David Pawson finds Exodus is the story of the biggest escape in history. Over 2 million Hebrew slaves escape from one of the most highly fortified nations in the world. It was a series of miracles. Moses saw more miracles than Abraham, Isaac and Jacob put together. Exodus has national and spiritual significance. In Exodus the people are told God’s name and when we know someone’s name, the relationship becomes more intimate and personal. In Exodus, the Creator of everything becomes the redeemer of a few people. Exodus begins Moses’ lifetime. The first half of Exodus is about what God did on their behalf. The second half is about what God said, and how they were to live now that they were free. The first half demonstrates God’s grace towards them in getting them out of their problems, so the second half expects them to show their gratitude by living His way. We are redeemed first and then taught to live right. The people of Israel are set free to serve God. We are also set free to serve God, not to do our own thing. The plagues showed that the God of the Hebrew slaves was much more powerful than the Egyptian gods. God only hardened Pharaoh’s heart after Pharaoh had repeatedly hardened his own heart. If we persistently choose the wrong way, God will help us along that route to demonstrate His judgement - if we refuse to be a demonstration of His mercy. .

"But we should be careful not to call someone brother whose actions show they do not live according to God's law" The Bible says the opposite of that time and time again, especially the Gospels. As a fellow Catholic you should know that. We are all brothers and sisters in Christ, and while you can and should do your best to guide people away from sin, they do not stop being our brothers and sisters because they've sinned. You are a sinner too. Careful not to fall into the sin of pride, one of the most dangerous ones

Thank you for presenting Sir David Pawson to the public. We desperately need the information and understanding of God's word. These lessons are clear and informative and much needed in this present culture. My perspective of God's word is more than invaluable. It is the best bible teaching I've had from church bible studies, we are not taught this thoroughly. Even most Pastors don't preach as effectively as this. I am truly appreciative of the information.

But if you watch Patterns of Evidence (free with ads on Tubi), you come to a different conclusion about the pharaoh of the Exodus. He was close! And the NT is exactly the same" 12:20 Gods goal was to live among them 33:01 the plagues got worse as refused to respond to the warnings!! 35:01 speaks of calvinist predestination as a type of bingo game; exactly right *such an excellent breakdown of the hardening of pharoahs heart* 35:25 10 times pharoachs heart was hardened but the first 7 times pharoah hardened his own heart.

Its interesting - Gods Goal was to live among them " Since the beginning of creation God wanted to "live among them" - in the Garden he would roam .......before the fall From time of Moses he instructed his people to build a tent to "live amongst them" a temporary structure that was mobile David built a Temple but that was not Gods wish He not want a fixed home - he wanted a "mobile" that would move with his people In world where we have built ornate temples and cathedrals, decorated in statues, paintings and images - at Jesus death the curtain was torn in 2, from top to bottom , and Gods presence left the Temple never to return ......to dwell among them through the presence of His Holy Spirt ....how do we continue to get it so wrong ?

Another excellent video! :) Mr Pawson is by far my favourite Bible teacher and I generally agree with everything he teaches. However, this video raises my biggest point of disagreement with him: his denial of God's sovereign election and predestination. I simply cannot agree with that. He claims that Pharaoh hardened his own heart "seven times" before God finally hardened it. That is simply not true. All the way back when God first called Moses from the Burning Bush, Moses was told that God would harden Pharaoh's heart. The Scripture went on to affirm this *ten times* in Exodus (4:21, 7:3, 9:12, 10:1, 10:20, 10:27 11:10, 14:14, 14:18, 14:17). There is simply no reason to deny God's sovereign election. The Bible says that God hardened Pharaoh's heart, so why do Armenianists feel they need to argue with this? Don't they believe God is powerful enough to be in full control of human destiny? Mr Pawson says: "The kind of God that sometimes is preached is a God who just picks names out of a hat, and decides to save some and send others to hell, and hardens some and softens some. It's as if it was a bingo game." Certainly not! It's not just "names out of a hat", the Bible gives us _many_ criteria for being chosen by God: To start with, those who fear Him, the poor in spirit, the meek, the merciful, the peacemakers. Above all, God chooses to save the people HE LOVES. As the Scripture says: Romans 9:15 "For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion." For the record, I must point out that I am *not* a Calvinist. Calvinism is a very evil and dangerous theological system which belongs to Satan, and I wholeheartedly reject it. Yes, Calvinists happen to believe in God's sovereignty, but that doesn't mean all of what they teach is true. They teach many dangerous lies, especially the lies of passive salvation without works, and eternal security. One of Satan's biggest deceptions is getting people to think they need to either believe in Armenianism or Calvinism, when in fact _neither_ are found in the Bible.
@vanessanair7202

Your comment is dated 3 yes ago. But i feel led to reply to you... You are right... GOD did tell Moses that He would harden Pharaoh's heart... And that because He knew the future that Pharoah would be hardening his heart for the first few times a sign of his pride, resistance and self importance that led him to put himself on the level of God... I'd say that Pharaoh's response led to God's eventual judgement of him in the form of God hardening his heart... Even his own magicians understood and told him that this was an act of God (Exodus 8:19)... But Pharoah hardened his heart towards the truth of He who is God. Having said this... GOD IS RIGHTEOUS. Yes He can do whatever He pleases but I believe with my whole heart only by the grace and mercy of God that when God acts in judgement of anyone or anything, HE cannot help but be righteous and act righteously... Because that is who OUR GOD LORD IS. Righteous for His own name sake. So even if the Father says I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy you can rest assured that His decisions are based on His righteous wisdom.
@BrassyTack
@BrassyTack 6 лет назад
Insightful lesson, as always. Full disclosure, I also reject Calvinistic predestination. One small correction: The Bible specifies the LORD hardened Pharaoah's heart on FOUR (not 3) of the plagues, namely #6 (boils, 9:12), #8 (locusts, 10:20), #9 (darkness, 10:27) and #10 (Firstborn, 11:10). Also, 7:3 says it would be the LORD to harden Pharaoh's heart. "Exodus 7:1-3 7 Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet. 2 You are to say everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go out of his country. 3 But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt,"
@Scripture-Man
@Scripture-Man 6 лет назад
I love Mr Pawson, but what he said about hardening Pharaoh's heart is quite untrue. God told Moses he would harden Pharaoh's heart right from the beginning - at the burning bush - this is repeated *ten times* in Exodus (4:21, 7:3, 9:12, 10:1, 10:20, 10:27 11:10, 14:14, 14:18, 14:17). Yes, Calvinism is certainly wrong, but that doesn't mean that predestination and election are wrong. Predestination and election are clearly taught by the Bible. I don't see any reason to doubt them whatsoever. For years, Satan has been trying to convince people that you have to choose either Armenianism or Calvinism - one of the other! But that's totally untrue! They are both very wrong. (Though Calvinism is certainly the more dangerous of the two as it denies that salvation is dependent upon faith and works.) The Lord has led me to create a series of videos on the errors of Armenianism and Calvinism, which I hope to be uploading to my channel in the near future, so please subscribe if you're interested. Thank you :)

Mt Horeb, is the discourse of Deuteronomy. Deut contains the ark Moses made, the ark David and the other kings had in the 1st temple. This ark does not contain the omer of manna, nor Aarons staff. Deuteronomy most closely resembles the instructions of God to the prophets and his judgments.

@@abby999 As David grew older he became more emotional and that is something Ive experienced in my own life as a man At aged 50 I showed no emotions but having turned 60, I can echo Davids experience an dmy emotions are much more difficult to control ...In these videos David was appraching 70 years of age What David says at 38:49 is important. The Biblical sacrificial lamb was a lamb 1 year old Ram lambs - Ram Lambs are capable of impregnating a Ewe from as young as 3 months of age - so a 1 year old lamb is not a cuddly new born but a fully mature Ram with hornes and quite a hand full David does say that it is the equivalent of a 30 year old man and agreed this point can be debated but if we say some male humans start pubity as early as 10/12 years of age, then when compared to a Ram Lamb a 1 year old Lamb is the equivalent of a "mature man" not a teenager - the reference to a 30 year old man is subjective and yes debateable but the imporant point David is making to illustrates the point - we have this vision of a cuddley new born lamb - but a sactrificial lamb is far from a cuddly new born babe - its a mature Animal with hornes and quite a hand full. A 1 year old Lamb is the equivalent of a mature man (25 - 30 years of age). David was not perfect and he did not have the answer to 'all' questions but I have not met anyone yet who knew their Bibles as well as David - the result of more than 50 years of study when these videos were made

This guy doesn’t seem to realize that the slavery period was not 400yrs. The Israelites were not in bondage until a new Pharaoh came to Power, AFTER the death of Joseph and all his generation, who did not know of Joseph or his exploits in favour of Egypt. They were NOT slaves in the time of Joseph, therefor the slavery could not have been 400yrs. Read your scriptures before lecturing.

I have found this discussed in several books. There is evidence that it was 215 years of sojourning in the land, after the promises were given to Abraham , and then 215 years in Egypt - making the total of 430 years in Exodus 12:40-41 and Galatian 3:17. The often quoted "400 years in Egypt" is then a misunderstanding, based largely on Genesis 15:13 which is ambiguous, and the 400 years there covers all the history in that verse (starting with Isaac, the seed), not just the last phrase. Just adding up the ages of people gets to the 215 years - the Bible gives sufficient info in various places to calculate this period; and Josephus says it was ~215 years, suggesting that is how the Jews understood it. This view is also confirmed by knowing there were four generations of Jews who were in Egypt (Genesis 15:16), otherwise the story of Joseph's family doesn't make sense. It can be worked out that Joseph was in Egypt for 71 years before he died, after which the Jews were brought into bondage in Egypt, i.e. for up to 144 years. The usual view of "400 years in Egypt" means several generations must be missed out of some Bible genealogies. (This understanding of only 215 years in Egypt explains one conundrum, but actually introduces another re. the huge number of people who left Egypt! There is a possible explanation for this based on the language used, which I've only seen explained in one book).

I encourage all to reread the story of Exodus ... God, Moses, Aaron, Pharaoh, and Israelites etal. This story shows exactly how incompetent God handled a situation he created. Now remember the Israelite slaves did not call upon God to save them ... He required Moses to tell them who God was and show them how powerful he was ... So God stuck his nose into their lives unsolicited. God delivered 10 successive plagues on Egyptian society with Pharaoh duping him with each plague. As well the plagues harmed the Israelites far more than they hurt the Egyptians ... as they had an extensive underground network of cisterns (water), secure stores (grains), medical services (doctors & medicines). I am sure Pharaoh did not share these resources with the slaves! So how many slaves did God's actions kill and how many were weakened to near death before a journey of 355 miles across the Red Sea to be conducted within 24 hours. And Oh By The Way ... the Red Sea is a very deep gorge of 9,000 feet. So these weakened slaves have to climb down a mountain of 9,000 feet, hike 355 miles, and climb up a mountain of 9,000 feet ... nope ... this was a huge failure of God.

Warren what has God done to you that you would hate him so much? I agree with you on one thing - everyone should re read Exodus ...again and again Exactly how many Jews were killed by Gods actions? Does the book of Exodus say any Isrealites died ? Exod 12:13 tells us that God told the Israelites to paint their doorposts with blood so that the Angel of Death would pass over them....and they would not be killed The God of Abraham, Isaac and Joseph, who sent the plagues was more than able to protect HIS people from these plagues ... Where does it say in Exodus they climbed a mountain of 9000 feet in crossing the Red Sea ?? You are correct the Red Sea has a maximum depth of 9000ft but the average is 1600 ft and thats 'the average', which means there are places where is no where near as deep - perhaps the God, who created the Red Sea, was more than able to know the best point to cross ? What I can say is that the whole event was so miraculous these slaves ....and their decedents ......'celebrate' the Exodus every year to this day and praise the God of Abraham for what he did to save them .....they do not see this as a failure of God , neither do I.

Dear Mr. Pawson, you use the words "Where does it say in Exodus ..." well then using that same theme 1) Where does it say in Exodus that the Israelites were not negatively affected or protected by God's plagues? ... 2) Where does it say in Exodus that God provided potable water to Moses, Aaron, and the Israelites or 3) Provided them with food when Locusts ate the crops or 4) Protected them from boils or 5) Fed the Israelites when all feed stock was killed .... The Red Sea being a deep gorge of 9,000 feet is a geological fact so ... yes they had to climb down and back up the other side or else they had to hike hundreds of miles north 6) Where does Exodus explain this last issue? 7) Where does it say in Exodus that God directed Moses re crossing the Red Sea, 7) Where does Exodus say that all Israelites survived the crossing? Mr. Pawson, you choose to apply the word of the bible when it is beneficial but then apply your faith based interpretation when the words are not beneficial to your position. That is why I stated ... "I encourage all to reread the story of Exodus".

@@DavidPawsonMinistry Dear Mr. Pawson, would you like to discuss God adding just over 30,000 feet of water to earth so that all land is covered during his great flood where God killed almost all of his faithful followers ... all of his children created in his image ... the innocents? FYI: 30,000 feet of water is equivalent to the height of Mt. Everest. Do you know how much 30,000 feet of water times a circumference of 25,000 miles actually weighs or know what that amount of weight being added to the planet in such a very short time frame would do to gravity, planetary spin, oxygen levels, solar rotation, etc.?
