You have to make sure your sauerkraut is not pasteurized. The kind most people get that is shelf stable out of the fridge has zero probiotics. All bacteria is killed during canning process. Normally, if you’re buying it for probiotics, grab some sauerkraut from the refrigerator section. Kimchi, kombucha, kefir and Greek yogurt are pretty great too.

Most kraut and pickles are just crap vinegar and preservatives. Most yogurt is packed with sugar. Both of these options suck. Eat real ferments like bubbies line of products and culture your own yogurt and sweeten with honey or maple. Or try Asian stores (Hmart here in Phoenix) sell fermented kimchi.✌🏻
