Maybe Tyler was lying when he said he wasn’t going to keep Routines in the night. Josh is Tyler’s torch bearer. Josh is guiding what songs should be on the album. I think they have everything all planned out and we’re missing a few puzzle pieces that will get dripped fed to us throughout the upcoming months.

I absolutely love all of them. When I shuffle the album I can't bring myself to skip any. While yes- I thought there would be more lore with an album named after the protagonist of the story... I think they delivered it beautifully to us! It's interesting hearing other peoples perspective of the album since I'm just totally enamored with it 😂

Exactly! As I mentioned, I'm struggling to be disappointed by it haha. To be fair, the "Digital Remains" release was very lore heavy, so there may be more of that stuff to come...?

On my playlist of all twenty one pilots songs, I have the single version of The Craving positioned after Paladin Strait, and it always feels like it is the credits song to the movie that is the album

Love the in-depth analysis of the tracks! Excited to hear more of your theories and see what your thoughts are on the "6/25" theory that has been going around recently

I'd love a deeper explanation into why Josh/torchbearer would appear in the tower when Nico turn around. Amazing video, thank you!

Nice job. I enjoyed your analysis and some of your earlier videos. Watch the video for My Blood and then watch Navigating. Tyler is consistent with his imagery and symbolism throughout all of his albums. I agree with your theory that Clancy and Blurry are the Yin Yang in Tyler's head but don't forget to make room for Josh, the Torchbearer his guide, he is not always there physically but he has great directional influence. These same themes go back to self titled- A Car, a Torch, a Death and lead me to believe that Clancy will die in the narrative on the 25th...he will "take the grave". He has been "planning his crash landing" and I believe it's coming, so Tyler can try something new and shed the burden of the "logistics" of the Lore. Hopefully in a happy twist his spirit and Ned will walk hand in hand into the sunset....but I doubt it. Brace yourself!

Great video!! I was surprised when you said Lavish is your least favorite. IMO the worst is Snap Back, in Argentina we use a term like "It sets me down" (me la baja) to say that smth sets a sad mood or cuts (in a bad way) the nice mood you were having, Oldies Station is an example of the first description Vessel will always be my favorite for personal reasons but I got to be honest and say 1. Trench 2. Blurryface 3. Clancy 4. Vessel (+ RAB original songs) 5. Self Titled 6. SAI

I agree that it’s almost impossible to rank the albums of TOP. I also agree this is an almost perfect album.

the thing I haven't seen anyone mention is that the blurryface tyler in routines in the night is wearing a white shirt with the nine towers and several numbers. I'm not sure what the numbers mean but I thought it was a detail nobody noticed.

Good point! As far as I can tell, the numbers correspond to the Failed Parameter Escape code.

In Fairly Local, Blurryface walks forward but in Routines in the Night, Blurryface walks backward. I feel like that might suggest something.

@abivise7756

@@perligo JLAnderson thinks it is and it would support the idea of a cycle. Additionally, in Fairly Local, the lines "keep the beat/and repeat yesterday's dance" and "switch the beat/to avoid yesterday's dance" could be reflected in the similarities and differences. This also ties into Navigating in the line "I'm navigating my head" which is small but may be something as Clancy tries to avoid Blurryface until the right time.

@@perligo it’s an album full of demos so realistically I shouldn’t be so harsh on it but man it’s pretty awful imo. Bad production, even worse singing, Cringe and pretentious lyrics, etc. I’m glad it’s not on streaming services or considered a real album cuz it’s a pretty embarrassing body of work imo. Forest would be my favorite from the album but the rap verse is so cringe I can’t even listen to it

Lavish and Snap Back were at the bottom for me. Although I do appreciate the way Tyler is trolling the entertainment industry and how shallow and superficial it is. Navigating was instantly my favorite. I'm beginning to wonder if maybe Tyler struggles with more than just mental health problems because there are several songs on this album that sound like someone who has a substance abuse problem. Backslide, Snap Back, and especially Vignette. I think it's possible that was the reason for the hiatus. Tyler needed to get some help. I don't know...maybe I'm reading too much into it. I can't help but connect Vignette with Trees. Like Vignette is the prequel to Trees. It sounds to me like Tyler had some kind of near death experience out in the woods. Possible OD? He has a major spiritual experience (I can feel your breath, I can feel my death) and survives. I think that's why they still to this day play Trees at the end of the shows. It's a Thank You to God for not letting him die out there in the woods. I also think that's why vultures are so prevalent in his imagery.
@perligo
@perligo 4 месяца назад
That's actually a really good point. I definitely also say the theme of addiction coming through, especially after his comments during the livestream. But the Vignette and Trees connection is one I hadn't thought of making before. That's a great insight. Thank you for your thoughts!
@murndak
@murndak 4 месяца назад
You're welcome. Thanks for having a space to share them. I was already picking up on the hints at addiction but I was kinda shocked when Tyler said that in the Livestream. At first, I thought maybe he was writing it for someone else as in from the perspective of someone he cares about but the "no, not me, denial" in Vignette kinda killed that. IF it is a substance abuse I speculate that it would be prescription meds. Snap Back and Backslide both have the language of someone who is guilt tripping themselves for a relapse. It could be something other than substances, but there is definitely some kind of boundary he feels he keeps crossing and doesn't deserve forgiveness for anymore. It's heartbreaking.

In Snap Back he does say it’s something he kicked in ‘17 (2017). Trench released 2018, SAI 2021, Clancy 2024. Maybe the stress of SAI not being liked by the fans as much as Trench pushed him over the edge. Like in Backslide he says he regrets writing Saturday. I was personally surprised and couldn’t find anything about him having substance issues after hearing what he said about Vignette in the livestream. It could potentially explain his skinniness when he was younger but I’m not in the field to actually know if that’s true. But I wonder if Tyler is hiding somethings from us. Which he can if he wants but it would be interesting to know if he does struggle with substance abuse.

@@J03L- It feels a little weird to speculate about such things that are so personal but I mean he shares the songs so it would be a little unrealistic to expect us not to🤣 I'll be honest..I am one of those that did not care for SAI. I listened to it all the way through just a couple times. It's kinda hard to explain but I had a visceral reaction to it. An anti-resonance. I know the correct word is dissonance but that doesn't seem to accurately define how I felt. It immediately felt forced and unnatural to me. Now we know it was kinda supposed to be that way so I would imagine he wasn't that shocked that some fans wouldn't take to it. I didn't take to the Internet and trash them or anything but I didn't listen to it. I think it's more likely that if something pushed him over the edge, it would have been the COVID years in general. I mean none of us had ever been through anything like that. It was really hard on a lot of people. At the time, it was unsure how long it would be until he could get back out and do shows again which we all know is his passion. I love this album. I think it's the most emotionally heavy since ST or Vessel.

@@perligo I just had a thought...I think Goner might be tied to this too. (Feel your Breath/catch my breath) And (I wanna know you/I wanna be known by you). And they use doves in the shows which are pretty much the opposite of vultures.
