Best line EVER when decluttering, moving, unpacking: "WE HAVE ONE OF THESE?!!!" Laughed so hard at your expression -- so been there - done that!! Cheers! Love each and every one of your videos!!
I don't have anything to say. I started reading previous comments, checked "like" on them all and decided I didn't need to comment. I'm nearly twice your age, but keep these totally relatable videos coming! Thanks for loving us all enough to show some of these little secrets so many of us have an unreasonable need to hide!
After we moved last I gathered all papers from every room and boxed up 3 large boxes. Every evening, or sometimes over morning coffee I reached in and filled a small flat basket and would slowly go through it while watching a show or sitting on the deck watching the birds.. It took about 3 months but was not overwhelming and I kind of enjoyed it. BTW, at least 75% was trashed.
Great declutter video! Fun fact: I grew up in Southern California..in the 70’s..... and my neighbor worked for Mr. Roy Rogers. I use to play at his ranch. A vivid memory for me was his kitchen. My mom use to bowl with him and my (now) husband would keep score for him back in the 80’s in high school. I worked for KFC after high school and I remember Roy coming in the day before Thanksgiving and getting food. I was the only person in the store that knew who he was. Such a charmer... 🤠
I could literally feel your anxiety when you opened what you thought was a whole box of papers! We recently decluttered 25 years worth of paper nonsense down to one container like the one you have and man that was a job! So glad that wasn't a whole box of papers!
We all know we are NOT the only ones with boxes that have no rhyme or reason but when we you see someone else you feel slightly better. A sock, a stick, paperwork and dishes. Happy Friday! 🙂
LET IT GO!! The guilt, the anxiety, the bad memories. Just let it go and make better memories. You've learned your lesson, so forgive yourself and set better examples for your kids and for us.
I need to hear/see this over and over. Thanks for voicing these thoughts. My memory isn't solid and than i clutter the space up again. I am trying to have simple thoughts with one thing at a time...intention thinking with feeling "I can do this one thing...cause i want to". And nothing is as solid as forming HABITS. THANKS everyone ☺.
I have just sorted out 25 years of paperwork and I felt the pain when you found those papers!! The same thing happened to me several times. I now have everything in a filling cabinet which makes me very happy.
Is it mould or is a transfer of the newspaper print? Would it help if Andy went through the papers? My hubby struggles with parting with things but was happy for me to do it for him when his parents dropped off a huge pile of papers from 15 plus years ago. It took me very little time (relatively speaking) to sort to trash/shred/keep. I did show him a few things I knew would be of interest but literally kept maybe 3 pages. Which I scanned and shredded. It was kind of fun for me too since I'm in full on "get rid of all the stuff mode" but have nothing of my own left to go through! On the positive side, your clutter is the gift that keeps on giving. Maybe not for you but definitely for your viewers. I love it when you empty another box, find a treasure and donate!
Amazing what you are finding! On a weekly basis I go thru my bin of “junk” mail to find things that need shredded (like pre-approved cards etc) and what needs recycled. Glad I went thru them this week because I found a check for $78.xx. I consider that my “reward” for staying on top of current mail. A few years ago I went thru several tubs of papers. Painful and daunting experience. Luckily now my recycle tote is picked up with my trash every other week so I’m on a mission to get anything that can be recycled out of my house. That helps me keep up with staying on top of current mail. I’m anxious to see what other beauties you find in that archeological dig you’re doing!! Hugs from Ohio! 💜🌸💜🌸
I throw papers out as soon as I get them, I open my mail next to my outside recycle bin so I can throw it straight out. I might throw stuff out that I should keep who knows lol I've never needed something I've thrown out yet.
I felt so frustrated with you when you opened that box of papers. I struggle so much with paper!! Summer 2019 I went through probably millions of papers to try and find all my daughters medical paperwork since we were filing for the Katie Beckett Wavier for Medicaid. It took over 30hours just to do a quick sort and pull out very obvious trash and sort her papers into bins by years. Then.... I started to go through each stack and whittle it down by a lot (not as much as I need to but this is very hard for me) then about 2months later after a cumulative effort of 40+ hours dealing with paperwork I found another stinking box of papers! Ugh! I finally managed to go through all the loose papers I had at the time but I still struggle to keep a system in place and to not procrastinate on paper. It seriously is my kryptonite. We just moved our daughters medical files to plastic for long term storage and I got rid of my 4 drawer file cabinet when we moved. Just put a ton of papers in shred pile two days ago but still have a long way to go. Ugh I hate paper.
I can't believe that you still have so many boxes because you decluttered so much from your other home. Seems never ending. The plastic containers are better for the basement because in case you ever get water, it'll protect the things you do decide to save. Thanks for sharing !!
Love your unboxing videos, you guys are getting through them slowly but surely. It must be so satisfying to think about the amount of stuff you got rid of before your move and to know that all of the things you are decluttering now will not be coming with you on your next move. Once they are all unboxed then comes the fun part of organising what you are keeping
Pictures. Okay, I remember spending hours in college putting together yearly photo albums. Now 30 years later, I just took out about 10 pics total from 4 years and threw out everything else. IMHO, albums are becoming a thing of the past. No one "enjoys them from year to year". They sit on a shelf collecting dust and then become a headache of "sentimental" years down the road. Am I alone in thinking this? Scrap the albums (pun), and just have everything digitized "to enjoy from year to year". What do you think?
I can relate with the treadmill! I bought one from Sears in 1995 with the hopes of running on it, it traveled with me to 4 apartments then my dad bought it from me for $200 then I bought it back a few years later for $50 and I finally used it in 2010 after my son was born. it was running until a few months ago when my in laws gave me theirs which is like a cadalac so my husband took my old one apart to use the motor! 🤣
Did not even know they made "fireproof document bags"! How cool! Great work by the way, and realizing how the box of paper represents old you. That's a cool way of looking at it.
I am a paper piler! I can't tell you how much I appreciate this video! Thanks for sharing your pain! ❤️ Thanks most of all for letting me see how you deal with your paper and especially your advice on important papers! You have inspired me to tackle my paper! ❣️ Much love from Utah 😍
Erika you judge these things u have kept and encounter from the past, thereby judging yourself. Leave the judgement behind, it causes more anxiety, n u definitely don’t deserve self judgement. Keep up the good work, thx for sharing
Ugh surprise paper mountain...the worst!! That happened to us when we moved twice a few years. Didn't realize we had been hoarding a bin of "important" papers from house to house.
I’m looking forward to this videos! They are too short. Half january we are moving. I’m trying to put things in plastic bins instead of boxes. We’ll see if it works!
The Ray Dunn stuff is so cute! And I say this as a dedicated fan: watching a former border u pick boxes is the BEST unboxing type of surprises because you truly have no idea what’s in it!!!
Hey, thanks for the cleaning videos in the past few weeks. They eventually got me off my duff and I have been scrubbing down my house all week. Almost finished!
I’m glad your minimal-ish , I want to be a minimalist, and I’m trying, but sometimes it hard to achieve, ❤️ being minimal-ish makes me feel a little better. Lol thanks for sharing.
I love Chatbooks - I use them all the time. So easy from my phone and the 4 kids love the books. They label them with volume numbers so they are easy to order and for kids to pull.
I apologize if you’ve answered this in a previous video. I’m a newbie (and loving your channel!). Where are your kids during these videos? Does Andy watch them or are they playing solo? Because whenever I open a box my kids run to “help” and it turns to chaos in .5 seconds.
I am teaching h.s. virtually this year and I am watching this video while my students are independently working! Right now they are creating their kitchen designs. I teach Interior Design!
Somebody throw that dog a ball. He came running when you called your husband. He waited hopefully for a while. You could try training him to wear doggie saddle bags so he can transport objects to other people in the house. It will make him feel usefull.
@@janesmith572 cause some dogs were bred to pull and carry things. It also helps give a dog a job to spend out extra energy. It also gives them a purpose which make them more balanced.
I hope y’all provided some feedback about the packing service that y’all received. It sounds like it was unprofessional since they overused boxes to get paid more and mislabeled what they did pack.
The once-great Commonwealth of Virginia. I kept receipts from a bedroom set to remind me how much we paid for something we only used 7 years and it wasn't built Well.
