my Homelink.
I just tried on my 2012 fusion, 2013 f-150, and 2015 flex. All have never been hooked up to another garage door and I can’t seem to get any of them work doing everything said in this video
I know Ford wont answer this, we just purchased a 2020XLT not knowing it didnt come with a garage door opener on the sun visor, I believe the door opener on the sun visor works directly with your garage door opener, is it possible just to swap out the sun visor with one that has a garage door opener ?? I am not clear on this, the dealer want to to slip us into a more expensive car
This didn't work with my garage. I decided to follow the directions on my garage door receiver vs what was in this video and in the vehicle manual and it worked. For those who haven't had any luck, maybe try the steps I took to see if it works for you too. NOTE: you will need TWO people to do this! 1. Turn your car on (keeping it outside of the garage so the door doesn't shut on it accidentally) 2. Person 1 should press and hold the button inside of your vehicle that you want to program to your garage door. 3. While they are holding that button in, Person 2 should press and release (do not hold) the "learn button" on the receiver inside the garage. 4. Person 1 can release their button from within the car and it should work. Hope this helps someone else!
To reset the programming you hold the middle visor button down for 20 seconds until you see it slowly blinking. Do not release the button. Keep holding it down and proceed to step 1 (I posted instructions in the comment section above). I was so frustrated that I decided to write it all out. Hope this helps!
So mine works but only to about 30’, so I have to hit the button when I pull into the drive way and it opens. When I’m on the street it won’t work, I have extended the antenna on my craftsman to the front of the house and the same thing does anyone have a solution other than getting a new craftsman remote.
I have a 2013 Ford Edge and am trying to train the Homelink button to operate my lift master LA400 automatic gate. I've tried every which way and cannot get it to work. I've contacted Liftmaster and they don't support Homelink anymore. I've contacted Homelink and was walked through all the steps I've been doing repeatedly to no avail and still no joy. I was able to program the Homelink previously just following the steps in the Ford manual. I had to change out the control board in the LA400 and now Homelink won't program. Anyone out there have any ideas??
“Press and hold the LEARN button on your garage door opener”… word to the wise, check the instructions on the garage door opener first. Holding the LEARN button might clear all your remotes… I learned the hard way I only had to press the LEARN button once and spent another 15 minutes relearning all the remotes. 😝
unsavorycharacter id does not matter which button in a car you choose. They all have same function. You can Programm each button for different doors, that’s why there are 3 of them
Just got a new Fusion. Was surprised to see the garage door buttons. I left my Garage door opener In my other car. But will be programming it tomorrow. I love Fusions, this is my second one.
My garage door required pushing the "learn" button on back of opener AND doing it three times! About a 15 year old Lift Master system. A little bit of a pain, but got it to work.
Fred Flintstone Same for me. 10-15 year old LiftMaster. Removed light cover on the LiftMaster, pressed the Learn button, run to my new Escape, and held the button I wanted for 5 seconds.
