Same for me until, my 60's, then both shoulders and both knees needed surgery. Farmed until I was 30 and no broken bones or surgeries, but the next 30 years was different.😮

My Momma just turned 91 yesterday! She’s from Cherokee, IA and now lives in North Carolina where I moved her so I could take care of her. Could you please name a heifer after her! Her name is DeloresBroderson Steele. Her brother lived in the same town as Tiffany. I grew up in Sioux City, IA. We watch all your videos and look forward to each and every one! Cole; you are a wonderful son and it’s because you have great parents with great attitudes! We love to hear the Father-Son banter! So wonderful to see Cole earning an honor from Brian about checking the hefers. Brian spoke so softly about how he did it himself. Now passing g that and trusting him to check them. made a warm spot in me heart. Be proud Dad, your doing a great job passing g on you great knowledge to your son. My Mom used to water all of our heifers in the winter using 5 gallon pails. Over 35 years her shoulders were shot. One joint was replaced the other had rotator cuff surgery. That shoulder really never came around as she hoped. Mom says if she were to do it again she would have that replaced too. Personally Brian, I think if you can get through your farming career without surgery that would be an amazing accomplishment. I'm pulling for you.

My wife doesn't understand why looking at the sun helps you sneeze, but I keep telling her it does and so does my youngest son. Awesome song of the day, I listen to Can't you See by the Marshall Tucker Band for years. That's the colostrum coming out of those calves/claves, good to see. We had a cow named Buttercup on our dairy farm where I grew up, unfortunately that is all gone because the IRS sold it in 1981. Keep up the good work and thanks for all the good food .

Aloha from Hawaii Brian and Cole. Love your videos. Watch them all from afar. Normally I don’t comment. Had to Google today to find D out the difference between a heftier and a cow. Now I know. My curiosity was based on the comment in the video that the heftiers almost done calving and the Cows are next. I didn’t realize there was a difference. To long being a city boy.

Cole & Brian, Another great video, please keep them coming. Brian were you a Bachman-Turner Overdrive fan back in the day, as they had some good songs. Also Journey and Foreigner had good songs. A respectful request from an avid long time viewer, if possible of course!! Would you please let the camera roll a bit longer when cows meet up with their calves, give birth and connect with them (starting to lick off etc). In other words, just seeing the calves and their mums connecting!! If it’s not possible, I totally understand.

Moving those little calves takes patience. You both are so good with them. Both of you are amazing herdsmen. Appreciate what you do. Your rye is coming up pretty good. Nice to see green in a field. You did good with the rye. Brian. No surgery after 45 years on the farm. And yes shoulders give problems after lifting and carrying things on the farm over the years. Brian you are doing good without any surgery. Hopefully you can continue to be healthy as you are. Hang in there. Getting ready to haul grain you said. Getting equipment ready to do that I see. Look in to LBS Scales, I have their calf scale on the front of a Gator. We normally have two people tagging, but one can easily weigh a calf if need. Additionally I move 90% of the pairs out of the heavies by just reversing out, the calf is at the right height for the cow to smell and follow.

Hey Brian, I had a chance to work with Toy Caldwell, the lead sing and guitar player for Marshall Tucker Band back in the summer of 1992. Unfortunately he died the following winter in 93'. He was one amazing musician and song writer! You know, Toy sounds like a good name for one of those calves, what do you think?

My father left us two years ago, he grew up on a farm caring for livestock. He would take us to the county fair, we would spend the majority of the fair stay looking at the livestock. Could you please name a bull calf after him? His name was Myron.

Hey Brian! Long time viewer and love watching your channel. My wife and I recently lost both our male dogs, Gunner and Scooby, within a year of each other. If you have two bulls born on the same day, it would be really cool to carry on Gunner and Scooby’s unbreakable bond and name them after our boys.

Brian, don't put off rotator cuff surgery. According to my doctor the tear doesn't heal, it just keeps getting worse to the point where it can't be fixed, then you won't be able to raise your arms very well. It took over a year for my shoulder to fully heal. The surgery was worth the pain and the hassle.

Brian, I feel for you on the shoulder issues, I've got one that wakes me up several times a night. I have 3 buddies that have had theirs operated on and two said they got back to about to about 75% and the other said his still hurts all the time. I decided to just limp along with mine, sometimes I question whether I made the right decision.

I recently learned that stroking the bridge of the nose will halt a sneeze, so I gave it a try just to see for myself...ha, it worked! I save that trick for instances where a sneeze is not a good idea. Any bright lite works to stimulate a stubborn sneeze. I've never researched why that's so, but it's true!

His name was fugly.. he was a 1 eyed boxer and such a sweet loving old boy who we rescued as a puppyfrom the middle a thorn bush along the side of the road zimbabwe. He will be sorely missed and would love to have him reliving on ur farm as a bull calf
