Can anyone tell me the level of Math proficiency required for this program, the type of Math concepts covered, and the significance of Math in the program's general coursework? I am interested in this program, but Math or Statistics is not my strongest suit .
Hello! Thank you for your interest in the programme. Our web page about the programme lists the requirements and content: www.uni-passau.de/en/ma-devstudies/ You do need to have some experience and understanding of research methods used in social sciences. Empirical research and undertaking statistical analysis is often a part of that. If you want to know details, please email advice@uni-passau.de for advice. Hi i am Paul from, West Timor, Indonesia. i have some questions as follows: 1. For the english language proficiency, is it only accepting IELTS and TOEFL IBT /TOEFL PBT ? or it' accepts TOEFL IPT as well? 2. My educational background is "Geology" and i am a public servant. Is it possible for an engineer like me to apply Helmut-Schmidt-Programme - DAAD ? Thanks
Hello Paul! Thank you for your interest in this programme. For the language requirements, this web page lists certificates the University recognises: www.uni-passau.de/en/apply/masters-programme-applications/language-requirements-for-masters-programmes For TOEFL ITP a mark of 543 (silver) or higher is equivalent to B2. For the second question, please visit www.uni-passau.de/en/ma-devstudies/daad-scholarship/application and www.uni-passau.de/en/ma-devstudies/daad-scholarship/further-information Based on what it says int he FAQ, it sounds like the requirement for a degree in a social science is pretty non-negotiable. You can, however, email information.ppgg@uni-passau.de to ask if your professional experience as civil servant could be recognised as equivalent to a social science degree. I hope this is useful. It would be great to be able to welcome you in Passau soon!
Hi! Can I get selected if I have a bachelor's degree with a 2.3 grade in economics? I have five years of work experience and I want to apply for the development studies course
Hello! Thank you for your interest. If the 2.3 grade is according to the German grading scale, that is better than 2.5, so the answer would be yes, provided you meet the ECTS-criteria. See www.uni-passau.de/en/ma-devstudies#c329815 for details. Good luck with your application! It would be great to welcome you in Passau soon!
I finished my graduation in English Literature, in which two electives were in sociology and environmental economics. After that I did my Master's in Governance and Development. I have work experience of 3+ years in the field of governance and development and I am working along with a Central Government project in India. I have done two internships in the respective field. Am I eligible for the programme, MA in Development Studies at Passau? Am I eligible for the programme considering my first Master's for the academic requirements?
Hello. Thank you for your question. You can find a description of academic entry requirements on the programme web page - www.uni-passau.de/en/ma-devstudies/ Unfortunately, without knowing exactly which modules you took during your previous university studies, and how many ECTS-credits or equivalents you accumulated in specific subject areas, I can't answer the question. The best people to advise you are the Academic Advice Service (advice@uni-passau.de ) or Dr Christian Dölle (Christian.Doelle@uni-passau.de). Could you contact them? Best of luck if you apply!
