Speeches by Thomas have been widely viewed and are popular on RU-vid.
Lebron James has credited Thomas as part his inspiration for winning the 2012 NBA Championship.
He's Eric Thomas and here are his Top 10 Rules for Success.

1. Know what you want
He was born in Blainville, Quebec, and grew up in Detroit, Michigan.
2. Work on your gift
He was raised by his mother, a single parent, and did not have a relationship with his father during his childhood or adolescence.
3. No excuses
At the age of 16, he dropped out of high school and lived homeless on the streets of Detroit.
4. Upgrade your values
He was homeless for two years, and he would sleep in abandoned cars and find food in garbage cans.
5. You reap what you sow
While he was homeless, he met a preacher who inspired him to go back to school and eventually change lives.
6. Education is the great equalizer
Thomas also credits a job at a Olive Garden on the westside of Detroit as a break for his career.
7. What is your "why"?
He would work until 5am and only sleep for a few hours.
8. Have boundaries
He spent 12 years working toward an undergraduate degree at Oakwood and graduated in 2001.
9. Speak from the heart
A debate class at Oakwood made Thomas realize what he should do with his life.
10. Succeed as bad as you want to breathe
He preached and set up a program, Break The Cycle I Dare You, (BTC), to help underprivileged kids.

E.T. inspired me to get through four years of college to complete my Bachelors degree and is now providing me food for thought and action to not only complete my Masters degree, (which I am doing now) but to completely dominate in life. God has him right where he needs to be to redirect broken vision, derailed dreams, and misguided direction. I came in on "succeed as bad as you want to breathe", and I have not looked back ever since. In addition, he is a homeboy from Detroit, Michigan. I grew up in Detroit and knew that I wanted greatness, but didn't know what it took to achieve it. Seeing him live what he preach and listening to the dominating message that he deliver gives me hope that I too can be successful and be a product of Detroit, Michigan.

This was one of the most powerful speakers that I have ever heard. I am forwarding this to all of my son's, ages 21, 27 and 30. If they follow this advice they will be able to live their dreams. My favorite rule is: Go All In. Grind daily. I plan to listen to him every day until my February 6, 2016 book launch. L.O.V.E. I try not to watch motivational speakers because it's very easy to be motivated at the moment and then you wake up in the next morning and you don't have that same excitement or drive. However, Eric is great at what he does and he focuses on making you your worse critic.

2 months ago this man changed my life. Gave up my games, smoking,caffeine. I got my job back I lost after from after 12 years.Have fixed the relationship with my babies mother. Working out everyday and changed my diet .I listen to him everyday now. I NEED SOMEONE TO BE HONEST! ERIC WILL MAKE YOU LOOK YOURSELF IN THE MIRROR! THE WOLVES ARE COMING!

TBH im looking at these videos tryna find out how to sacrifice more, and I realised I already sacrifice everything to be the best fighter in the world. I gave up going out with my friends and im only 17, I got rid of my phone, I never eat bad food anymore. I train my whole day from when I wake up till I go to sleep. Just need to start believing in myself now.

I am saddened by the fact that some of those kids in the video seemed so disengaged. Dr. Thomas' "You've got to want to succeed as badly as you want to breathe!" is one of the greatest motivational speeches that I have ever heard, but is seems not to have got through to some of those kids... That said, I have to thank you, Evan Carmichael, for putting this together. It was wonderful to go through this summary of ET's videos. I was transfixed by the original videos and I remained so here.

+eric hui you can. however if your goal is to make gains then obviously your sleep is part of your journey to success. Then what do you do with the rest of the time that you actually have in the day. But what he is saying is you have to want it that bad that at times you have to understand that your goal or purpose is that important to you that you will most probably lose some sleep now and again.

He says you should get the sleep you need but there's always so many hours in a day. Committing to your Goals will take sleepless nights and sleepless days to grind on it until something happens. Working hard and Consistent and Persistent enough that something changes your situation. Brick by Brick, day by day you'll build a wall.

+Adam Gibson Incorrect. APA style demands 's in this case. Chicago/Turabian is optional but with a preference for 's. The rule you're referring to is when a plural possessive ends in s, you always add only an apostrophe.

Wow ....as a traditional Indian I'll have to say he's on point when it come to being successful financially and in life in general. This guy is intelligent and I admire his fire for wanting to inspire others . He really want to help others. This is my first time listening to him and I can tell he really cares about helping others. It makes me happy to know he reaches some . I'm not just saying it . He knows what he's talking about and I wish they can have him talk to the youth today on a grand scale .
