Unique design, something to add more flair to the usual setups most do. And it even adds more functionality in a way I hadn't considered. You've earned my sub, and if this is the level of content people can expect, you'll be joining the oxy bois at the top soon enough
Man the more i look at your build the more I'm impressed I've got almost 1800 hours in and I'm still mind boggled by the automation. You make it look effortless.
1. Cycle sensor on incubator array should be replaced with time sensors with ~30-100red/600green signal. The reason is that in cycle sensor setup lullaby buff on egg on 2-3 cycle would expire in red perior, and you loose 1-2 cycle of buffs per incubation period. 2. Pick 1-2 dups with negative trait "Binge Eater", assign them skills they dont want, close them in "humilation" room to produce tons of stress, and let them eat 6000kcals of barbeque each time they reack 100%. That meat also counts towrd achievement. liked comments that emphasize that)
Some additional maths for the incubators: since an egg takes 20 cycles to hatch naturally and 4 cycles if lullabied and we don't usually have 20 cycles to wait for each egg, we absolutely should incubate every egg of the bare minimum hatch requiremenet amount. In the perfect scenario an egg will be hatched every 6 cycles. This all means that we need 2/3 (4/6) incubators/hatches. In the perfect scenario for 15 hatches we would need 10 incubators. However the perfect scenario is very unlikely so adjust from there.
so with the layout in hand i started a quick run to cycle 100 im at cycle 57 with 10 dupes. 46k bbq in the bank, and already consumed 108k absolute game changer! if i had this for my first all achievement run it would have been amazing
I think I've seen a similar design somewhere, but your video is pretty good, keep them coming dude!!... Are there any changes to be considered after the most recent QoL update??
Thanks! It’s was inspired by a design posted on steam. I’ve made a few marginal improvements since this video in my Auto Ranch tutorial and current let’s play series. Think the only thing that changed because of QoL update was the new critter drop off.
Replace the cycle sensors on the incubators with timer sensors putting out a red signal for 600 seconds. Lullaby lasts a full cycle so cycle sensors can get out of sync with when the eggs need a fresh lullaby.
Great video, with the right amount of math IMO. Good information density. As someone who occassionally makes YT video, I know how hard it is to get the right amount of information density, and IMO you nailed it. If you keep uploading, you should be at 1000s of subs quickly. Why do you power the powered airlocks? Don't they work without power?
I really appreciate your feedback and encouragement. It means a lot! I just did some testing and you're absolutely right! They do work without power, just a bit slower. I guess it just never occurred to me that they would operate without it. lol That means it can totally be built without power until adding the loaders and sweepers.
@@engineertroy_ yeah i use them without power because if you power them, you get a huge power spike every time you open these doors! Keep on making these videos :) I'd love to see ranches for other critters. Because there has been updates for the game, I don't trust older guides.
That's good content. You did a great job on the quality of the video. If i may, i would add some more tips : 1 - You can make easy "Nursery room" to put all babies to save ranch slots. You can even make it as small as possible and cramped them. 1x4 room with a dropoff set on autowrangle. Don't worry, they can't starve, they don't have reproduction rate, they can't even be groomed. Babies waste the ranch spot. It's not that impactful for carnivore because a lot of hatch are already adult and you sometime don't have enough adult to fill the spots anyway, but it can screw up your math on an already full setup. If you have already enough BBQ produced for your current food need, it might be beneficial to not evolve them right away to have some adults ready to fill the ranch, instead of babies. (or more precisely, a nearly adult ready, instead of a new born if you just set the nursery). 2 - If you happen to try on other asteroid, consider sweetles. They have the best meat output on the right condition. Maybe a bit more advanced, but the trick is to ranch sweetle and not grubgrub, while having available grubfruit to tend, even stifled. You eat the grubgrub and the excess sweetle. Start with wild plant before locovore. After locavore, you can add plant and to feed them if you are short on sulfur. It's quite effective, see my post on reddit for my cycle 53 carnivore on max difficulty. 3 - If you are short on time to actually consume the bbq, you can setup a simple "binge eater prison". you need : - a small stash of bbq for your colony, the rest of the bbq accessible by the prisoner(s) - a door to forbid the prisoner to go on the warden stash of bbq. - a spot to get sopping wet, - a spot to get popped eardrum, - optional, a bed so they don't get the stress removing bug from "sleeping on the floor" - stop hiring (preventing "new friend" buff). More detail on my cycle 33 carnivore post on reddit. It took my (5) binge eaters 7 cycles (from cycle 25 to cycle 33) to consume the last 350 000kcal of bbq. 4 - timer sensor and not cycle sensor for incubator, or they'll get out of sync. (600 s of OFF on timer sensor VS 5xx of OFF on cycle sensor VS 600s of lullaby) (bonus math on nursery. For 4 ranch with 8 critters on a fully functioning ranch setup you lose 4 (ranch) * 8(critter) * 5 (baby cycle) = 160 cycle worth of egg/100cycle = around 26 eggs/ 100 cycles) (bonus info on nursery : auto-wrangle don't work on babies)
@@engineertroy_ for the little story, i had to type it entirely twice because the comment section wasn't working for me yesterday, so i redo it today. Keep it up, i will checkout your serie as soon as i can.
Hello There, let me start to say that I love your videos. Not only your speech is easy to understand and all your explanation is concise and well made. I am a new player and I am loosing myself to find a beginners guide that is easy to follow through a play-through. Either at some point the YTber will think that you know some mechanics and do not explain, or even have from one video to other jump steps in the build. I am currently following one that seems good but I failed yesterday where one of my dupes ended making a mess that ended in the main reservoir. If you would do a full guide on one basic map just for beginners I would 100% watch them. I hope that will get you motivated, if not that is all the same I still like your videos. Cheers for reading me and have a great day :)
Hi! I do have a beginner guide video and believe it or not I covered that exact scenario! I appreciate the kind words. I felt the same way and I do my best to make the kind of content I wanted to see when I first started playing. And continue to want to see as a slightly more experienced player. 😂 Happy gaming!
@@engineertroy_ Yeah I just saw it while exploring your channel, nice one still love the explanations, although a bit too fast for like full blown green player, but I ll give it a go !
Cuddle pips would definitely make it even easier for the dupes, though they may be challenging to obtain while going for carnivore during the first 100 cycles. They may be more feasible depending on your starting asteroid. Perhaps I should have included them anyway. Thanks for the comment!
So, I watched your video on automating Hatch ranching before. Immediately implemented it in my colony, loved it. Then this video, so thorough, so awesome, I had to subscribe to keep up with what you're doing here.
@engineertroy_ just wanted to drop in and update you, thanis to you, i was able to finally get the carnivore achievement after about 900 hours of time in the game lol
the cycle sensor doesnt work very well for incubators, lullabied stay there for 600sec, so u might miss sometimes i use 2 dig builder on start, and have a printer refresh mod, then hire farmer rancher on my 4th. 6th 7th dup. in order to use incubator on a single 1kw wire, i setup 4incubators in each group run on 1 timer(560red 60green ) and 60seconds filter+60sec buffer toward each set of incubators.
