To be clear, Chief Illiniwek was never a "mascot". The Chief was a symbol.

It was honoring the once proud Illiniwek tribe. We have permission from the tribe itself... This is bullshit, grow some balls

Will all those who are descendants of native Americans who dwelt in Illinois step forward and tell us if Chief Illiniwek and the "War Chant" were offensive? (Why are only white liberals offended?). In 2022, people still shout "CHIEF" at halftime when the Three in One is played. Long live Chief Illiniwek.

The Illiniwek tribe will be forgotten.

I haven't watched any Illini or ncaa events since the LAST DANCE by the CHIEF.

Once again I am ashamed of my home town ! Worse than here in Co. Deep down, it's all like the "personal" license plate fad still alive there. The problem is nothing else to do there !
