He is a vampire, and there is actually a huge age difference between the girl (Molly) and Mats. (At the time of 1990, Desten is 126 years old, and Molly is 25) As for Molly, I can say that she is half a witch, but as a child, because of (spoiler for the animatic "Dear Theodosia (reprise), she fell into the family of an evil hunter. And Mats ... Well, his dad is not very good...

popsiclecat 456 Honestly, the scene this song comes from is pretty mild in comparison to some dark moments in the show and other movies. You could always give it a watch sometime if you’re curious. It’s definitely a step up from past generations of mlp.
