Thanks Paul👍, Brad is now limited in his availability but we are still producing during the business of running 2 businesses. We greatly appreciate your support, comments and feedback.🙌.
Fantastic vid. I’m very new to the scooter community - I was gifted a second hand ‘17 typhoon 50 - apologies for the absolute numpty question but I’m told mine is two stroke. I see a seperate oil and fuel tank. Do you still need to use mixed two stroke fuel or use standard unleaded and they mix together somehow. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
Hey, I commented on another video. I was trying to find my carburetor today on my piaggio typhoon 50cc, this exact model but I cant find it. Could you tell me where to find it so I can find out which carburetor it is?
Would deristricting the ECU be the same for my 2017 Aprilia SR 50 motard? it has the paggio 4T engine apparently, still trying to learn more about my sons scooter.
@@scooterstreetau not sure I'll have to find out having a hard time getting info on this scooter just knew it had the paggio 4T (4V) engine so just assumed it would be similar. Thanks for replying to me
@@scooterstreetau yeah but i need help, what jet size would be best to aprilia sr 50 2019 euro4, kinda same as the scooter on video and i have done everything that you guys have done.
There is no solid answer, it is not a square block in a square hole. It MUST be tuned to suit, all of our videos are about TUNING to SUIT. IT MUST BE TUNED AND TESTED. I would start rich and then come down from there. @@jari887
Hello, i'm trying to remove the variator ring (restrictor ring) on typhoon 50. However i'm not sure if mine has one. Is there any way to see this without having to screw off the nut? Also do you know if its possible to screw off the nut on the variator without an impact drill? If its not do you by any chance know what socket length you need? Thanks
You can take a photo in between the 2 faces of the variator to see if there is a ring. Yes, to remove, watch the variator fitting video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hUZ8eqIRFCk.html&ab_channel=ScooterStreet
@@ibrahimcabaroglu3864 We use the Malossi CDI, but you must change all of the other parts to gain an advantage. Did you watch the video? Also the other video relating to the derestriction?
A venturi is the slim part of a carburettor? It's necessary for the Carb to function. It can not be removed as it is the Carb essentially, I suppose it does add power as without a venturi the bike wouldn't run at all? The pipe they disabled on the Carb is called a solenoid, it's there to make the bike run lean for Euro 4 emissions and the ECU controls this in order to restrict the bikes power so is necessary to remove. I presume this is what you mean but your comment doesn't make much sense to me.
Josh, you are too funny😂 a venturi, stop it, I know your having a joke😂 Everyone knows it is a restrictor cone. There are hundreds of videos on RU-vid showing how to derestrict the restricted exhausts. It must be removed to increase air flow..
Very nice typhoon, and the exhaust is very pretty! I have a question - so, I have a 1st Gen. Zip, it has an brand new airsal sport 50cc ac cylinder, leovince TT handmade without restrictions, straight intake, carbon reeds, twin air filter. I bought a brand new Motoforce PHVA 17,5mm, and only ran like it should with a 58 main jet, spark plug was coffee brown, but also had a lot of problems like starting, keeping idle, top end was stuttering. Tried a 62 main jet, and the plug was straight wet and all black. But, when I tried a Polini CP 17,5mm carb, with an 83 main jet, which it still has, its running a bit lean, but also every other carb problem i had before dissapeared. Maybe you have any clue what has happened? Where would most likely the problem be?
That does sound unusual, we have had some issues with the needle position on the standard carby but with your issue I would lean more toward a faulty auto Choke (enrichener). If you heat/cool test it you will find it is not closing/opening correctly.
Hi i have the same piaggio. Fully deresteicted. 4g and 6g mix rollers. Cut and blocked the solenoid pipe and derestricted tecnigas silent pro exhaust. Typhoon goes around 40mph but im sure it should go faster. It goes a lil bit better downhill. Is there a chance that the ecu is restricted?
@@luc4352 I would say 40 will be the top speed. As I mention before ultimately we use the Malossi ECU when asking for highest top speed, paired with 70cc kit.
Hey guys, have a similar engine. SR50 R Euro 4. Interesting to see how you guys did it. I've done the following and recorded 55mph downhill on GPS. I appreciate what you've done is a more Conservative derestriction though. I currently have the following - Standard 17.5mm Dellorto Carb PHVA (restrictor pulled out @ 68 Main Jet Currently, l'Il up this) - Standard Airbox - Leo Vince TT Exhaust (Derestricted) - Malossi Euro 4 ECU - Malossi Primary Gear Up Kit 14/39 (New gear ratio is 0.0805) - 4.8 Gram Rollers - Unrestricted Variator Bush - Polini Speed Drive Belt - Standard Clutch, Springs, Contra Spring - Standard Variator I'm just about to put on a Malossi Cast Iron 70cc Sport cylinder to just prevent external factors such as wind and hills from dropping my speed as much. What would you recommend changing the jet to? Would a 72 be okay or would you start higher? Love the channel guys, thanks for all the info, keep releasing videos!
HI AB, thanks for the great comment and especially your list. (take note viewers)🙌 The Leo and the gear kit are showing their worth on your speedo, nice work. Our build is to a customers small budget so a good opportunity to show what we did with our limits. 70kit-The headless kit is a winner for these engine and start at 94 main jet, you can remove the snorkel and add an air stuffer or jet down if too rich. Very keen to hear your experience.
@@scooterstreetau Hey Guys, So I installed the Malossi Sport 70cc kit today. Started perfect and ran great although when I left it to idle to get warm I noticed there was coolant which seemed to be leaking between the cylinder and cylinder head. Only a very small amount. So I turned off the bike straight away. I'm not sure how this happened as it's a brand new kit with new gaskets. I tightened the nuts in a star pattern but not to the correct torque as I don't have a torque wrench, I just did it as tight as I could being mindful not to strip the bolts, could it be this? I also presume I'd need a new gasket set now as the paper base gasket has already been compressed? Last thing... I also lightly dipped my finger into two stroke oil and applied a thin layer to the piston gasket and coolant gasket as I thought it seals better but now I'm starting to think maybe I shouldn't have done that with the coolant gasket on the outside? Just wanted to check I'd done everything right, any help is most appreciated :) Cheers chaps.
If you do the head bolts up too tight, you can actually warp the head slightly. The gaskets should be used dry. Some like to use a smear of high temp gasket sealer. Definitely buy yourself a torque.
@@scooterstreetau As an update. Installed the 70cc kit after I'd torqued down a new head to spec. Incredible the difference in torque it makes. Currently got all the same parts and upjetted Main Jet to 72. Just breaking it in currently so haven't tested top speed as of yet but at full throttle, she pulls well with no bogging etc... Do I need to do anything with the needle as in the Malossi instructions it says to put the needle on the richest setting? I presume I'd also need to play with my air/fuel mixture screw? Thanks guys :)
i changed my exhaust and there is no gasket, but i can feel air going out of there. Do you think i should buy some gasket or i installed exhaust wrongly? i feel the scooter working more smooth than before but there is a little different smell than before from fumes
@@scooterstreetau there is only your vid, but you have exhaust with shorter ending, mine has like 5cm at the end maybe it is not alligned into that engine hole or idk what else
Hot dang, you all! This is almost exactly what I plan for my ET2 50cc this fall! The Wild Lion exhaust, rollers, clutch springs, derestriction, carb jet...plus a Malossi 70cc kit. I get so much out of watching your videos. I swear you folks have me believing I could actually do the work myself. Well, I'm gonna give it a shot...but I do have a talented backup in case I screw up! Thank you as usual...
Every piaggio/gilera i ever derestricted and put a malossi willion/polini original/gianelli go exhaust on, has needed around a 72 main jet. Of course we also always remove the restrictor plate between the carb and the airfilter, the bronze one. Full derestriction
HELP!!. Have a 2019 NRG for a few years now. it's to slow to ride. can't climb any hills. 45kph max if I'm lucky. 8k rpm max at full throttle on the center stand. I removed the carb restriction and put 4.8 rollers. de restricted variator bush. still super slow. What is the main thing holding this thing back?
Hi, do you have such a MALOSSI DIGITRONIC CDI module? Such an exhaust pipe burned out in my case, it was used for 3 years, the fire was coming out. Replaced with LeoVince Touring.
I'm looking for a wiring diagram for a 2018 2T Typhoon, my right hand brake handle does not turn on the brake light, anybody know where I could find one? Or preferably a complete workshop service manual?
Google search and you will find the wiring diagram in the workshop Manual. The brake switch is located at the hinge of the lever and could be the possible cause for fault. Remove the mirrors and release the screws holding the top cover to reveal the workings of the brake and brake switch.
@@scooterstreetau Thanks, I've tried googling but couldn't find anything specific for the Euro4 model, I guess the wiring is probably very similar to the previous generation, but I'd hope to find a specific diagram, or better so, a complete shop manual. I've found that for several other Piaggio and Aprilia scooters I've had before, but this one proved tricky. So if anyone has a specific link or tip on where to find something, that would be much appreciated 👍
Hello sir, can you please make a video on how to adjust the carburateor on aprilia sr 50, i run my air screw at 3 half turns and my bike has a high idle, when i run it at 2 halfs the bike idles smooth and slow. But i don t know exactly where i should leave it because i am scared that it can run lean
The air mix screw should be set at 1 turn out as a general rule, this link is a great guide for a better understanding for tuning of the Carb. www.mopedarmy.com/wiki/PHBG_tuning_made_easy_(a_step_by_step_guide)
I will ask u one more opinion. Im heavy person 115kg and living in town with lots of uphill-downhill roads. My Piaggio Typhoon with current setup is a bit struggle on hills so I decided last , 70cc investments. Setup should be: Piaggio Typhoon 2T - AC (2011) *Exhaust Mallosi Wild Lion *Malossi 70cc cast iron sport kit * Mallosi Multivar 2000 +7.2gr rollers * Dellorto 17.5 PHVA with 80 main jet for start * Clutch Bell Mallosi wing bell ( im scared for oem overheating ) * Oem clutch with oem springs * Torque Spring Mallosi Purple * Oem Belt I wonder will this setup ok, ( aka rollers, springs, jet) regarding im 115kg and I cant afford some better exhaust for now... Im not interested to be fastest, i dont care for top speed. I just wanna solid start, better power, peacefull uphill driving, so i will not be a obstacle on road....😂 Thank you for response.....
The set up sounds fine as a base, once you are ridding only then will you find out the results of the hill climbing ability. The solution will be: a correctly tuned carby and a gearing set up where the rear pulley effectively reduces the gearing as the rpm lowers. So medium weighted rollers with a overcoming Torque spring. The purple may not be ideal as it is a short spring in length, a longer spring with slightly higher tension than OEM.
For the clutch set up, try for a Polini G3 adjustable clutch and the bell an MHR clutch bell or Polini Speed Bell Evo, these have larger cooling holes/vents to factor in concerns regarding over heating.
Hello people, i have a sr 50 2020 that i recently converted to a manual choke instead of automatic. When i cold start it with the choke on, the bike smokes and stalls, or doesn’t start at all. What can be the problem? Leovince tt Dellorto phva 17,5 with 65 main jet The bike starts ok without the choke but i want to cold start it with the choke on so it can warm up faster
@@Octavian17 You can try these things: Start the engine without choke and no throttle. Start engine with choke pulled slightly, hold until idle settles. Many people twist the throttle too much so shy on the throttle.
@@scooterstreetau thanks for the reply. which springs are they then. I bought polini blue springs and it said they engage at 7000rpm (i have same setup as in the video) i thought it was too much but just to confirm did i buy the right ones?
Vous devez continuer à régler votre scooter. Vous devez comprendre que chaque scooter n'est pas identique et que chacun doit être traité individuellement pour obtenir le meilleur résultat final. Bonne chance.
Hi, i have a aprilia sr 50 motard 2020, i took all the restriction out, and put a 19mm carb, yasuni r, 50 airsal, and malsossi multivar 2000 with 7g rollers. The top speed is only 60kmh but the bike sounds good when riding, any tips?
Im working small changes on Piaggio Typhoon 50cc, E2 (2012) Malossi Wild Lion exhaust, Malossi Red Sponge, 64 main jet, OEM Variator with 6.4 gram rollers, OEM clutch. Should I remove carburetor restriction? Thanks...
I would like your opinion. I made a test run ( without checking spark plug color, its a bit cold outside for all day setup), mostly up to hill. On 1/4 throttle engine stumbles. On 1/2 its run mostly fine, but between 1/2 and full throttle engine gain wild boost power. Carb settings: Main jet 64 without air diffuser Exhaust: Malossi Wild Lion Air Filter: Malossi red sponge Variator roller weight: 6.4g Should I go to smaller main jet or just try to adjust carb needle. Sory for bad English. Thank you...
Hi, I've just done the variator centre change myself but haven't disabled the ECU/CDI unit yet. Is it ok to use the scooter in this state until my mechanic is free?
hello, piaggio 50 bearings are playing and I want to change them in my country in Romania, I can't find only NTN available, what do you think of NTN bearings?
@@scooterstreetau thank you, I have one more question, the scooter goes with 85-90 (heavier) 10 wheels, if I put 13 wheels from the piaggio nrg, what speed could it get and if I put some 6g rollers, what changes could I make to have the speed bigger without changing the cylinder? I was thinking about the multivar 2000 clutch I have from Malossi but not the variator?
@@GeorgeBGP If the NRG wheel diameter is larger then you will achieve a higher top speed but getting there may take a little longer, I always suggest to try and then you will know. The speedo reading may change too so test with GPS, before and after changing the wheels. Adding an exhaust, varaitor and secondary gear upgrade will give more top speed.
