Hello everyone. This is a quick Tutorial, how to customise your Car.
I used the Version 4.27.2 of the Unreal Engine for this one.

Amazing tutorial as always. I was wondering for the next tutorial, could you make a character customization/select which then DRIVES a vehicle after your done customizing the character? And can you do it with Metahuman to achieve very high quality humans and include steering animation for the vehicle and character to make it look more real? If so, Thank you very much for doing so :)

Nice tutorial as always, I know you do more realistic car tutorials , any chance you can do some hover car mechanics?like with customizable handling, speed, acceleration etc.

You could also do this using custom data, that way the meshes can all share the same material, and you just change the custom data values.

@ProtophaseMusic not specifically, as there are lots, but there are 2 ways of doing this. Either using Custom Primitive Data or Per Instance Custom Data. In the material, you can sample both types of custom data and use it to drive all kinds of things like colors, lerps, UV changes like changing udim slots etc. Then, in the level or bp, you would select your mesh, and in the details tab, add in the custom data for the material to read. Edit: or set the custom data using code or bp to make a customization system like this video. Instead of changing materials, you just change data values.

Thank you for the tutorial. It helps. I have more questions: How would you add different car meshes? For instance, first menu choice button is a car mesh type, then the choices of color and customization are based off of the initial mesh type chosen? And how to lock a choice until the player has done something in the game to unlock it?

That would be the same System, so you would replace the Mesh with the "Set Skeletal Mesh" Function inside the HUD as shown. If you want to create a "unlock" System, you would create Buttons for this things and set a condition inside the HUD or inside the Car.

And will the hood open if the body has a bone without a hood mesh and when you install a static mesh or do you need to convert to a skeletal mesh?

You can Animate both a Skeleton Mesh or an Static Mesh.

Hey, i have a message when i try changing color, it says : Blueprint Runtime Error: "Accessed None trying to read property Car". Blueprint: Custom_widget Function: Execute Ubergraph Custom Widget Graph: EventGraph Node: Set Material What should i do ?

can you Please make a video of how to customise your If it is changing the colour or changing the amount of torque i dont really care But i want you to make a tutorial when there is a main menu (My game only has one car) and there is a button which says upgrade and wehn you click it it will take you to an upgrading menu and when you press on a button for example torque increase it will increase the power of the car then when you press on play and select your level it will apply the stats which you have chosen but I have only made the visuals and all of the designing the main menu and all that I just want to know how to apply the settings and see your car go faster thanks By the way the other video that you made a tutorial of changing the car colour but it wasn't my type cuz it was In one level in my game you are in the main menu level and after upgrading you car and press on the play button you get to another level THanks bye.
