The head swap worked nicely, and the armour and cloak colours are much more vibrant and alive, they work beautifully. The necklace/clasp looks like a Blood Angels emblem, wonder if the sculptor did that intentionally?
Ha, I also LOVE this model. The moment I saw it, I knew what my first AoS army was gonna be. I also really disliked the headpiece, so I too did a headswap! I swapped mine for one of the Bloodknights heads, the hair on it flows the same way as Sekhar's cloak, and it really fits the vibe of the model. Have yet to paint her though!
That's a good guide, that'll help me paint my Vampire lord anf named character. Soulblight became one my favourite AoS army since their refresh of the Dire Wolves, Blood Knights and Cursed City. Thank you for guide Lyla.
One of these days I will try this Squarespace thing to see if I can make it work for me. GW does make painting seem intimidating unless it's someone like you or Overlord Duncan breaking it down and even after about 14-15 years of painting I have my moments where I shudder at trying something new or even painting at all. (And they use too many dang colors, man!) NMM is still giving me fits, but I'm improving with every attempt at it I paint, so there is that. But your approach is giving me ideas as to how to approach it again, so I'm glad I watched this video!
The title of the video ("Unlocking Games Workshops SECRET Paint Instructions") seems to be just clickbait. It's a good guide to doind NMM based on reference material but that's all. Not at all GW's painting syle or how you could achieve that boxart look. And the paintjob is a lot more than just that armor. You obtained something nice, but totally different.
