Yeah you’re allowed visitors in normally so next year you’ll be fine, it’s just them being stricter at night at the moment to stop parties etc. From happening which is a bit annoying
the one's that are closest to the med school where most of your lectures are gonna be are in Pritchatts Park, but if you wanna be right next to the campus (it's so close that you can literally roll out of bed and you're already there), Selly Oak and Bournbrook are ideal :)
