Great video, really enjoyed it! I'm also really interested to see what will happen with IR35 in the coming months... it's been an absolute mess so far!
Glad you enjoyed! Yes Ir35s been a mess for years, but certainly worse over the past few once they made the changes that forced big business into pushing everyone into it (out of worry/risk. . )
Im sure the team will do their best to help! Don’t worry most owners worry about it, at least initially- we don’t teach it at schools and we really should.
I don't think we should be worried about a Labour government. If you look solely domestically, I think 1997-2010 compares quite favourably with 2010-2024. We had a country where things appeared to work a lot better, where infrastructure wasn't crumbling and where there people could afford to live their lives a lot better than they can now. Yes, I want to minimise my personal tax bill, but I want the government to set a fair and equitable tax policy that funds what the country needs, even if that means I have to pay more tax. I want the NHS, schools and other public services to be properly funded, and yes HMRC to have the resources to be able to answer their phones! And lets not forget, we have the highest tax burden in a generation now, but what do we have to show for it as a country? Sorry, I don't know how political you wanted to get, but couldn't help myself in responding (for what it's worth, you seemed fair and balanced in your comments - political without being too partisan either way).
Great reply - it’s actually from a tax point of view probably the most difficult election I can remember, because there isn’t a major dividing line right now. I’ve been following both parties policy quite closely and currently doesn’t feel much in it. My biggest worry on the labour side right now is the recent talk that they will ‘solve false self employment’ and raise minimum wages. The first is very challenging from a tax point of view, the second disproportionately affects small business. Will be interesting to see how it develops! Politically I’ve voted for both parties at different times of my life so am always open to what they both have to say!
@@HeelanAssociates Personally, I support an increase to the minimum wage. It is wrong that people working in full time jobs cannot afford to live reasonable lives and are dependent on Universal Credit, or charitable food banks, to make ends meet. Better for working people to be paid livable wages in the first place and not require Govt benefits (which must be paid for through taxation). It won't surprise you (based on my comments) to learn that I've usually voted Labour - to be honest I probably won't in 2024 though (depending on local options). The Labour lead is so convincing in the polls that I believe there is little chance of a Conservative majority, which leaves me "free" to vote against Labour. Specifically, I want an end to first past the post with electoral reform and I want substantially closer ties with the EU, neither of which the Labour Party are explicitly offering.
