Come Join us as we Build a Bullett V5 Racing Stand Up Jet Ski! Fabrication, machining, welding, and of course Riding. Using a SXR 1500 as a donor ski, we build the ultimate high performance recreational stand up.
@Jet Ski Jim so I bought this old 51 Cadillac this summer and brought it home. I had it inside my shop and I witnessed a mouse coming out of the car and escaped into my things in the shop. LoL I went and shut all the doors and I have a 1983 GMC truck sitting in there with a 454 in it. I started that motor and left it idling till it died 3 hours later. It starved itself of oxygen. Garantee you there are no live mice in my shop no more!!
Sounds and looks pretty fast. I cannot believe how fast the new 2022 Super Jet is... Maybe a 4 stroke future is not as bad as us die hards think? I just wish the bigger heavier trend would go into reverse... There is a reason the good ol' days were so good... there's a reason...
Not kidding. There's also been a steady flow of parts showing up on my porch in the form of packages...so i do what any guy would do, i bolt them up..lol
Got up poured my coffee sit down and watched this video. Next level stuff! Mr Jim I really really enjoed this video! Man the intake to pump and smooth transition was sweet to see! The engine design in the STX Is such a good design and smooth running engine! This ski should be named purpose Driven. Good Job sir! Very good indeed! I remember back in 1995 seadoo released the XP but a limited edition and had the all new 787 in it and I was wowed. But now! I always wanted to go to your area and watch the fast boys run. But nothing wows me like the nitro burning drag boats those guys are nutz.Dont they run the big race in your area too?
Peanut oil is in the rubber what a great idea Jimmy. I work for the phone company and we have this problem all the time. Groundhogs mice and squirells. Great job Jimmy I think it will run.
Merlin sent Me..... I have to catch up a bit. That boat is amazing ! I've never ridden a standup, it looks like a great ride. looking forward to seeing the speed on 'glass' !
Wow, I almost wish I was into jet skiing so I could have Jimmy build me one. The water here is about to freeze, so I'll just ponder the thought over the winter.
Disappointed in the FF , you didn’t talk and explain mounting up the pump sealing shimming. Installing the pump shoe alignment etc would be nice to have someone explain all that especially on a new hull. Appreciate the fabrication skills you have shoehorning that motor in there. Cool stuff
Thanks for the video, I mainly ride my 1500 these days. Love the power, hate the massive size. While the intention wasn’t to do a size comparison the bullet hull looks so much smaller. I’ve heard 70lbs lighter too.
Well you got me hooked now!!!! Your talent and knowledge on jet ski s is more than impressive. Maybe Jeep guys might try your cooling improvements. Enjoyed
Wow. Good video Jimmy. Merlon cameo at the end was also cool. That was alot to absorb at once on the history of those ski doo's. But I watch the fab rats video first and that help alot with watching this one. It would be nice if you could get some one to video you while in water like in the fabs rats one. Would be sweet if you could do Drone clips and views. That jet ski looks bad ass on the water.
Great video! crazy to see how far things have come after seeing things like the 550 you had. Also cool to hear about Bullet history. Im staying tuned to hear more about what is done in the pump area these days instead of bondo and fiberglass. :) I just finished up a 12 vane in my blaster and it made a surprising difference.
My apologies. I started on this project/video a couple months ago. I have since already released the video on pump stuffers... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-h4566fJTL1s.html
Nice work Jim. I dont know shit about Jet Ski's but im sure after watching your videos I will. great content keep em coming !! I can see this channel getting popular Fast.
Kawasaki no like Jimmy cooling tht engine down and giving it a longer life. Sorta like Stihl don’t like when we mod the exhaust to get heat off top end. Same thing.
LOL. Merlon would come over to my shop, point and instruct, then leave. I was the monkey behind the welder/wrench. So It wouldn't have turned out as awesome without him. :-)
Good to see Merlin working the Camera. I wonder, at 70 and still riding Moto Guzzi's, would a standup or sit-down ski be better for an old man with grandchildren?
Thanks for the advice. I have slalom water skied many decades ago and didn't like falling above 35 mph so slower and a tow vehicle sounds good to me. @@jetskijim007
Alright I'm finally here! I have been at the fab rats since they started.... Then to cousin Merlin's channel for a long time. Sorry it took so long! Do you have a video of your history in the sport, how you got the nick name "jetski jimmy" or how you met Merlin?
Hey Jim, I’m curious, what do you think of the Turbo LS powered Sea Doo ? I couldn’t believe that engine would actually fit, especially with room for a turbo. Love your channel, very informative and entertaining. Keep up the good work !
I think it is awesome! Those guys did a nice job on it. Merlon and I have had one one the drawing board for a couple of years now. Hopefully we will get on it for next year.
Hi Jim I’ve been enjoying your videos. I have a crazy thought of installing a tr1 Yamaha from a donor sitdown into my 2011 sxr. Any thoughts, I think it can fit.
Well, I think if you were to buy a tr1, you would always get your money back if it didn't work out, so you are not risking much to try it, I know a few folks who have put them in other stand ups. I would not hesitate to try. I don't think I have seen it done yet either. keep us in the loop on the project. :-)
Do have a shop? I am a fab rats fan and saw what you did. I have an older YAMAHA and it needs fixing up. It has sat for 25 years! Are you open for business?
Would this water routing be effective on a regular 1500 with a waterbox? I’ve seen a fuss in forums about some kits melting the stock exhaust hose & a bunch of junk about in-line jets & filters in the lines. Your setup seems much more simple & effective.
Absolutely. When I had my set up still in my sxr 1500 hull, I put it into overheat mode from riding too hard, that is when I started changing water routing. That is the routing I ended up with. I just carried it over into my Bullett hull.
@@jetskijim007 thank you, I’ll definitely have to try it out! Is there any way I could get a quick drawing of how everything is routed? If so that’d be great! Ps- love the videos, super informative, keep it up!
The casings for your wiring harnesses are soy based. Critters love eating it. It's common in today's Asian imports. Not a common subject but, with the environmental issues today, it will become a common product all vehicles will be built with today. It has cost me 1000's in repairs on vehicle wiring until I found that out.
