you CAN save/load DataAssets, since they already live on disk not in memory

i have tried and ran into issues. the references to them very much seem to be like any other pointer, a memory address. The assets live on the disk, but in order for them to get used, the engine has to load them into memory, so any time you reference an asset, you're referencing the one in memory, not streaming them directly from disk. which is why you can't save them directly.
