Indianapolis has MANY outstanding homes and the taxes and cost of living are very affordable... not that it matters in this price class. This gated community was built by Christel DeHaan and this was her personal residence until her death.

Naptown native, born and raised, and still live here. The entire construction of this place was secret. I use to drive up and down Michigan Road hoping to catch a glimpse when the entrance gate was cracked open. I never thought that I would see it. Beautiful estate.

Crystal D. Was an amazing lady. She started her company (rci) with her late husband out of their garage. She obviously became very wealthy but she gave back to the community and employees too. They don’t make people like her anymore.

I was blessed with the opportunity to meet her several times when attending Christel House the school she founded whenever she visited and spoke to us it was like talking to a grandparent we would have her undivided attention she made sure we felt heard. Not to mention while most schools were dropping art programs Mrs. D filled the school with every type of instrument a child would want to play and a fully stocked art room for any child who wanted to draw. She was a rare soul and the pleasure of knowing her will always be a highlight of my childhood.

You’ll be surprised to know that there’s plenty of homes like this in Indianapolis and it’s surrounding suburbs Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville and Westfield to name a few. The x ceo of Conseco insurance had one of the beautifulest homes in Carmel. Look up videos of homes in the Geist area of fishers Indiana and you’ll see what I’m talking about

Drive by occasionally but have never seen inside. The owner was a remarkable lady. There are many beautiful homes here in Indianapolis and the nearby, surrounding suburbs. With Lily, NCAA, IndyCar and other corporations headquartered here, along with several other major corporate hubs, there's a lot of money and opportunity in Central Indiana.

Agreed. I wonder who the Architect was. Aside from the skimpy ironwork in a few places, it's nearly flawless. Obviously, the garden accessories need beefing-up, and those streetlights need to be removed - a few things like that: but those are minor. One would want to introduce bulletproof glass - probably outside the current fenestration. And an inner perimeter fence probably needs constructing - considering the unpleasantness in St. Louis, a couple of years back, with the rioters nearly overrunning that historic home on a private street. But that's just adjusting to changing times. The lady's taste was flawless. There's not a cloying moment, anywhere.

I commuted past the property daily while it was being built. I took about three years if I remember correctly. The lake is entirely artificial. The perimeter walls, alone, were a major project.

I helped bring in loads of stone for the wall that goes around this beautiful estate. Been truck driver for 26 years now and back in 97 I made deliveries here when in was owned by Catholic church. I was told that the lady who had this estate built has invested in McDonald's stock early on before they became huge.
