It is a pleasure to listen and look at your demos, ive been follow your work since late 90's Thank you Nick for all love and work you do for us out here in the world of music 🎹❤🙏
The first I saw of sonicstate was Nick being energetic handling a Juno-Di, circa 2006-2007. A rompler, I think. It's wonderfully thrilling Nick has remained in this media profession documenting electronic music instruments and synthesizers for these decades through today. :)
IK Multimedia doesn't have a great track record with their software. I've read mixed opinions about their supposed support of their hardware synths, but nothing quite like their middling software.
@@Jason75913yeah I’ve been nervous to buy anything of theirs because they don’t support transfer of ownership. So anything you buy has almost no resale value.
Dear Nick, hope your wrist will heal without complications. Get better soon! And take daily 200 microgramm vitamin K2 ! This helps the enzimes to deposit calcium in the bones. And also helps to remove calcium from soft tissues where not needed: artheries, lungs, kidneys, etc.... Trust me I'm jazz pianist, but work nutraceutical segment, as application technologist. All the best from Hungary!
I think this is a great improvement and deals with UI issues, also getting rid of the KB was a great idea, now you have a powerful and compact offering that is better for people with less desk space. Great vid Nick, thanks.
Very nice synth and ditto review. Hope they've changed their support model though, which has been my main reason for not buying their gear anymore. You have to register to get firmware updates. And then they would charge you for transferring ownership. Not a nice way of doing business, as far as I'm concerned.
@@PiotrstrashcanŚmietnikPiotra if you sell your uno to someone else, the new owner cannot register the same serial number to get firmware updates etc. And you can't remove your own registration. Instead, the "license" for that serial must be transferred to the new owner, for which you will have to pay a 24 euro License Transfer Credit.
Oh I heard they straight up won’t support transfer of ownership. This is at least a bit better than I’d heard. I am the same way and won’t buy because of that issue. Maybe I’d consider now. How much do they charge to transfer ownership of you sell it or want to buy used?
I remember my first arm wrestling world championship. Ouch Ps great work as usual Nick your straight forward and knowledgeable approach to all things synth is unsurpassed.
I’m loving mine! I had the keyboard version of the pro, but the interface was just not for me. This is so much nicer - if it had a keyboard, it would be just about perfect for me … it would just have to be blue!
It's an overlay added on top of the video of the instrument, but not produced by the instrument. Only the little white text on black to the top-right is from the instrument - enlarged from the read-out of the instrument's display. Some of the music channels reviewing music synthesizers will display waveform output like this.
A bit expensive imo. I got a mother 32 for that price for example. Depends on what you’re looking for I guess. Definitely the most interesting ik synth so far though so nice to see the progress.
Not comparable at all, first Mother 32 is not digitally controlled, this changes everything, from midi control of every parameter, presets, editors for PC/MAC and far more comprehensive modulation matrix, so this Pro-X in some way is more modular than the semi modular Mother32 (30 sources to 30 destinations 16 slots matrix). you get 3 osc instead of 1 you can play 3 voice paraphonic (and with wave morphing) two types of filters that change the complete character of the synth (OTA and SSI) much more modulation sources including 3 loopable ENV compared to only one, Much more advanced sequencer with parameter lock and almost infinite number of layers, ARP with 10 modes, 3 separated effect processors with 12 effects to choose from each... But it will never be your Mother32 so comparing synths (like i just did) is stupid :) Just because they are both "synths" doesn't mean they are the same, It's like comparing cello and violin, there is no better, it's just a different tool, ideally get them both. *Also finding fault in something new just because you chose something else is also stupid (like i also did) i'm not saying you did this (you did say it's "expensive") but it is very common in comment sections.
I had a Minilogue but couldn't really use it for a punchy bass because the Amp envelope had a noticeable pop on a short attack. At times, the Moog Minitaur does it too. Does this have the same problem?
Seems great for 700$ (Beheringer messed with your mind :) ) For example: - 3 OSC’s with wave morphing, - 2 Filters - OTA and SSI, - 3 loopable and retrigger envelopes, - 3 voices paraphonic, - 16 slots matrix with 30 sources and 30 destinations. - 3 separated effect processors with 12 effects to choose from each, - Separate analog drive, - Advanced paraphonic 64-step sequencer - Arp with 10 modes, - Fully digitally controlled, - Analog Input that can run true all this, Stereo Out, Headphone out, CV/GATE In/Out - Free editor for PC/MAC and healthy documentation…
@@synthcat7019 Nop, it's just a list of features I find that prove my point, with this one you get more than ever. wanna prove me wrong? suggest other synths that come close for the same price. Your assumptions are based on nothing factual. I don't think you understand the meaning of digitally controlled analog and what is involved in manufacturing it, or this expensive signal path and massive modulation/sequencer/dsp effects... But I can read from the way you wrote you don't want to discuss, it's probable you just ordered something else or thinking about ordering something else and you find fault in this one to make you feel better about your decision, or maybe you are just very poor? Bottom line is, if you don't have experience in manufacturing and running a business involving this type of instrument, your assumption is a pointless remark. Stop fooling yourself your opinion worth something without experience.
@@synthcat7019 it appears only his opinion matters, hey I like the synth but there are other alternatives, polys for the same $. I like that IK have fixed what should have been this release, but 3rd times a charm I guess?
@@xfghffhfg why just not buy Uno Synth Pro for 150-200Eur from second store? It have a same engine, and you paying just mere pennies for getting the same sound engine
Big question is… Is it worth upgrading from My UNO Pro Desktop to this? I purchased the Pro for $500 CAD, then there was $100 price drop and this sells for $600 CAD. Worth loosing the $200 on the trade in?
You would be buying a VERY similar synth to what you already have. Only you can decide if you don't like the user interface for your current (gen 1) UNO Pro and are willing to pay $200 to upgrade. Also, I am not sure how you can receive the full $400 for a used synth so the difference might be more than you think (unless the retailer has some sort of upgrade policy).

@@xfghffhfg it's the same sounding synth, you say it's much more capable, when in fact it really isn't when it comes to sound. You're saying it's worth the extra $200 CAD when you haven't even used one.
