ncudjsz i do agree with you a little bit, she definently has experience coming through her style of verses and combinations, that beat tho, perfect for her part, sick !
Yeah cheetah killed it but let's talk about Jidam... she was also AMAZING and i love her so much, she deserved so much better and even during that era she was underrated but the fact that she IS still underrated makes me feel bad too. I wish the best for her bc i think she was really better than a lot of rappers in that season of unpretty rapstar and when i say 'Really better' I MEAN THAT. She could be one of the top rappers in one of the girl groups, FIGHT ME. Also don't forget about the proud face jessi makes when it comes to Jidam and cheetah.
@@tinhnguyenthi9767 SAME I love Jessi so much too + Jidam deserved so much better and when i remember a lot of people don't like her bc of unpretty rapstar season 3... it just makes me so sad:(
Yuki James i think jimin won cuz of her lyrics? i hear some say cuz it had satirical content n shit n was rly smart of her and jidam was a bit weak this time she was just shouting n all over the place
Fiona Juju But admit the fact that she gets to show her specialties and capabilities as a rapper who loves music here. Just like Bizzy and Tiger JK verse: "Rapping ain't all about dissing and cussing." SO WHAT YOU MAD ABOUT.
Jimin: *facing Cheetah* "Alright, you keep on looking down on everything I do, but while your own friends don't even know your songs, they all know about me"
Joonyeob Yeo uhm, B.I. did say in ep5, "If you want to crush me, be better than me, or have more money than my agency....." It's ok if she attacks Cheetah as an ugly rapper (using the word ugly isn't the wisest choice), but then she talks about people knowing about her, not knowing Cheetah's songs etc etc, which kinda contradicts her wanting to have peace in hiphop, since aggression naturally comes from sparks like these. But yeah, at least got to give credit to Jimin for having that perspective.
Jimin talks about other rappers' cliche lyrics and aggressive attitudes, pretensions and dissing each other. For the people who don't understand what they are rapping about, Jimin may seem the weakest of three based on their aggressiveness. However, l liked the Jimin's lyrics the most. well written.
Yuki James Yeah the culture is about aggression, but not always against each other? like go watch WWE for that. It was about expressing your emotions, telling your story or trying to make a movement, if you want to start a battle that's fine too, but dissing others to look bad-ass isn't the way to go about it. In the 90's I saw that girl rappers rapped about sex (and how girls can be dominating too), which was taboo for girls but they changed it up and now more girls aren't afraid to be open about it. Here the girls could be rapping about how their cultures high beauty standard but no, its all bout "you fucking suck, I'm the queen" like whats that gon do? I know its a competition but Jimins criticism is not stupid, the judges could give them a topic to rap about like in show me the money they told them to rap about family.
Yuki James I agree with you. Jimin is not the worst. But it's time to step out of that idol scene and understand the a real rapper's point of view. I believe if she were a genuine rapper to begin with, she wouldn't think this way
Yuki James If you're talking about freestyling, yes it is about aggression and exposing your opponent's weaknesses. But if you're talking about rap culture as a whole, rap was actually created to "introduce and compliment" someone. back in the 60s-70s, MCs were making rhymes that says good things about the DJs playing at the club and to "pump up" the party. Then in the 80s, rap was about criticism over social/political issues which will give birth to gangsta rap in the late80s-early 90s. Rap in the 90s didn't really have an "identity" although it manages to get "mainstream" as rap "infiltrates" other music genres. So, dissing is just a fragment of rapping and not the whole entire culture. Aggression and dissing was made popular in the late 90s when freestyle battles became popular and many freestylers became mainstream and brought the aggression & dissing influence into the mainstream hip hop scene. But Rap is not entirely built on aggression and diss like you said.
Is Jimin having a rap battle with the floor or what?....She couldn't even look at Cheetah straight in the face for more than a second. Jimin improved compared to the first episode(more confidence, not rapping), and her flow is decent but come on, live it up. Rap like your life depended on it. I can tell Cheetah, Jolly V, Tymee, Jessi, and Jidam enjoy rap to the fullest. (Not sure about Kisum, but she's been stepping her game up lately). It's their damn lifestyle. They all express themselves differently but with the same charisma which shows they want to be there and they're committed to rap. I hope Jimin steps her game up.
"Old hip-hop"? I hope she knows old school hip-hop was built on the struggles of rappers and that's how they express themselves. There's nothing "peaceful" about hip-hop. It's a genre of expression and being aggressive through words. Oh gosh....Why is she on the show if she doesn't wanna "rap battle"? -.- anyway, thanks for translating lol
Yes my man, hopefully you weren't attacking me. I actually somewhat agree with Jimin that hip hop isn't necessarily all about dissing each other, but it can be used to express one's thoughts on a table called beat :) And she did talk about how she didn't want to rap battle on the show
Terisa Yen i think there were some "peaceful" things about hip hop if not all- after all it is a genre of expression like you said. one is not always aggressive throughout their life. there was a struggle but some rappers have also written raps on how they wish things were. and maybe she is in this show to see how she does in this show. since this is her feeling she spat in out in her verse- after all rap is about expressing yourself. some express it with anger whilst other express it with hope.
kamawanai900 I agree with you, as Jimin rapped, hip hop can be "culture", "philosophy", and the rappers should focus on real hip hop, not following and copying what everyone else is doing.
I personally dont support jimin at all, i like jessi and cheetah. But i think jimin deserved her 2nd place, to become an kpop idol leader, she would have to practiced and tried hard for a few years, and thats paying up especially in this show. As u can see they all saw jimin not worth it, and i can still somewhat feel that mind still havent changed in their competition. Jidam, kisum, lil cham, all have forgotten their lines once, but jimin havent. It shows how professional she is, and i really think thats great. People say that jidam had more power, but just being pushy and loud doesnt define powerfulness. Jimin's rap was really impressive, she didnt diss a lot, but still made the audience think about the meaning. I think thats really smart, for jidam, i just went right through, all i thought was ok... sure... ye shes good, i like her voice. But jimin made me focus. I didnt know female idol could be this talented, which makes me wonder if she is actually writing the lines.
And u guys should understand jimin's position, most of her fans would get so shocked and might leave her if she would directly diss the girls. I think her company wouldnt like that. And you know... these girls r not in america or something. i think this was the best she could do with her position as a famous kpop star, who might be dancing in front of elementry students tommorrow, or smiling in front of teenagers doing cute stuff. its just not right for korean people. If she directly dissed the girls, the public would be like, wow you were acting this whole time, you have dirty mouth, and your faked image for public is now gone. You see, this is how the public is gonna react. I dont know what more u guys expect of her.
First, she's not that popular second don't use jimins background cuz this is a rap competition if she can't give everything she has she should just leave
"didnt know female idol could be this talented, which makes me wonder if she is actually writing the lines." maybe you should rid yourself of your prejudice against female idols.
She memorizes lyrics as a job...why is it hard to believe she wrote her own lyrics and was able to memorize them? "I didn't know female idols could be this talented, which makes me wonder if she is actually writing the lines" really? So because she's talented you automatically think wow this can't be true. That's sad. Jimin did well because for one she is a professional but she's also extremely talented and I wish people would get over the idol status. We're here to judge the rapping without any strings attached.
Lucas Perroni yeah i know that, but even though this was a diss rap and she failed on doing the mission, I just kinda appreciated how she tried express her feelings about how hip hop has changed through the course of the years. maybe she didn't really care about winning on this at all and chose to just tell her feelings? or idk whats her reason :D
Yukjidam. Well, I like ur voice jidam, I feel my ears bleeding and I love it, seriously. Cheetah. .-. You are always first on my list guhlll... how about that laughing, mental breakdown expert 💪 Jimin. I dont undrstand why people keep looking her as girlgroup rapper, move on, in this show jimin is a girl like another and she rap. Many people underestimate on her about girlgroup reason, ignorant! She proove herself, even the pro once admit her rap was good. Okay rap god out there, say whatever. There's no requirement contestant has to be unerground rapper, so Jimin is fine and I like her voice. I thought she will do worse but she improve far better.
Yuki James agree about that one. She always rap in the safe lane in her group. So, if it about power she still far behind everyone. Seen as person, jimin not the best, cheetah and jidam still there, but people comment about she not deserve to be there just too much. I am not AOA fan, so I am very sure not being biased when said she did it better and improve very much 👌🙆
Yuki James I really like her as a rapper. And that's what I'm hoping that she gets out of this show, the confident stage persona. In my opinion that would make a whole lot better.
sari dianita Thank you! Yes! Finally someone smart. I couldn't agree more! This show is really good. It's nice that we can see unexpected things from those girls. They rock!
Dulce R. I dont want to be mean, but at some point I think the show needs her, that persona u said, agree again, and whatever it end up people bash or praise her, first time watch this cause Jimin there. Her popularity help the show. Yeah that my opinion as non korean cause my tv channel doesnt aired them and I need effort to watch, but I did ^^
Erin I am not hardcore aoa fan but me even feel insulted when people underestimating her. How could... :/, we have diff ears some people maybe annoyed with her voice but her talent, she write her own rap part, she has them confident and self esteem. I love her here, simply like that ^^
Honestly, Jimin's style and voice should be given its credits. She sounds commercial and sellable. The other two are great, but they're not the type that the public will consume. And don't say that they're doing it just for passion, because if they do, they wouldn't need to join this show.
Look at the comments now, what is this public you are talking about? If someone with Cheetah's voice and rap skills happens to be in a girl group, she will probably succeed more than Jimin, with marketing, visual, and company being constant. Idol rappers like Miryo are the ones still being praised to this day more than other girl group rappers. No offence to Jimin, she sounds good and "sellable", but the other rappers are too.
***** But they aren't though. We can talk about what ifs and shoulda woulda couldas, but they're not in a girl group and they don't have that marketing/look/company, and based on Cheetah's diss against Jimin, she won't be in a girl group any time soon. I didn't even say their voices and styles are bad, its just that what they do are not for the masses. I instantly connected with Jimin's style, her choice of music, and the way she delivered her piece. The other two, not that instant. Other than this show, I have no idea who the other two are. Granted, I only know Jimin thru Mini skirt and Like a Cat, but that's two songs over the other two.
***** There are some logical flaws. You talked about style and voice...which means Cheetah's personality and cruel diss are out of the equation. Secondly, it is precisely because she is in a girl idol group that we cannot attribute her success solely to her raps + her qualities as a rapper. There are so many other things she is selling besides her raps, so we there is no way to determine whether her voice is sellable or not. As for me, I have provided facts that are not perfectly concrete but give better support to Cheetah's style and voice....Miryo's great reputation as a rapper (her style is more similar to underground rappers), and a survey of the public opinion (youtube comments). Thirdly, your sole opinion on connection is irrelevant. Fourthly, you brought up marketing/look/company which I have already addressed in my earlier comment. Just because Cheetah isn't famous doesn't mean her style and voice are not sellable. Her being an underground rapper means you cannot use popularity to compare them, since they showcase their work to totally different channels. But when she appeared on the series, put beside Jimin, her fame shot from zero to hero.
Jimin may rap well and have good lyrics, but she does NOT have that rap attitude. She looks too sweet and shy, and she had her head down the whole time she was rapping, like she was saying all that stuff but didn't actually mean it enough to look them in the eye and say it.
You cannot say she DOESN"T have a RAP ATTITUDE, what is that? is there an exact guideliness or rule for being a rapper? NO. Althought most rapper always shows fierce and strong image it doesnt mean you have to do that to be rapper. Everyone has their style of rap.
To this day Cheetah still killed this. Jimin is great too but lyrically Cheetah knocked it out. She didn't just diss she added intelligence into it. It's not just catchy lyrics and recycled disses
Watching this performance with Jidam and then watching the current season with her in it, its amazing how much shes grown up and grown in her rap as well!
I'm a really big fan of Jimin but if you compare her rap to cheetah's for instance, you'll realize jimin's rap kinda leans towards the "idol pop" kinda rap while cheetah really killed it with something you'll seldom see in the idol industry. Maybe that's one of the reasons why people keep looking her down, she lacks some of the tough hip hop feels
Yo ima seriously about to tear up too much awesomeness. like wtf they were soo awsome. Battles are 10x more exciting when every participant is on point. Lool made respect.
Felt as though Cheetah was more into jimin's face because she knows jimin is the weakest of them 3. I liked how Jidam wasnt afraid to go to cheetah's face. I just wished jimin had a little more confidence!!
im very proud of jimin , she has RESPECT On her rap . and the fact that she goes with the flow of the underground rappers is just A+MAZING .. better slayyy jimin
The last girl was most definitely dissing the floor! xD Looking your opponents straight in the eyes is a sign of confidence! Something like the others were doing or how Jessi does it! :)
Anna K. I think she can’t look cuz she already know cheetah has guts . Hehe bullies are cowards who can only deal with someone weaker than themselves. They arent brave enough to mess with tough ones.
Probably why Jimin didn't diss Jidam face to face was because Jidam only dissed everyone older than her in general, where Cheetah told her to stop crying until 3am lol
I loved Jimin in the beginning, but she really just irked me in the later episodes. her raps were beginning to sound the same and her lyrics were all pretty similar. She came into the show talking about how the others looked down on her because she's an idol. Bobby from iKon did shit on his own and didn't want to be looked at as a rapper that was made in SMTM and tried to break free from the idol name, and did. Jimin never fails to mention that she's an idol. Her lyrics could've been about something else, something deeper, but they weren't. They were about CF deals and being top stars. Bobby tried so hard to build up some cred for idol rappers and Jimin is just making all that work go down the drain
MaeilYogurt Yep, this is why I didn't care for her, idol or not. Bobby and B.I. were idols and they manage to do something different and get away from that stigma. Also, her voice being unique is no-no. You can easily replace her with HyunA in all of her songs and have the same effect. The only thing that I was semi-impressed by is that she wrote her own lyrics because at least she did that. They weren't even that clever, tbh, but the judges were impressed because "she went hard" and her mousy image helped make that unexpected. If she's not an idol, none of them would think it's that cute.
***** MaeilYogurt Can i ug both of you? I agree so much. I always see people saying how her voice is so amazing when in reality hyuna and LE have a similar voice (except LE is the real deal as far as idol rapper) I think in the final round we saw really what she can only rap about. When she was supposed to make something with more meaning about herself but it was no different ( visually and lyrically) from any idol stage performance. She is a smart girl and a good rapper but she can't seem to really break out much from the idol image with her lyric.
Cheetah slays so damn hard. Jessi: I like her stage presence but arrogance will be her downfall. Jidam: Slays but there is something off I just can't pin point it. Kisum: She has potential. Tymee: She's great at dissing but her other stuff just isn't my style. Jimin: hmmmm she's got potential but i feel like she is suited for idol music Jolly V: Same as Tymee Lil Cham: She needs to find the rhythm and spend a little bit more time on her lyrics Jace: not really sure about her yet but so far she is pretty good.
i swear that they don't even hate each other as much as it looks because of the editing ahahah. Like the still smile and everything during the competitions raps and if you look closely they talk to each other while they are on the sidelines.
1:03 There's something strange, Cheetah passed the microphone from her left hand to the right one, but immediately in the next shot it was still in the left hand. What was that?
they don't shoot multiple times.... If this was the case, when lil cham forgot her lyrics, it would've been reshot... What happened here was cheetah's rap was cut (edited shorter by cutting out a few verses). Unpretty and mnet in general cuts the songs cuz they're too long to air/not interesting to air the whole rap anyway
+Jenny Taylor lol how do you know that? If you don't know about it don't say like it's a fact. They don't lip synch, and they don't do several takes. They actually rap once and that's it. The reason why it's edited is because it's too long. There is a time limit to the program. I believe it's around an hour. And of course they're not doing freestyle rap. It isn't suppose to be freestyle. I think you don't even watch the show. Why are you here telling lies to people lol jussss get lost
+moonstaff1234 But I think some scenes are shooted several times because If you watch the teaser of the episode 4 with kisum tymee and Jolly V ,she didn't forget her lyrics But in the broadcsted version ,she forgot them
Gosh people You know.what..Jimin maybe playing safe and all that...Jimin doesn't want to make enemy in looking at her opponents eyes...well hello yeah she's in a girl group and whatever she does may affect her group....She is the leader, it's still her priority to not do things that may give bad image to the group...bec of her, bec. she's the leader(You might not know..haha)!!!! She improved in her raps...that's what matters to me... Yeah she needs to step higher but not like them...they all look so tough and look high... I want Jimin to stay humble even in rap... If she loose it and do like them...hmpt.... It will not be cool.... but anyway..Jimin is a nice girl... so expect her to be nice even to her opponent!!! 미처....
I bet you're now regretting what you just wrote about her being a "Nice" Leader and not doing things that can give a bad image or affect her group . . . . . . . . Cause she's the one who made the bad image to her own group
Jimin's lyrics were good but the only thing I really don't understand is, why would she go for Cheetah if she's that scared of her. When she said that line about people not knowing Cheetah she wasn't even looking at her and Cheetah didn't look impressed at all. I'd give credit to Jidam for at least looking at Cheetah while rapping
