Miraculous Jill! She's a world class violinist, began playing the fiddle very early in her life, in the age of three years (which is nothing uncommon in Japan). Jill attended the distinguished high school attached to the Faculty of Music of Tokyo University of the Arts and then studied at the same university; she won some prestigious japanese and international awards upon and after graduation - all in the classical realms. Needless to say I admire her skills and musicality. In one of your reactions on Nemophila, you commented that you respect them in particular for the fact that they are independent, and you voiced the wish that they'd stay so. Unlucky Morpheus is an indie band, too, they work this way for about 15 years, yet. Their live performances are great, you can find many "official live" clips in their YT-channel! "Quadratum" is the most recent spin-off of Unlucky Morpheus, with Jill in the focus; two more members of the original band, vocalist Fuki and 2nd guitarist Shiren (who also composes the bands songs), don't participate here. Another one long-time indie band is all-female Electro-Pop-Metal-Fusion (?) band Gacharic Spin, that runs occasionally a project called "Doll$Box" together with Unlucky Morpheus' vocalist Fuki, not to forget Fate Gear, an iconic all-female heavy metal band, who organize their international tours with the help of crowd funding, have their own record label, the drummer doing lots of the required artwork, etc. In the songs "The Sky Pirates" and "7 Years Ago" you can hear and see Jill again. The independent music scene in Japan is quite a sympathetic phenomenon, generally supportive and solidary to one another.

Sometimes the thumbnail lies. Or as you say doesn't represent how great the content actually is. It's good to expand one's musical horizons. YT opened my eyes and gave me a new love for Music quite honestly. My problem is our Western Corporate Music Industry really has the bar Low for us over here. While many of our bands deserve the success they enjoy there are still quite a few that you wonder how did these guys make it this far. 9 out of 10 times I listen to new music from Japan I wonder how the hell haven't they gotten bigger.

Luckily we live in an era where what the corporate machine feeds us is completely irrelevant. To the extent that i don't even feel the need to complain about it anymore. Literally anything we want is at our fingertips. As for unlucky morpheus not being bigger, they're very smart. Smart things take a special consumer. I love them, but they're difficult for me to listen to frequently. It's a difficult entry for people wrapped up in the standard 4 chord pop progression.

The fact that you've only really found out about Japanese music is not that surprising. It used to be a very niche area of music, known only to geeks and weebo's outside of Japan, and if I want to be fair, it's not that well known in Japan either. In Japan they know more about western rock/metal bands than their own, for many Japanese bands they have to become known in the west before they take off in Japan, or be around for 10-15 years. While there have been many Japanese bands that have tried to make it in the west they always struggled, a couple succeeded like X-Japan, but that took many years. Then one group just smashed everything, in the way thing were done. A smallish Japanese band notice that they were getting comments from fans overseas, and then in 2014 they took a gamble and jumped at the chance to play at a festival in the UK, and because they were so different from everything that was in the west they caught on. That band love or hate them was Babymetal, they became popular overseas, which was a big surprise to the Japanese music industry, as they came from nowhere to the band everyone was talking about, and they became popular in Japan. This was noticed by some other bands that had not long since formed, and they took the gamble as well, which also worked for them Band Maid and Lovebites, now some bands are started in Japan with the idea of going to the west to make it in Japan, Nemophila, it's just that with the way the world has been over the last couple of years it has put a stop to it. Unlucky Morpheus didn't think their style of music would be popular outside Japan, as it is a very Japanese sound, but they played a small festival in London (where I got to see them), and they went down really well, and they have found that they are getting more overseas fans buying their music or watching the livestreams they do, that they have now said they want to tour the west. Seeing as you like guitar solo's and metal music I have another band for you Galneryus - Angel of Salvation (LIVE | 2020) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i5wFEXG9N2g.html by the way the drummer is the one from Unlucky Morpheus in this video, he was with them for about 3-4 years, he has the habit of being in 4 bands at the same time. And yes it's a long song, but worth it. One other thing that you'll find with Japanese bands, and that seams to be, if you can't do it live you don't do it in the studio.

Let's not forget to mention, and give credit, that this is a cover of the song written by the Swedish virtuoso guitarist Yngwie Malmsteen. It's a great cover, but not one of their originals. Yngwie is extremely popular in Japan. Dare I say Godlike...lol. check put this live performance...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-WdAqnc-AjoQ.html
