This video couldn't have came at a more perfect time! Using WinUAE I've managed to successfully install WB onto an internal CF card into my A1200, which I then recapped only yesterday. Now I'm hoping to follow your instructions to install WHDLoad and do some gaming. Oh and I've ordered the USB mouse adapter from your friends ebay store too. Thanks for taking the time to make this video. 👍
Thankyou and well done on your recap another Amiga saved. The great thing about WinUae you can trial it all before hand :). Hope all goes well as with most things this is a learning process and through people doing these things we all learn of each other. Thanks for the comment and if you need and more advice I can always try to help just drop me an email :)
@@Retro4u Thank Neil. I've managed to follow your instructions and get some games onto my system. I had a couple of small snags but got there in the end. I've mentioned your channel in my video and will add a link in the description. Video will be up soon. 👍
I don't know if you have or not but I had issues extracting WHDLoad LHAs in Windows as some of the files are not understood by windows at all and can become corrupt. Its recommended that all extraction of LHAs be done Amiga side (which is considerably slower). There is another tool out there called HSTwb which has the option to automate installation of WHDload games as well as installing AGS and can even create whole images including the install of workbench and tools.
Tbh I’ve never had any issues all seem to work fine with winrar. Yeah 👍 I get the slow rapped on the Amiga lol 😂. Maybe 7zip is another one to try. But I’ve not come across any issues yet. But thanks for the heads up. I will give the other tools a lookup and have a play thanks again for the info and comment
@@Retro4u I had to stop doing my WHDLoad package of games on the TURRAN FTP because of this issue. After a few versions, I had like 80-90 games that had to be extracted on the Amiga using an Amiga filesystem. You might not notice any problem initially but you will have games not working. Personally, I created a hdf file in WInUAE, about 8 GB large, and formatted it with PFS3. I mount that in my virtual amiga and store all the WHDLoad games, extracted, on it, ready to go. I extract directly to that so the games never touch a FAT/NTFS/whatever filesystem.
