Cant wait to watch later. I personally dont care about more fps, i want stable fps. The 1% lows and hitching and studdering is what really kills gaming for me. A solid 50+ with the vrr is what i really want.
The tip about vram allocation might help, give a little more ram to your GPU. Depends on what games you're playing, but often stutters is caused when there's a lot of moving around of memory from ram to disk (paging), and often it means some process is not getting enough memory.
Reason why I'm buying this is because of Windows. I don't get it why some people make a big deal out of it. Just open steam? Play your game? I understand Steam deck is much more easier to navigate and console experience. I already have a PS5 , I want a replacement for my pc. Handheld fits right to my alley.
Oh I get you, I personally like that it's a full version of windows as it gives you full versatility. My wife actually replaced her PC with an ALLY and loves it. Anyone with PC knowledge will do just fine, agreed. However, we're seeing a lot of commenters coming from a gaming console and expecting this to be a gaming only machine, then becoming frustrated with irrelevant windows programs and setups. I get that, I think windows should eventually release a bloat free version of windows with quicker setup, without Office365/OneDrive etc. that 90% of people won't be using on a device like this. This wouldn't even be detrimental to those wanting to multitask on the system as you'd be able to just download and install anything you like after.
Appreciate this video, especially the two tweaks regarding disabling Core Isolation and VMP. This actually solved an issue I was having with occasional stuttering in one of my games where no other tweaks had any effect.
The comments on windows are very harsh imo. I been using a pc for years and windows doesn’t bother me. This is my pc replacement for the most part so I like having the full computer experience. If I just wanted a gaming machine this guide would be more helpful to me unfortunately that isn’t the case. Maybe I’m a geek who just knows how to use windows? I agree they should make a mobile windows or front end mode for gaming, however I don’t think it’s that hard to use modern windows 11. Didn’t realize that many people had trouble using it

Windows for the win! me and my friends think that it’s the best thing that happened to handhelds it’s versatility and possibilities are limitless, the few individuals complaining it’s only users errors nothing satisfies them and have a problem for every solution.
I am the same but tbh I spend so little time in Windows, most of the time boot the device to AC and launch game. People make such a big thing about Steam OS but to me it's Steam Big picture, the store Steam store is still as annoying on SD as it is on PC.

true, but people want to convince themself they made a good choice by buying a deck. Those people keep crying that windows is a hell and Steam OS is so much better. I've had both, and both are good, there's no need to be a fanboy about either one. Both have their pro's and weaknesses, but Windows is def not that bad. The update part can be annoying sometimes, but its not like it happens everyday. SteamOS is shit with all the launchers and tinkering if you want to mod or use cheats.
CPU boost should be left on if you want to experience the full potential of the device, also it’s power friendly so it doesn’t consume the battery as some people making it sounds like.
@@CuriousTinkering strange because my fingerprint reader is working exactly the same as before I disabled it. Not heard it being an issue with windows authentication, Microsoft themselves suggest to disable this for better performance. Surely they'd state any conflict like that.
New subscriber here. Thanks for the content man as ive been digging in to your recent videos. My ally x is on its way and to be delivered today. Your videos make the setup process and use for this system seem fluid so thanks in advance lol. I have a gaming pc with an asus tuf gaming motherboard and rtx 3080. I love it but I was looking for a system where I can game on the couch or in bed because honestly sitting at a desk is killing my back so to not be tethered to the chair is a rly attractive idea to me. Im stunned by what handheld gaming has evolved to and Im beyond excited to set up the ally and dig in!
Thanks so much dude, really appreciate it :) Handheld has come so far, that now we finally have the perfect balance of PC performance and super convienient console like gaming... it's amazing!
Very nice, thx! I have a specific question. I do store my Ally X in a storage bag over night. I shut it down completely when finish gaming. Sometimes I am worried about it turning automatically on in the bag at night. This would be serious as the bag is closed. Do you think it could be a problem? Can it turn itself on when completely turned off?
Love it! Solitaire was the very first thing i uninstalled 😂. 17w has worked well for me across most games too. What was that shooter you were playing pls?
May I ask what is the biggest difference between Asus Rog ally Z1 Extreme and Asus Rog ally x because I thought the original Asus Rog ally was just as good as Rog ally x?
@@Theworldlargestlovemachineit depends on your use case: if you’d using it docked most of the time or playing it at home and close to a charging point, then the OG Ally is good for you. But note that the OG Ally have two models: Z1 and Z1 Extreme chipset. Get the Z1 Extreme since is the same chipset that the Ally X.
I just got my Ally X. The biggest thing I noticed is battery life. Not commenting on games but on regular Ally, battery depleted 1% within 2-3 minutes even I don't run anything. Now on X I been downloading games on Steam and torrenting pirated stuff for 4 hours and battery is at 60%. My god battery life is huge improvement
Hey may I ask you, So the think is when I play ghost of Tsushima in ally x, the system told me to download the new GPU version for better performance. Should I download and upgrade the GPU or no?
Hey do you guys know a good Docking station for the Rog Ally X?? JSAUX is out of their vertical one, and that seems too be the only one that can hold the handheld properly
We've got that JSAUX one but haven't tested yet, we will be featuring it in a video soon. First impressions are... Due to its verticality it's a little wobbly on the stand
Absolutely, force installed it looks impressive but I will wait until it’s officially added to the drivers. AFMF, RSR etc I would love to see you make a video on those settings etc when AFMF 2 is officially released 🤌
AFMF isn't perfect. In some games it has major technical glitches.. And framerates fluctuate very inconsistently. I would wait for the official release in my opinion.
@@user-hk7iy2vt5y AMD Fluid Motion Frames, it’s activated in the app. Currently version 1 needs to have games set to full screen and it’s not perfect but is is very good. Version 2 is around the corner and looks extremely promising 👍
No problem mate. Since it's using a apu (cpu and gpu on one chip) the 24gbs is shared between the cpu and gpu ( so out of the box the cpu has 16gbs and the gpu is set to 8gbs.) But you can change that in armoury create.
Does 128kb or someone in comments section who's playing elden ring that can help with the Topic of Vram. Can anyone be kind of enough to let me know how much vram should I use ? Default 8gb or 10gb???
@@bobby.12 its basicly frame gen for every game works even in emulation and video.i tested it on my legion go I can cap fps to 45 and it will frame gen fps to 144 fps at the cost of some input delay
