Sorry about chapters everyone! We made 1 small edit to the thumbnail and for some reason when you update anything on a live video it gets rid of all the chapters! Trying a few fixes but might just have to wait a little before it comes back up!
If yall are doing that, can you make it start earlier and last longer? I specifically just want to hear about the unpacked events and thoughts and the very many devices released like how yall do with other companies
@@Diego-oy6en there’s not. There’s no better feeling for me than remembering that today is my last day of work til Monday afternoon. Remembering that I get the next 2 days to spend relaxing with my friends and family is the best feeling
Nah bro, in India we don't use nfc. We use upi Its a qr code to share and transfer money Its operated by government of India so it's safe It is both online and offline
Who told you we don't use nfc? We use both NFC and Qr based Upi. I have Samsung Pay and I have my credit card and debit cards in my Samsung phone and I literally buy my everyday coffee with NFC...
@@deepakbisht4957You do realise that you’re a micro micro minority, right? 99.99% of us here aren’t even aware about NFC because it’s practically irrelevant.
40 years ago I was a consultant on the TEP4 contract in Saudi Arabia where I was advising on the telecoms network for what was the world's first and largest GSM project. The mobiles were Motorola/Nokia, the switching was Ericssons and the backhaul was AT&T/Teletra. I smile and enjoy these podcasts knowing that I had a small part in the original tech that makes them possible... 🤓
So the S8 display was called infinity display because of the switch to the 18.5:9 aspect ratio along with the curved edges becoming standard across the board. Up until that point Samsung used to do an edge variant of whatever S phone they released for example S6 and S6 Edge, S7 and S7 Edge, and the Note Edge came a year before the S6 along with the Note 4.
22:15 as Marques mentioned the market it is primarily targeted towards is India and NFC payments are not a thing here, we have UPI (scan a QR code > enter pin > payment done) so NFC is not required here so it is a pretty sweet device which looks gorgeous. Anutosh touched upon the point of UPI. 25:01
True primary target is UPI as you only need QR Code that you can put that thing as a sticker or even in your phone gallery and you don't need any hardware for card swipe, dip or tap to pay. But I mostly use Samsung's Tap to Pay as most of the cafes, coffee house and grocery shows have swiping machine and Samsung tap to pay does payment in just one tap... So it comes handy for me instead of opening Upi app first, then Scanning Qr code and then enter pin and all. I know these takes just 30 seconds and it's easy to done but tap to pay using nfc is faster. I mostly use QR code based upi in small shops and it's a game changer as everyone has upi option and I don't need to carry wallet and cash. I just need my phone woth 20 percent battery and I can do anywhere in India without facing any problem...
Seeing Marques, tall man that he is, hold the S24 Ultra to his face for the Samsung delivery call and still make it look huge really drives home how big that phone is lol
what do you mean? I feel like most people around 25-30 would have gotten that reference... they definitely know of him, they just couldn't remember him
In Southeast Asian countries, QR payment is prominent (usually tied to bank account rather than creditcard). I needed NFC in London because the phone signals does not exist in the tube, but in SEA, QR payment is not a problem cus the internet is cheap & has stable signal for big cities.
"NFC is versatile, interacting with various standards, including the more niche ISO/IEC 14443. ISO 14443 is a standard designed for proximity or contactless smart card communication. It typically uses a 13.56MHz radio frequency that only transmits digital data within a short range - about 4 centimeters or less - beyond, the signal is too weak. It can never exceed 10 centimeters."
Most of the people I know change their phones because the battery dies out, and then tend to have battery life as a main decision driver along with camera. Battery > Thin
26:47 yup that’s how it works. You scan the QR code of receiver and pay (also you can pay by entering phone no or upiID, but QR is code scanning is much more easy)
And I think the positive part is that people can use any app they want, since all of them have the same Unified Payment Interface. There is no walled garden here.
@@EkanshSomani-cp1bs So basically a more widespread form of Interac E-transfer. Interac is the Canadian interbank network, and E-transfer is universal here (other services like Venmo don't exist). It's mostly used for person-to-person transfers or for paying your rent, but not used for retail transactions like UPI is.
1:29:16 To be specific, Y is considered a vowel when..... ✅ There's no other vowel in the word. ✅ Y is after a consonant at the end of a word. ✅ When Y is after a vowel at the end of a word. ✅ When Y is at the end of a syllable. ✅ When Y is in the middle of a syllable.
IMO youtube is the best podcast platform because everyone uploads video to it. On spotify it’s hit or miss on whether the video version is uploaded, and there’s no comments. Comments make it for me, having video is nice for when I wanna throw a podcast on the TV while I clean the apartment.
Regarding infinity display and edges: S6 edge had the curve on both sides, it didn't start with the S8. On the other hand, the S8 (alongside the LG G6) had the display nearing the top and bottom edges (before moving the front-facing camera to the inside of the screen with the S10 which enabled them to actually "reach" the edges), which is why they called it infinity display.
Pretty much everyone unboxing different Samsung products at the same time had me smiling from ear to ear. It looked like Christmas in there. Please keep doing that, even with different products. 😁
As a foreigner the lack of support for other payment systems is difficult. Couldn't book a indiago flight with a visa card from America....small text said it only accepts india based cards. Also paying tolls was not convenient as I couldn't buy a toll sticker.
It’s that’s Friday weekend feeling guys in the UK. 🇬🇧 However we have gone European! Watching in Greece 🇬🇷 whilst on holiday! Waveform, beer and sun! 🙌
7:35 - "Sweet Escape" has one of my favorite lyrics: "'Cause I've been acting like sour milk all on the floor It's your fault, you didn't shut the refrigerator Maybe that's the reason I've been acting so cold" Rhyming floor with refrigerator is just *chefs kiss*
Let me try to explain UPI so you guys understand UPI is a protocol for payments like RSS is for podcasts or Fediverse for social media, you can have a UPI ID/QR code and anyone can pay you regardless of which app they are using.
@@anujgupta1998vermo is small in front of UPI in my knowledge as Venmo operates in it's own ecosystem wheras UPI is huge, it actually transfer payment across different banks and even platforms can integrate UPI gateways. Upi don't share bank details. It actually Create a unique ID to send money and bank settle those money transactions later... The best thing is UPI is broad. It is actually integrated woth banking systems and you can even do financial transactions. I can literally buy Stocks, things from e commerce Websites and anything from any store. Even for using a washroom or buying a gum from a small stall I can do 1 cent transaction using this as everyone has UPI. I literally live cashless.
@@anujgupta1998 No its not because Venmo charges processing fee in certain cases and you can only use it if others have venmo too but here because API was fully disclosed and RBI made strict restrictions to banks by saying that the architecture was created by them and not the banks and so they could not charge customers any fee on payments and so current situation is you can pay anyone with any bank account and with any other UPI App be it google pay or a bank UPI app and they all work together by just scanning a qr code
Hey! So to answer Elis' question on NFC, I have an interesting usecase! I'm a type one diabetic and I use a device called a 'Freestyle Libre'. You can check your glucose level by using NFC on your phone to scan it, and all the data is recorded into the app. I literally couldn't live without a phone with NFC! :D
@@_Makanko_ each scan transfers the last 24 hours of data (for every 60 seconds). So this is far superior to tracking 8 / 9 different blood tests on a graph
When it comes to thin… my iPad Pro 11 M4 “looked” thinner however in daily use it has no impact and I no longer notice it. It was a marketing point. It got peoples attention.
I have the 13in M4 and my girlfriend has the 12.9in M2. I picked hers up after using mine for a week and it was very noticeable how much lighter it is.
In fairness, when it comes to tablets, thinner and lighter matters a bit more. My Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra is like 5mm thick, and as a result, it's still kinda usable handheld despite its ~15 inch screen. Mind you I got that size to use it primarily like a laptop/monitor and it's infrequent I actually use it handheld rather than tabletop, but the fact it's only like a pound and a half makes it a lot more usable handheld than if it were a couple mm thicker and weighed 2 pounds. Phones, though? I genuinely cannot see the point.
Even after zillion of phone reviews and unboxing, the spark in the eyes of these tech enthusiasts while opening new gadgets show that how much they love what they do! ♥️ Thank you for you authenticity!! Appreciate it!
NFC is huge for college students, at least in the US. Our campus student IDs are done via smartphone primarily. Most use them to swipe into dining halls and buildings as well. There is an option for a physical card but it’s very rare to see someone with one
For the knob on the case, I can see that. At my job, I spend a lot of time in "headphone" activities, doing things I don't need to interact with anyone. I usually leave my phone at my desk and wear my headphones as I wander our warehouse (about 5000 square feet). If the case is half, or a quarter of the weight of my Note 10 plus (don't shame me, it still works like a champ), I'd be giddy about it. My earphones are a pain to adjust volume on, so this would be cool.
I am from India, but living in the US right now and so yeah i think Zelle is pretty much what UPI is trying to do. The only difference I can see is UPI is more "open source protocol" whereas Zelle is owned by (i think) chase? So the protocol for zelle is closed source and they have a monopoly over the protocol. HOWEVER, I do find NFC far better because 1) UPI doesn't work with Credit Card...you need NFC Tap to Pay for that 2) If you have NFC Tap to Pay for credit card, may as well have it for phones too! Simplify everything instead of having so many different protocols 3) NFC is slightly faster than scanning a QR Code (which UPI relies on for merchant payments)
I love NFC as I own a Samsung phone and it only takes 5 seconds to do payment but the thing is UPI is literally everywhere and it does it's job in 15-20 seconds and you don't need any swiping machine. All you need is sticker of Qr code. If you are talking about credit card then there is rupay credit card that upi supports. I don't know why UPI is nkt supporting Visa and Master card. Maybe because Rupay is indian...
I prefer NFC over India but Upi does it's job and upi option is everywhere and it don't need any hardware. Just a sticker pr photo of QR in the shop... But NFC is fast. It only takes 5 seconds(tap to pay)
They're talking about different things. NFC is a wireless standard. UPI is an agreement between banks. If they wanted to, UPI could work over NFC. But it's unnecessary.
22:45 NFC can work fine with removable backplates. The 2013 BlackBerry Q10 and Z10 had the NFC coil stuck to the backplate connected with a couple of small pogo pins, which seemed to work well.
I believe android beam did not require the devices to keep touching within nfc range. NFC paired the devices and used Bluetooth to complete the transfer. S Beam was the Samsung extension of Android beam that used wifi direct after pairing for faster transfers. I do wish quick share had the option to use NFC for the initial handshake as sometimes it takes a while to detect the target device.
I feel like the infinity display wasn't really about the edge screen, they had just removed the physical home button and made the display much taller (less top and bottom bezels too) so the front of the phone felt almost like all screen for the first time. The edges were part of the aesthetic but not the main thing
Some considerations regarding shared comments across all podcast platforms: - Different platforms can have different comment structure. Replies allowed? Upvoting? Downvoting? Threading? - What if a platform has worse tools for preventing spam? Now all platforms are affected.
The biggest upgrade to the Z Flip 6. In my opinion is the new 50mp main camera module that has the semi optical zoom. Having that camera flexibility is clutch.
The S8's screen was also the infinity display because of the 18:9 aspect ratio:) because prior to it the S6 edge and the S7 edge also had both sides curved
David: *pronounces "Nummer eins" perfectly* Andrew: "Noomur uhynz?" Somehow, this really reminds me of a moment in an ancient LTT video where Linus completely butchers a German warning. If you want to look it up: "This cooler VOIDS your warranty! - Worth the risk??" at 4:17
Doubtful. I am a small creator and get a bunch of comments saying I hate certain brands cause other brands pay me. No one does lol the issue was that Marques isn’t asking the right questions, but at the same time Apple has an NDA on their independent repair program, wouldn’t be surprised if Apple did the same or similar thing with interviews. Pure speculation though
@@ninjanerdstudent6937 right, my point was that if people post comments saying MKBHD is paid, a plant, etc, he’s probably just ignore them. It wouldn’t be surprising. Not saying that Louis isn’t relevant, I’m saying that it doesn’t matter how many subs you got, people are always gonna accuse you of something.
@@RealWorldReview I both agree and disagree with the topics Rossman said. Brownlee has stated that if he was to only use one phone, he would prefer Android over iphone. However, testing "all" phones comes down to his job as a reviewer. I doubt Brownlee signed an NDA-equivalent for reviews. Apple even used one of Brownlee's quotes in marketing affairs, and Brownlee did not like that, but it was public knowledge at that point. I digress. It would have been nice to hear a 1-minute mention of Rossman in the lengthy video cast because I enjoy channel crossovers. Thanks for your reply.
@@ninjanerdstudent6937 ah yes I mean NDA for the interviews. Sure, creators are seeded review samples, but most people have the integrity to review with not just lie or side with the company in hopes they can get more products in the future. I was under the impression Louis was focused on reviewers talking to companies though, not how they review products. I mean the video with Tim Apple was rushed at the end it just felt like a critical question was cut. That and the content is why people think that there’s something off there. As for reviews, no one is gonna side with a company to stay on good terms. Just like most 2mil+ creators, people are gonna watch even if you’re late or on time
UPI works exactly as David suggests - a QR code links directly to the recipient account. Individual account details are verified using the contact number on the mobile device and matching it against the registered number in the account. Sender scans the code using the payment app and goes on to pay. There are no transaction charges at present (though that may change soon). Nobody I know uses NFC.
31:38 The lanyard makes more sense to be worn crossbody, imo. At least that's how I use it for when I travel. But then, I am short so maybe that's why it makes more sense for me.
David saying the razr is cooler than the flip is wild... razr genuinely feels and looks like a toy vs zflip. In a fisher price breaks on the first drop typa way... not a teenage engineering typa way 💀😂
Recently had a meeting with Spotify reps (audio drama podcast producer here) before the comment function was implemented and we discussed how the Q&A section just acted as a comment section since nobody really just answer the question of the day. So the pivot to comment section makes sense.
Note! NFC on Android phones with quick/nearby share can be used to quickly turn on device visibility Explanation: You want to send a photo through quick share, you turn on Bluetooth, location and all that, but your friend doesn't have any of that enabled (he just might not care), so you can tap two phones back to back and your friend gets the "choose who to be visible to" dialog to pop up on their phone.
23:00 NFC is not a big thing in India because we already have a different digital payment mechanism called UPI. It works through scanning QR codes. Every store and street vendor has it. So it's not that big of a miss, especially if payments is the only thing you plan to use it for.
Adam, you might be able to get around the ring issue for working out, by getting a Garmin heart rate chest strap (HRM Pro +) that has bluetooth. Connect the chest strap to a phone. I can't recall if you can start activity tracking from the phone or if you need a garmin device to start that activity. Either way the strap stores all the info during your workout, and syncs it to the phone after your done. No need to sync it to a watch.
Removable battery and no wireless charging as an option back plate are missed opportunities from cmf. No NFC would have been fine if the watch came with NFC mobile payment.
RU-vid audio eraser: I think it will work better than the video thing because it now has the copyrighted audio with it, and it can specifically look for and remove the frequencies that the song possesses. I also believe it partly, given RU-vid's accuracy in detecting the copyrighted music present in the video.
I have an Aura ring and it does a great job of activity detection and also allows you to set the activity for a previous days activity. The sleep score is great. The tips, hints and feedback when things change (sick, caffeine...) with info. I like having way better battery life and quick charging compared to my watch. I did get grandfathered into no subscription because I had first gen.
Love the videos guys. One thing I'd let you guys know is that the Whoop Band auto detects workouts and will typically learn and guess what workout you did (which you can change afterwards / at any point in the app on the phone). In my experience, it's gotten really good at auto detecting activities (it's honestly one of my biggest gripes with the Apple Watch is how u have to log the workout without just suggesting you start a workout), YMMV.
On the "Infinity Display" bit... I believe the Note Edge and the S6 "Edge" and the S7 "Edge" were just plain "Edge" displays. The "INFINITY" part for the S8/S8+ came because of the rounded corners around the screen and the fact that the top and bottom bezels got reduced by a bunch (they removed the SAMSUNG branding on the forehead and the physical home button for the first time), making the screen experience a lot more immersive and seeming "infinite".
It would be amazing, if you could show all the images and videos shown throughout the podcast again in a row at the end! That way we wouldn't have to search though the whole podcast to see that one thing that I was curious to see while listening to it. Thanks!
UPI mostly uses QR codes. Its a standard that multiple payment apps implement, so it works across apps. Each user has a upi id (like an email id) which is linked to one or more bank accounts. The payment app is only the entry point, makes the QR usecase work, but the transaction itself takes place in a centralized infrastructure. The system has interfaces other than the payment apps (eg: by text)
23:25 my apartment complex doors can be opened with NFC, RFID, Facial recognition, or temp code. The thing is the NFC readers are only on 1 out of 4 doors and it almost never works right.
