Kinda reminds me of the Christian crusaders against the Middle East and specifically the Turkish empire. They viewed them as no more than a hindrance, an obstacle in their way to the Holy Land. Little did they know that they were a formidable force and in the end they cost them dearly for their arrogance. The Turkish empire pushed them back into Central Europe, so they wound up losing over half of their land that the land that was not even occupied and was later occupied by the Ottoman Empire and the Ottoman Empire still pushed further west until Italy, where I believe they just decided to stop and figured that they had enough land and didn’t need any more. ( I’m not sure if this is correct, you can google me for the correct information on the Ottoman Empire and it’s push into Western Europe, you would probably be better off doing that than listening to me). But eventually the Knights of the Templar order defeated them and took their riches from them (remember this was in the days when “ to the victors of the war goes the spoils “ie: property, gold,silver, gems money, anything of value” the Knights Templar and a certain portion goes to the Church . However the Church got greedy and went to the monarch of the land ( which was Frace, and was very important and very powerful) and persuaded him that the Knights were actually Witches and therefore not entitled to any of the riches that they had accumulated and that it should be divided between the church and the state. Now the king happily went along with this plan and rounded up as many of the Knights Templar as he could and had them burned at the stack. However several of them got away and hid their treasure and drew a map to it so basically the treasure was lost to eternity until someone who could find the map and interpret the map and find the treasure and where the treasure was buried. I don’t think that anyone has ever found the treasure map as the Knights were very ingenious in hiding their treasure
Read your history ! The crusaders were not the invaders the Muslims were ! The crusaders were to bring back lands which were Christian before Islam existed . Turkey ( or Byzantine ) was Christian long before Islam existed , as were Jerusalem and other eastern lands . In turkey you will see where the church of San Sophia was turned into a mosque ! I thought the West now saw the truth about islam . Islam invaders who forced Christians to pay extortionate taxes or Die .
