At the request of the person... I will not mention who it was, but I have a family member who worked on this game. The original concept was: The arcade room was going to be the place you'd earn tokens to go on rides. Arcade games were ranging from Universal trivia or puzzle games. Winning would give you tokens where you could go to the rides of major films. Each film would be a genre related 2D classic video game. For example: Back to the Future was going to be a beat em up but side scrolling like Metal Slug, set in the western era of the third movie but instead of a gun Marty had a whip (I assume the whip instead of a gun was because this was when games were being attacked by soccer moms complaining about the violence in video games). Jurassic Park was a top down racing game with the SUV from the movie, had to dodge tar spitting dinos or else the T-Rex at the bottom of the screen would catch up to you . E.T. was possibly a space shooter with ET trying to get home but they canned the idea before going into detail about it. So what happened? Kemco the publishers fucked everything over. You should know them James, they made Bug's Bunny Birthday Blowout and Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle lol.

when I went to Universal, it was the super bowl, and there basically were no lines.

On the 11th day of Shitmas, THE Fred Fuchs gave to me 11 Flickering Glitches 10 Awkward Controllers 9 Shitty Power-ups 8 Virtual Boys 7 Useless Weapons 6 Purple Objects 5 BIBLE GAMES! 4 CDI'S 3 Nerd Clones 2 Sega Add-Ons And a game of E.T on Atari!

Best one yet! Had a real length, felt like a real, full AVGN episode.

If this was a modern day game The micro-transactions would be though the roof.

I think Nintendo made this game shitty on purpose as revenge for Universal trying to sue them over Donkey Kong.

Not only did Universal demolish their oldest set of all, The Phantom of the Opera, to make way for a Harry Potter ride in Universal Hollywood, they also recently demolished the famous long-running Jaws ride in Universal Florida to make way for another Harry Potter ride, even though there already was one in Islands of Adventures! What were they thinking?! Well at least they still have E.T. Adventure.

Reminder: Kemco was the company that made this game, not Nintendo. They also made the Crazy Castle series.

Theme parks are really big on keeping litter under control... This feels like a PSA on trash.

Every system needs one truly awful game, and the GameCube is lucky that it got its own right at the start.

The Universal Back to the Future Ride had a funny joke that stuck with me where the Professor warns you not to talk to yourself if you see yourself waiting on line lol

As much as I like Harry Potter, the fact they destroyed a piece of history in order to make a ride for it is a travesty in my opinion.

I was hoping that you'd give this game its own episode after the James & Mike sessions showed off how much you both hated it. ...and I wasn't disappointed. A "janitor sim" is the best genre definition here. I look at going on the rides as a diversion from the intense day of trash removal at Universal. I mean, sure, I know there are supposed to be labor laws, but maybe letting the kid on the rides is a way to keep him from telling the authorities. Or something. Really looking forward to Day 12, and what's in that big box of LJN.

James delivery of his line at 0:44 very well as he transitioned from positive to negative in such a subtle manner while retaining the same voice tone.

never had to pick up trash at universal to get on a ride. however when i worked at cedar point in Ohio, if employees were in the park on the day off and were caught passing by garbage without picking it up, we got written up and lectured. best part is, they never tell you about that during orientation

0:52-1:06 I looked into that, the soundstage was destroyed, their building part of a Nintendo themed part of the park there. The set itself was preserved and put in storage. Meanwhile a Curious George area and an amphitheater were torn down to make way for the Harry Potter stuff

James is one of the few RU-vidrs who can leave in a blooper and it actually makes the episode better.

Good God this one was amazing. James doesn't get enough credit for his writing, which sometimes pales in the presence of his hilarious anger/acting. This is so well written.

I always find it crazy how different James is in real life to the AVGN character, he plays it so well.

One of the biggest heartbreaks about Universal Studios for me is when they took out the Back to the Future Ride, but what made it even worse is that The Simpsons Ride makes fun of it in their queue segment!

The funny thing about this is I was at Universal Studios Hollywood for Halloween this year, and the place WAS filthy. This kid would be a welcome addition to the park these days.

I always thought that the T-rex raft ride was a strange choice for them to do seeing as how that only happened IN THE BOOK and it was not in the movie at all.

Gotta say. Star Tours was one of the best theme park rides I ever been on as a kid. Actually felt like I was on a space ship stumbling onto an imperial fleet.

The Phantom Of The Opera set was not destroyed at all, it was moved into storage. The soundstage was destroyed, not the set.

This Universal Studios Theme Park in this game is mostly based on Universal Studios Japan instead of Hollywood or Orlando, meaning you get to simulate the Japanese counterpart in the game you bought in the US.
