She may have been conditioned to believe, as so many are, that lighter skinned Latinas are more attractive. Colorism exists in many Black, Asian and Latin communities.

Just because someone forced you to speak their language doesn’t make you apart of their culture, only that they stole your identity. She is as much Latina as I’m European, and it’s only in my DNA.
