Here's the link to that Tien video since RU-vid doesn't allow annotations anymore: • Japan Doesn't Like Tie... Some slight corrections: Vegeta's pink shirt was in Z, and Gohan did go Super Saiyan in GT as well (while possessed by Baby.)
The thing is, goku in dbz isn't stupid. He has shown on multiple occasions he is incredibly intelligent, but he just isn't educated. Goku in GT is mostly the same, but Goku in Super acts like a literal child.
Every time I spent even a second watching/reading Super, I thought the same thing. He was very intelligent, he was just extremely naive about a lot of things, but when you think about it, Goku has the most well thought out ingenious battle tactics. Torpedo Kamehameha's against Frieza to distract and leave him open and Goku's Instant Transmission Kamehameha against Cell are two examples of this.
@@MasonTaylor22 bro I can’t even lie. This is one of the worst and most inaccurate videos I’ve ever seen. The moment you said super is all about goku, when GT is literally db goku time, this video lost credibility💀
GT Goku is far more like a tactician who uses his brains while Super Goku is more like that one dude who is really strong but is pretty dumb. That's my opinion on them however.
always liked how GT showed the characters aged up and matured. Vegeta is a chill dad, Gohan and Vide are parents, Goten is a typical teenager, Trunks is a distinguished gentleman lol.
Literally the only thing the introduced was ssj4 and baby. There’s nothing else. Super expands on the god hierarchy that started in early db with the introduction of gods of destruction, angels, and zeno. They expand on supreme Kai lore as well with more backstory of the grand supreme Kai. The expand on the saiyain lore with ssg, the u6 saiyains, and broly. They expand on frieza’s effect on the universe with the granolah arc. Super for sure did this better. It’s not even close.
introducing things my ass! the one thing gt did successfully was COMPLETELY RUIN THE MEMORIES OF OG DB for me! the writers went 'oh no! goku is way too strong now wtf to do. i know why not turn him into a fucking child!' if youve watched og naruto and then shippuden and then they create a series where naruto turns into the og naruto ... thats whats called dumbassery and pathetic creation! same for db... even in dbz goku wasnt that all matured lemme remember the time where he got overconfident and m.vegeta knocked him out, when he instaead of training gohan further just surrendered and gave SENZU BEAN AND SO MANY MORE EGS! SO DONT GIVE ME THAT BULL SHIT.... and indtroducing!!!! the brought back super 17 you idiot which can easily be WORST SAGA IN ANIME
@@lewanbroski504 what about DBH, it's got a manga and a anime on top of a game. Besides seeing as DBH is ongoing and xenoverse is canon to it, it can be argued xenoverse is canon just to a difrent continuity. IDK why but the dragon ball fandom never seemed to understand that there could be more than one continuity. I thought we would at least learn now that super has to distinct continuities both separate but comfimed to be canon(the dbs anime and manga) Oh well
I don’t know why people do not like part one of GT because it drags out but I mean... Have they ever heard of something called world building? Goku in Super is a kid in an adult body while GT Goku is an adult in a child’s body
I haven't watched gt I heard that it is trash compared to super,is it really true, but I hate dragon ball super it's only about fights there is no good villan or plot,so if gt is even worse then super then idk what to do.
@@layman_1822 Well, I really liked GT, but I've never watched Super, and I'm not exactly planning on it. I'm not sure if GT is better than DB or Z, but sure isn't far behind in my estimation. It don't think it gets quite as funny as Dragon Ball (I've only watched the beginning and the first part of muscle tower, and I found the ninja fight to be absolutely hilarious), nor does the action feel quite as cool as the Frieza arc, but it's a good blend of both, imo. As for the music, I do like the English intro, although I've never listened to the Japanese intro. I'm not sure if you'll like it, but I'd recommend you give it a shot. I liked the whole series, but my favourite part was that first arc. Also, I'm a huge of fan of Pan and Giru, and Adult Trunks is the best version of his character I've seen. I really like his outfit, and I feel like I'd been waiting to see him ever since the introduction of Future Trunks and the Tapien movie. Cool series all around.
Because the characters and their interactions are bland and boring. I could write some garbage and call it "world building", too, it doesn't mean it's actually good. I've read books where it's mostly 2 characters, do they "muh world building" to be good?
I'm not a fan of either but I'd take GT over Super any day GT does have stuff that I really like. The villains and especially Super Saiyan 4 SSJ4's design was genius becoming more animal like that Blue Hair form from Super is just an eyesore and I hate that it's basically become the default transformation
It stays more true to Saiyan heritage rather than god thingy. Also, the main reason they did the god saiyan probably because due to laziness. You know, reskin, recolor, no need to redesign, ez job
I absolutely love what GT did, although I’m aware the execution was far from perfect. When you strip it down to its core, it is basically a very melancholic story about a grandfather going on a last adventure with his granddaughter before having to say the inevitable goodbye; which is already heartwarming/tear jerker in and of itself, but that further rises to ABSURD levels if you think of the whole thing as basically Goku’s ultimate redemption for his “original sin”, the unintentional murder of Grandpa Gohan. It’s not a coincidence, I think, that the circumstances of Ssj4’s awakening are basically what Goku wish had happened the night Gohan died: that he had managed to control the Oozaru and save him. And this time he actually makes it, sparing Pan, his own grandchild, the fate that befell old Gohan. Put this together with the OG Dragon Ball scene where Goku and Gohan meet again at Baba’s tournament, and a waterfall of tears will be the inevitable result. This kind of love for the heart of Dragon Ball’s mythology is why I like GT, and why I’ll always see it as the canon ending to Goku’s journey. As for Super, on the other hand… yeah, it’s… a series of cool fights. Very cool, sometimes. Way cooler than GT’s, for sure. But that’s it. No heart, no themes, no story. Some hints here and there maybe, but nothing more than that.
I just rewatched GT after about 20 years and realized a level of depth present in the writing that surprised me a lot. The evil four star dragon turned good partially out of respect for Goku BUT, also the bond that Goku had with that ball his entire childhood. I thought they were going to ignore it altogether... and then they go and do something like that. Which is entirely consistent with the overarching story and their theme of turning some evil characters around. A bit of an underwhelming character as a whole, I'll admit, but fantastic idea. Which is a general gripe I have with GT as a whole. They have a lot of great ideas with subpar execution. Especially the animation itself feels like they were very pressed for time.
Yeah I didn’t see that cooler fight part of anything I think the fights is where the gas is gone out of the tank gold freeza was super boring the whole time the lord Beerus fights got old quickly becuz I feel they failed to show us ssjb or god mode was any better then any of his other forms
The thing i loved about gt is the uniqueness in the villains the villiains in gt had tactics on how to defeat their enemy rather than using raw power gt also did not overuse transformations and kept power level realtively stable while in super transformations were so overused that transformations like super saiyan 1 posed no meaning and there was no reason to use ssj1 when they had ssb and super really did not have anything like an adventure and it never really explore the depths of universe 7 while super expanded so much to the other universes it forgot to reveal lore about the main chracter's universe what a shame,Also the threats posed to the z warriors in super were not even a threat at all as goku and vegeta had got so strong that at this point they were unstoppable In the end,All i want to say is that super is good its not bad but gt is not trash either u see i was one of the fanboys who jumped on the bandwagon that gt is trash for no reason but after watching gt boy i feel like an idiot now For all those people who havent even watched Gt watch it till the end trust me it wont dissapoint i could even dare say its better than super but in the end they both are dragon ball i dont care whichever's the best as long as dragon ball wins i am happy
Thanks for opening your eyes and spitting out the cool aid. I know there's a sizable faction of GT haters who've never seen the series which pisses me off. I hope more people would follow your lead.

Aujuai Hughes I agree people hate on it for no reason I dared people to say why it’s bad and literally what they say is what’s so bad about super and it shows dbgt is way better
I don't like either but I at least respect GT for it's art direction, for most of it the world design reminded me of the namek saga because since it didn't took place on earth they had to go for more _surreal_ settings, the villans visual design was really well done (with Baby being the standout) and SJJ4 is IMO the best saiyan form ever designed because it's actually a major redesing instead of a hairdo. Super's art direction on the other hand is terrible, none of the villans visual design are memorable, they are downright generic (Giran) or lazy (Black) hell the most memorable villan from super is Frieza who's not even an original character from that series. Not to mention all new saiyan forms which are supposed to be more imposing than SJJ4 are literal hair recolors of base and SJJ1 Goku/Vegeta. Also while I don't enjoy GT as a whole, Baby arc and the ending were really good while none of Supers arc are good to begin with.
GT's tone is also darker and more serious it was the right direction of the show. Super is way too light hearted and like I think you said earlier it's almost like a parody of DBZ.
True but to be fair Super was a time period where it was more peaceful too so they wanted to try something different to GT even though GT was also a time period of peace.
@@petepangtele182 I guess lol. It just would’ve made more sense to build a more serious tone to compete with modern anime AND to appease your now aging fan base. I think they might have also targeted a younger audience with super that’s the only thing that makes sense for some of the characters we see in the show.
The Goku black arc was the only serious arc, and it was still pretty laid back. The infamous kissing scene and Goku forgetting to bring sensu beans showcase the writers lack of effort to build tension.
@@Eric-gw1uo that and beerus and whis were still around defending the main timeline like that just kills all the tension immediately. wtf is black gonna do when he arrived at that timeline? beerus will just destroyed him and it turns out that taking over one timeline is just impossible anyway since zeno of that timeline will erase it no matter what if black/zamasu acts up. the entire killing all mortals plan was stupid to begin with. when you think about it, the tension really doesn't exist and the main cast really didn't even need to go back to the past.
Syed no it doesn’t like he said And the internet at that time wasn’t even really developed infact you were probably in your fathers ball sack at that time
Goku is so selfish and unlikable in Super. The humour and Beerus were keeping me going but I just finished the Beerus saga and I’m not interested in watching meaningless fights where the unlikable, unrelatable, irrelevant protagonist wins yet again by yelling to the point his hair changes a new colour. The fucking worst is the 1 minute explanation of how Goku can still hurt Beerus after losing Super Saiyan God level because of muscle memory. Like you were barely holding your own with him in Super Saiyan God form now you’ve lost that and your doing better. Translation: it makes no actual sense but it’s impractical to have the super Saiyan god ritual done every time and we can’t max out his power level here and just make an exception for our lazy writing because it’s Goku. It’s an insult to fans with a brain, it’s an insult to Beerus, Ares or any other actual gods of war/destruction. This guy said it best, Dragon Ball Super is a parody and a cash grab.
The worst of this is that Goku supposedly absorbed this God Ki into his base form. But apparently Frieza and so many others are able to catch up to that in less time. Oh let's not forget Granolah made a wish and caught up to 20 years of development which also beats Frieza's record of 4 months of training. That's pure bullshit at its finest and no Super fan has addressed that elephant in the room.
The way I see it is that the base God ki was temporary and expended when Goku nullified Beerus' blast. And I disagree with Goku being selfish. Before you mention T.O.P Goku just asked for a friendly tournament between universes and not like when Beerus and Champa did one without permission and could have gotten erased. With regards to Goku sparing Frieza I will give you that one.
I love GT more then super Because it's the closest thing to dbz and I love limits unlike DBZ God and universe and then something beyond that Its just joke DBZ is not just about being superior and fighting without a story line
That’s the issue. Gt tried so hard to copy from db and z that it never had its own tone. That’s why with the ending, it only showed memories from db and z instead of gt itself. Which made everything that happened feel pointless. Super had elements from db and z, and it also established its own tone.
@@leultrainstinct406 if it had showed memories from gt it wouldn’t have been nearly as impactful. Gt included segments of its own in piccolo’s death and that made it terrible. It using its own was not a good thing. You really are reaching. Super also had moments from z, what’s your point?

Honestly, if I were to give my own opinion on why I like GT more than Super, I'd be repeating what others have said. Instead, I'm gonna say this….. How do we go from a story about adventure to a more action oriented story to a story that starts as an adventure before becoming more action to an official parody? In a way, GT felt like a conclusion to a much greater story. A story that wouldn't have happened if Goku hadn't met Bulma. A story about adventure and making friends out of enemies. That is what OG Dragon Ball is about, adventure. Z is a continuation of that initial story, but, focusing more on action as a sign of the characters growing. The ending to Z will never not put a smile on my face. GT, as another commenter put it, is a story about a grandfather going on a final adventure with his granddaughter before inevitably having to say goodbye. GT's ending will always make me tear up no matter what. GT is the culmination of everything that happened since the beginning of OG Dragon Ball. Goku feels like a veteran after everything he's gone through. Super just feels disappointing. It reduces the story to a joke, especially Goku. As much as I love Beerus and Whis, this just felt like a retcon. Super Saiyan God and Blue don't just feel as special as Super Saiyan 4. SSJ4 felt powerful and a way of bringing Goku and Vegeta back to their roots as Saiyans.
I actually agree with this video. GT at least tried a new direction. It’s shortcomings were in part by the writers strike. DBS is just bad writing. My biggest beef with it aside just another power up excuse is the fact they put master roshi in the TOP instead of Yamcha. Fights were nice but they series felt devoid of any soul. Even the Dan-Dan opening song has more heart. Completely agree with this argument
Yea whats funny is that the mangaka who draws super (toriyama writes the story) was making his own fan sequel to DBZ and it was so good he got hired and canceled his own manga to make super which is legitimately way worse. There are atleast 3 dbz fan manga sequals that are better then super by a pretty big margin.
Totally agreed. GT is by no means a perfect series but Super was, to my disappointment, far, far worse. I agree with anyone that GT = basically Goku Time (Pan got screwed bigly), but Super tried to weirdly force the secondary characters as a gesture to fans, and then thew it away with the Tournament of Power saga. And personally, the Tournament of Power saga was the most boring, cringy, and predictable arc of the entire series.
Yeah the ToP was some hot garbage. Literally everyone knew how it’d turn out which isn’t something you can say of any other arc in the series except for maybe the pilaf arc, the characters abilities were straight up ignored, they had people acting totally out of character, gokus base gets literally 2,000,000x stronger in 40 minutes and they didn’t even have the decency to keep a consistent art style sometimes they’d literally switch art styles several times in a single episode
Lets be honest about golden Frieza. Frieza essentially turned super saiyan. It is nothing like his other transformations they are not mutations or something horrifying which is the whole point of his character. The gold form is like a power multiplier that has a gold form to compensate for the lack of hair
@@sociallyacceptablepi7449 Crappy writing strikes again. I mean isn't the whole point of colour is to reflect the personality and aura. Like how vegeta was more darker and it is more bright when powered up
i wouldnt mind if they rebooted GT if its the same team that rebooted Broly. So much potential. Like the z-fighter line up in rebooted GT would be: Goku, Vegeta, Goten, Trunks, Pan, Uub. The rebooted version needs keep this concept: -ssj4 -baby -shadow dragons -soundtrack -The ending of gt
@@StooRoxxAss I'm not gonna start about gt vs super debate so I'm just gonna say gt animation is no where dragon ball Z . Even super just ignoring the bad start and all the bad episodes it had at last two episodes that the animation was superior compared to Z and everything else we saw earlier
I have to say. Although Toriyama is writing super. He is way older and his idea's aren't as fresh. The man didn't even want to revisit dragon ball but was constantly pressured because there's a market for it. So what he did was write out the general story like a book and let the animators interpret it how they may which is why super feels like such a mess of idea's.
@aubueruser7228 You're exactly right. The reason why is because he stated himself, "Being on a weekly schedule to write new chapters was Hell." I can only imagine. Must be the same reason Naruto's creator Kishimoto and possibly other creators have little involvement with their stories once they end and a spinoff is created.

1 correction GT takes place after the end of Z whereas Super is set after the defeat of Majin Buu but before end of Z during that 10 year period I entirely agree I find that GT is better than super although there are parts of super that I enjoy, GT has more heart to it I feel and even though it has its problems (some it shares with Super) it just has more heart and does have better story concepts. GTcan be summed up as a series about consequences whether it foolish wishes, revenge for past crimes, or abusing the dragon balls Ssj4 is also an amazing transformation that fits with the lore of the Saiyans
I love DBS more than GT. GT is a better written show in terms of story, but Super is more memorable. I watched GT twice, and one of the times was last year and I remember nothing. I watched Dragon ball Super back in 2018 and I remember everything about the TOP, Black Goku saga, and u6 vs u7 saga.
@@jantheking7028 gt isnt a better story really. Its more like good concepts with poor execution. Its proven by the fact that the fans can only bring the baby arc and maybe the shadow dragons arc, but that would be a stretch, as a defence for the story when in supers case there is the goku black arc, the u6 vs u7 arc and the top arc. Gt is considered bad due to the insane focus on goku and pan and to poor execution of the stories in general, but it has some things that are way better than super. One of those things is ssj4. This is a far greater transformation than ssg, ssb or ui. It fits better with the lore and has weight behind it, unlike the others that just...uninteresting really. Not even ui seems interesting. It only makes goku faster and have a better reaction time...just another pointless transformation.

All the people that claim that GT is way better than Super is because of character development but the only character that mattered was Goku, they either made everyone else irrelevant or killed them off.Trunks did nothing special and Pan was just flat out annoying.
Actually, DBS fans don't argue about this. It's the childish nostalgic DBGT fanboys who always start this arguement, and then they get triggered when someone says DBS is better. There is a reason why DBS broke streaming service on multiple occasion my friends 😛
@@jantheking7028 I don't get this argument, both suck, they're both bad sequels to the original 2 Dragon Ball series. There's a lot of trash that gets a lot of attention, how does that make it good, though? I'm not defending GT, that's a big pile of garbage as much as Super is.
To me, GT's ending is the BEST ending of all Anime, it is the proper ending and a respectful farewell to our most beloved character Goku. Every time I watch the GT's ending I have tears in my eyes; I considered it is the TRUE ending of Dragon Ball.
I find it impressive how GT had almost no involvement from Akira and yet managed to be incredible, in Dragon Ball Super it really gives the impression that he was tired and only continued writing because he had to. (Which is still true)
It's kinda funny because I think the reason GT is more tonally consistent is because it's right off the heels of the DBZ run. Where as Super feels more like it's panging to nostalgia almost as if it's going "HEY HEY! REMEMBER.... DrAgOn BaLl!??" which is weird considering globally next to Pokemon I'd say Dragon ball is the most pervasive widespread bit of popularized anime that everyone knows about. Where GT tried to build on the Lore from preexisting content, Super tries creating callbacks to the past as content for no reason. Where GT can be disappointing when it misses a beat, Like for example most don't like GT Trunks, They liked the memory of super cool Future Trunks... But when Super gives you Future Trunks back... it's just hollow. Whereas we may liked the Battle-hardened Post-apocalypse future Trunks, he existed for a reason to make it so one future would be better than the other. When you reintroduce him it undermines his sacrifice he made and the character Arc he had to go through to achieve it.... It also greatly undermines the Trunks the saved timeline can become. Someone whose more carefree and looking for adventure.
I did not believe that it was over, I did not want to believe ,that I would never see the further adventures of my favorite heroes, I love GT because it has a similar atmosphere to the original, not like super, full of humor, strange humor and rubber characters, but the end of GT, it was a heartbreaker
No, why would he bring up the endings if Dragon Ball Super isn't even over? Yall GT fans are reaching now, GT is good, but Super is better. The only good arc of GT was the baby arc, and his powers and abilities were not even very origonal, Baby was essentially just a combinition of the worst aspects of Super Buu and Cell.
Gt felt like db and Z. It never felt like GT. And that’s the issue. It never er had its own tone. It survived purely off nostalgia. This is evident in the first arc which is just copy and paste of db adventures at a FAR worse quality. Super not only had elements from db and z, but it had its own tone as well. Also super had better character designs. The angels, the g.o.d.s. Goku black and zamasu. Moro. Merus. Hit. Broly. Etc.
@@leultrainstinct406 Super doesn't have elements from DB and Dbz, which planet are you to say that? It's the truth
While I'm not a fan of either: Super or GT but of the 2 I think GT did a better job. GT: had more soul and effort, kept Goku's character, the fights had tension, realized Goku needed to be weakened, and was more mature noticing actions need to have consequences. Super has little lore and power levels/scaling made almost no sense with very little story. One reason why Super often is preferred might be that GT came out after DBZ and with fan fatigue at a high after the Buu Arc while Super brought the franchise back after a long hiatus
GT is 9999x better than the bad animation no plot unoriginal forms too many forms that mean nothing and are just so that characters can power up quickly with almost no build up lookin ass DBS
I agree completely that GT is better than Super. I also agree that aside from Super Saiyan 4 and the Shadow Dragons, GT was a far cry from how good Z was. Yes the power levels are ridiculous in Super, and we even had Goku and Beerus almost punching apart the fabric of reality. But the feats are extremely inconsistent. Sometimes their fights barely effect the environment, despite having god ki or we have Krillin able to hold off Super saiyan blue. The animation also feels so much less gritty than the other dragon ball shows. The punches seem like they have no weight, the sound effects are different. They only usually get some dirt on their face and clothes, without there being much wounds like in z. The animation looks more childish also. Goku's personality is also way worse than other dragon ball shows. He was way more mature in Z and knew when to be serious. All in all, Super was barely enjoyable for me to watch. Also the fact that they still haven't surpassed Beerus after 6 or 7 years of being a show. I enjoyed some animations in the touranment of power arc. And also the Broly movie's animation. But I also dislike that they brought Broly back, it didn't seem necessary at all. I also dislike how they keep pumping out forms that barely can do anything and made og super saiyan useless. The forms also are just re colorings of their hair. Just so many dumb things about super. DBZ wasn't perfect, but it was so cool a show that it was forgivable. Super isn't even that enjoyable to watch. I kinda wish they just continued where dragon ball gt left for the story. Maybe they can make a super dragon ball gt after super is over.
GT may not be canon however canon doesnt matter much when it comes to QUALITY and people should not over glorify akira as a writter cause he alone was not the sole reason of DBZ success much like butch hartman is not the only person responsible for the fairly odd parents.
i think they should just continue the series with goku jr. so we have no old characters really to reestablish so we can just learn about new ones or you know redo original dragonball...
If only gt wasn’t a disgrace and the writers knew how to execute ideas, and give gt its own tone instead of milking db and z nostalgia lol. I’m just glad z got the canon sequel it deserved.
When i was a kid i didnt know a single person who hated on GT. All the hate for GT is a new trend caused by grown adults overanalyzing a kids show 20 years later
@@jesser5138 I never hated it. I used to watch GT in Japanese before the Buu saga made it to America. I liked SSJ4 so much that I bought DBGT: Final Bout and modded my playstation just to play as SSJ4 Goku. You probably never got into original Dragon Ball think Dragon ball Z post Vegeta saga is actually good lol.
Skip super, it completely destroys upon everything dB, dbz built up. They made ssj3 a complete joke. The power creep is ridiculous and it is all fan service. Vegeta is now a maid who sucks on a pacifier. Goku is even dumber than ever. Oh and Gohan is not the future. As much as people complained about GT. It had the more satisfying ending and coolest form of all. Super just changes the hair color and calls it a day. GT is the rightful conclusion to the franchise. No tingle feeling or easily learning ssj2 in a few minutes.
GT always had a special place in my heart. It brought back the adventure aspect of the original Dragon Ball while keeping the spirit of DBZ. I remember crying at the end of GT when Goku left with Shenron, very bitter sweet (“:
I'm from Brazil, and even here where dbz and dbgt are 2 classiscs of many people childhoods, dbgt is really underrated here, but the ones who like it will gladly show you why they love the gt lore more than dbs
I agree with almost everything, but the comment on the Cell Saga. I personally think it was by far the best saga. The threat felt like it was real with Cell. A powerful Villain who was practically Immortal with all the strengths of every powerful known fighter with very few weaknesses able to regenerate from almost nothing. A monster that skulked around sucking the life force from thousands of humans hunting them down like they were ants if not more considering how strong he was compared to 17, and Piccolo. Then when he powered up before absorbing 17, and destroying Piccolo as you could hear the screams of all his victims in his power trying to come out. Omg that shit gave me chills the first time I watched it. Easily the best power-up in all of DB IMO. Imperfect Cell's best quote "I could absorb you Piccolo, but I have all that I need of your being in my cell structure already you are of no value to me anymore you are just refuse. Goodbye."
id say frieza was the climax of dragon ball cell was the last serious arc but it had too many bs writing like how cell said you have to destroy my head to kill me when goku literally did that
I’ll be honest. I loved super 17. Baby is my favorite. But I do think 17 was a little underrated despite the way it came to be being awesome, but also kinda dumb. Also the ending of that fight made sense and people misinterpreted what was going on during ssj4 vs super 17. Mostly due to the bad writing during that fight. If you don’t know what I mean. Goku was trying to overload 17 with ki since he was absorbing it with a x10 kamehameha, he also showed signs that taking too much ki could be fatal. Goku tested this by shooting weak ki blasts. When he did super 17 body bulked harshly from absorbing. And prior in the fight super 17 was just too fast for goku to tag with an actual hit, and he couldn’t be blindsided either. Goku tried to use instant transmission to do so but 17s 6th sense of being able to sense the vibrations of the molecules goku is about to appear from allowed him to counter goku’s attacks nonstop. Super 17 was overconfident and goku took advantage of it when he tried a x10 Kamehameha. He had no other option since the fight was not in his favor to begin with, and it would be only a matter of time before he lost. So taking advantage of 17 overconfidence he gave super 17 even more energy with a x10 and almost caused him to explode from too much ki at once. Even (forgot his name) was worried 17 wouldn’t be able to absorb that much. After that failed the match was decided. And 18 saved the day, infinitely shooting ki blasts. And then, goku finally found super 17 one weakness, once he stops absorbing hi can’t stop, because it requires all the ki protecting his body in order to form the absorption barrier. And prior in the fight it was shown that once it’s up he never moves from his spot because he is unable to. His stance is the only thing keeping him from dying from a weak ki blast. Goku realizes this and with the last of his energy punches through 17.
Absolutely 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯. I agree, but it is only marginally better than super, and the main cause of this is that gt is much more consistent in its lore than super is by a wide margin.
Regardless of what the fans prefer, the fact that GT and Super are objectively comparable is just depressing as a fan. At least the movies are still good.
Ssg shouldve just been the last transformation t.o.p should've been a martial arts tournemt going back to the world tournements and banned a ki attack and rely on there true inner power instead of ki and transformstions
Also, with Kakarot going through with the whole God route. Isn't he the same guy that turned down the role of Kami back in Dragon Ball? Why would he turn around and choose the whole God route after turning down becoming God?
The Baby saga was very good. The dragon saga was ok. The rest of GT was unmitigated trash of the highest order. That long slog of garbage until Baby showed up is unwatchable.
At least gt was original in power ups and villains super just recycles and recolors every old power up and villains then slaps a half assed name on em...half assed regurgitated power ups and half assed names for em
Gohan should've called out goku for his stupidity. His selfishness engendered his wife and daughter. Goku used to be a more unique character. He was inspired by son wukong and a little bit of superman. But now, they revised his childhood ripping off the superman comics EVEN MORE. Most of his new abilities and forms are ripped from superman.
Super is literally just a huge commercial and completely fucked with any kind of balance the show had, and when SSGSS and Golden Freiza came along, the show reached a point of no return. My personal hope is that we get an Arc where all the Divine Beings including Zeno higher than the Supreme Kais all get erased, alongside the concept of God Ki.
Call me crazy, but GT was awesome (with flaws), but Super is silly and full of flaws, but LOOKS awesome. I can't get into Super. It just doesn't feel like Dragon Ball. It feels like they just wanted to make this insane and bombastic show with characters from the original series. Everything has gotten ridiculous, God's and Angel's and all this nonsense. This was never even mentioned in the original Dragon Ball/Dragon Ball Z series'. I find Super to be super dumb, but some of the stuff is cool looking.
im just here to say that Super is HOT GARBAGE, and if u like it, you dont understand what made DB , DBZ and yes DBGT great. Go watch pokemon, it has the same vibe as Super
I’m just here to say gt is an ABOMINATION AND DISGRACE to the db franchise. If you like you, you really don’t understand what made db, z, and gt so great. All those series had elements from a previous series as well as their OWN TONE. Gt was too scared to even do that, so it milked the nostalgia from db and z. This is evident in many ways, but especially the ending. Notice how the showed flashbacks from db and z instead of anything that happened in gt itself? It’s sad cuz they could’ve just showed the last episode and eliminate the rest of the series, and it would still equally as emotional. Everything was about goku from start to finish even tho he was supposed to pass the torch to uub. The end. Idek what you could watch because nothing is as bad or has as horrible of a tone lol. Just go watch db and z since that’s all gt survived off of.
I like gt more than super for many things, but the biggest thing for me is simpley becease there is tension in gt. In super you have gods that can simply defeat or assist the hero's to defeat the villain. Look at how zamasu got defeated, look at how goku was able to defeat frieza after he blows up the planet in revival of f. All where doings of the gods that made them win in the end. There was 0 tension in those moments becease of those gods helping out. And the tournament of power also din't have tension. Simply because we all knew that they would wish back everyone who got erased by zeno, and the fact that super in the timeline is in between kid buu's death and the tournament uub was introduced. Meaning they couldn't let goku's Universe get erased simply becease that wouldn't have made sense for the end of z, that comes after super. Also i appsolutely HATE the potara fusion retcon. I will never forgive super for how the nerfed vegito. Now they made it look like that vegito had luck to get absorbed in time by super buu in z. And I hate that.
It's been like 8 yrs or something since the last time I watch db. And as a kid, I was so hyped to see what his next transformation would be. But now, i realised that story matters more than action/transformations The last saga i watched was before buu, now that I think of it, I kinda think the story might be better if they made goten and trunks the mc then have him train with his normal-living brother. And dead characters shouldn't be revived. Deaths and sacrifices in db aren't been taken seriously because of that revive sh*t (as for what i remember). Still, i might rewatch this show someday for that nostalgia feels:)
Vegeta in Super still has some immaturity compared to GT. Vegeta knew fusing was their only chance to take on fused Zamasu but he hated the idea and was very close to denying it. Meanwhile in GT, Vegeta was the one to suggest fusion against Omega Shenron because even though he didn't like it, he wanted to protect his home.
GT is way better than super. There are things at stake in GT. In super gods can just control and undo anything and everything and Goku is a God level being as well with no one who can even provide a challenge.
Toriyama tried to switch focus from Goku to Gohan at the end of cell and at the start of Buu saga but backlash was huge which editors forcing Toriyama to bring back Goku at that point Toriyama become somewhat "You want Goku I will feed you so much Goku you will puke Goku" GT couldn't try anything new either because of this otherwise same story being told with Uub, Pan and Bra (Vegeta's daughter) along with a bit more focus on Trunks and Goten might be far better IMHO. Also Toriyama said in many interviews if he could he would kill Vegeta and not bring him back he is only around because he is fan favorite and editors prohibit Toriyama from permanently killing him off.
Tbh The Cell Saga was suppose to be the end for the series for good and before that the Frieza saga was also suppose to be the final arc for DBZ. The reason Toriyama created the Android and Cell saga was to give Gohan the development he needs. After that the series was to end and Goku move on to the afterlife while his son and wife live in peace on Earth. You could say the fans are the reason why DBZ continues and they may be the reason why the series started to suck. Remember that Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z up til the Cell saga were all developed by Toriyama himself, he wrote the stories and he build the characters. Everything after those were all fan services and every story arcs that came after were possible due to feedbacks from the fans. At that point it's not Toriyama whose telling the story, it's the fans cause everything they want they got which is why the series started to sucks from there on.
@@shadowninja1116 I watched z long ago it was my childhood it came in cn I also watched get but I’m not a victim of nostalgia and know when to say that a show is better z>super>gt
Super will end one day and it will be forgotten. All the grandeur surrounding it will end. It will die, simply cease to exist.. Infact, it's already dying. GT, like Z, is a monument. It's a gem, a jewel, a treasure. It's a classic and that's why It will stand tall for millennia. DBS on the other hand is insignificant, and it's end will be the same.
GT is an era of peace and the whole point is Vegeta is older and alot more level headed no longer needing to prove himself to Goku, his arc was arguably complete when Majin Vageta sacrifices himself finally able to put everything else aside to do something completely selfless even knowing in all likelyhood he will end up going to hell and never see his best friend/Rival ever again. Vegeta in Super just feels like the same petty Vegeta who would throw away a fight just for the chance to fight someone strong (Like in the Cell Saga) and before you say 'Oh but UE Vegeta had to grow so he could keep rivaling Goku.' He got it off-screen and both UE and MUI somehow got one shot by Black Frieza which is just the SSJ2 of Frieza and it feels so underwhelming. Vegeta is one of my favourite character if not my favourite in the whole franchise, he grew as a character from Sayian saga to the end of GT, when fighting Omega Shenron he knew Goku would pull through, he wasn't trying to 1 up him anymore he knew he may be strong but Goku has always been a step ahead which is what makes seeing Vegeta's confidence in the defeat of Omega even better.
I am in pain. DB super had Namek Saga and Saiyan Saga potential with its characters, but they are so shallow or often nothing but a comedic relief rather than real beings. Whoever was the lead writter just straight up gave up entirely. Even the side characters can easily be explored to a whole spin off series. There is sooo much material to work with and they just used the most generic basic structure possible.
Thank you! I thought i was the only one. At least gt actually got character development down. Super ruins all of the characters and the stories are so pointless. The thing that ruined gt was the very slow and boring start but when they got to the baby arc then it finally got good
Just saw this and looked at your other content. Do more unpopular and anime style stuff. Less video game stuff. Grow as an anime channel and join the ranx bro. You could kill it with your analysis.
Thanks for the feedback! I started school shortly after this video, so I kind of got too tied up to make videos, but things are getting easier and I think I'll start making them again. :)
@Mason Taylor I'm not sure how helpful this is, but I just found your channel through this video and I liked it. For what it's worth, I tend to watch and enjoy video game content more than anime content. Obviously, make what you have a passion for, but I'm just saying that video games are cool and popular, so many people like them. I also think games tend to lend themselves more to analysis and discussion than tv shows, because games often spell themselves out less and focus on gameplay, while shows tend to simply show you a thing (this applies less to art films and obscure indie webshows). Take this for what you will, and keep up the good work. :)
I will say this...the fact that Super takes place in the "time gap" at the end of Z before the epilogue episodes is....annoying. I hate the idea that chronologically those final eps of Z take place after ALL of Super. I always enjoyed the fact that GT was in fact a full-blown SEQUEL to Z instead of the weird "Midquel" that Super was forced to be.
