Universal's Islands of Adventure (also known as Islands of Adventure or IOA), originally called Universal Studios Islands of Adventure, is a theme park located in Orlando, Florida. It opened on May 28, 1999, along with CityWalk, as part of an expansion that converted Universal Studios Florida into the Universal Orlando Resort. The resort's slogan Vacation Like You Mean It was introduced in 2013.
Islands of Adventure is modeled after a journey of exploration, where guests embark on an adventure to visit a variety of themed islands. Initially, the park featured six islands. A seventh, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, was added in 2010, themed to the highly successful Harry Potter franchise. It was Universal's largest investment since the resort's founding in 1990. The expansion led to a significant increase in attendance, and in 2013, Islands of Adventure ranked seventh domestically and eleventh internationally after hosting approximately 8.1 million guests.[3] The eighth island, Skull Island, opened on July 13, 2016, and is themed to the King Kong franchise.

We are in the works of planning our first ever trip to Florida! Going with a friend and our 21 year old daughters. So exciting! I have to say, did not realized how big Universal park was. WoW! The girls love rides and I think they would love the big thrilling rides here and at Universal park (just finished that video). Thanks for information, very helpful! First One Is Universal Studios Islands Of Adventure Theme Park Which Is A Bit Like Chessington World Of Adventures. Second One Is The Flagship Universal Studios Florida Theme Park Which Is First Opened Is Doors On June 7th 1990 By The Beginning Of The Early 1990's In The 20th Century. Your videos are so informative! I am looking at Florida for the first time next Easter. My boys would be 9 and 11. I feel like they will love islands of adventure, volcano bay and universal studies. I think we would go for 11 nights. Would we massively miss out if we didn’t do Disney as well?

For me, Orlando is a far from where I live, so if I travel there, I will usually do Universal and Disney. 11 days is quite a lot for the Universal Resort. Have considered doing a split stay? Like 6 days at Disney and 5 days at Universal?

Sounds like a perfect trip. You won’t miss too much. Islands for the adventure And volcano bay for a pool day nothing too special in Disney world except the castle. And Star Wars which has long lines always but worth it lol

As an Orlando native who does all the parks. You really don't need 11 nights at these 3 parks. Only 12-15 rides at each park, really. I wouldn't say you're missing out by not going by Disney. Universal is a vacation in itself. But Disney does have more to do as a vacation.

I have 3 questions Disney park addict. 1. What rollacoster would you suggest riding the most? 2. What is your favorite non rollacoster ride? 3. I got to universal on a Sunday in February during Mardi Gras break in Louisiana so would the ride times be lower on a Sunday than a Saturday? Thanks for the tips Disney Park Addict.

1. Hagrids, it's a lot better for the head! 2. Got to be Spider-man (It's my favorite in the park) 3. I don't think there will be too much difference as they are both during the weekend.

@@themepark101 I’d agree, when I went to islands of adventure, I rode velocicoaster, but we got the back row, and my head was hurt for the rest of day, luckily we got a annual pass. Maybe it’s bad luck,

I would say 2-3 days is best, maybe more if you want to try Volcano Bay. 😀

We're not big on rollercoasters, I sometimes get sick, I can do rides like buzzlight year, are there any rides to stay away from ? will there be enough rides for us to do?

Obviously Hulk and Velocicoaster are the big coasters, but everything else should be ok. The Harry Potter ride can give some people motion sickness, but I felt fine after riding it. You'll have plenty of rides and other things to do in the park! 😁

Great question. I would head to Hagrids first. Much more relaxing compared to the Hulk and Velocicoaster.

We are going to Orlando next week Tuesday til Friday . Debating between Universal or Islands of adventure . Have a 6 and 8 year old . Leaning towards islands of adventure. Any advice ? Or better days to go ?

If your up for it, you could do both the parks in one day? But with a 6 and 8 year old, that might be tough. I think Islands would be best right now, and as long as you are going mid-week, you should be golden.

Taking my kids ages 13-22 the day I wanted to go universal studios they close early at 6pm 😢 I could go to island of adventure they are open till 9pm or should we wait till a Saturday when universal studios open till 10p they are not all into the hard-core roller coasters and studio seem to have more simulator rides. What's your thoughts studios or island

That's a tough choice. I would say Islands has more attractions overall, but like you said, Studios has more dark rides, so it's totally up to you! Either way, you'll have a great day! 😀

Oh, I know it is its own island officially and on the maps. I just think they're out of their minds plopping one ride down and calling it a land. I'd consider it to be part of Jurassic Park if anything. But it's kind of it's own weird thing. @@themepark101

I think it's kind of gross that people can pay money to make someone's day bad... when someone purposely soaked me after I was able to avoid the water.. they actually ruined my day and my hair. I have issues I won't bother going into but I wear my hair down for that. It's just gross that people want to hurt others. For what? They laughed about it. I hope karma hit them 10x what they did to me. I was a child.
