Bro this song specifically and this soundtrack absolutely imprinted on me for life. I’m 36 now and i showed it to my 8yo son and he can’t get enough either.
One of the best introductions to the DnB genre of all time. This track is responsible for making a whole generation of gamers fall in love with Drum and Bass without even knowing it.
@@mr3lion The most similar song to this one I ever found is: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ikPJOm5NZvw.html But other songs of BSE are kinda harder.
This is possible in Outer Wilds. Just jump into a water elixir/stream and get shot high into the air, then activate the Jetpack. That way you can fly to the moon! This also works in reverse, you can jump from the Moon down to the planet. Pretty awesome!
Back when this Game came out, my Father decided to buy our first PC. Unbeknownst to him he bought one the most expensive Gaming PC´s available which came with a bunch of Accessories and Games, including UT99. So as a 7-year old boy, i installed it and got immediately hooked. Every Time my parents were away, I would end up playing Facing Worlds, standing on top of one of the Towers and Sniping the shit out of the enemy Bots, chaning Monsterkills in the process. This ended a couple of months later, when one evening - i was playing UT way past my bedtime - my parents came home from a party, only for them to hear in shock M-M-Monsterkill or the anguish Screams of dying Bots and dismemberment sounds coming from the PC Speakers. This Game has a special place in my Heart...
Before I got a dial-up connection, I would play vs the bots, and I would lose hours just admiring the level :') and listening to this song before starting the match.
Facing worlds was ahead of it's time. Because of the way they made the sky rotate in multiple directions. So that's why I admired the map and song as well.
@@user-ll2rv6rx4f translated for our russian brother. "Pf ... Dude, there are also brothers in Mother Russia. Played this game and will play !! By the way, this melody is on my alarm clock)) and this is the only melody on the alarm clock that does not annoy in the morning))) for about 7 years already"
The essence of atmospheric (or intelligent) drum&bass as it was known back then. People interested in this kind of sound may want to check the music by the label Good Looking Records: LTJ Bukem, Artemis, Tayla, PFM, Makoto, Seba ... Of course, those who know what I'm talking about are probably familiar with the stuff already.
Wow, thank you a lot for sharing this! I've been listening to (and making) various forms of D'n'B for many years, but never heard any of the names you've mentioned.
And the channel "Ambiance" Here on youtube has a lot of mixes and tracks of atmospheric DnB [ru-vid.com/show-UCAw0NyC_6y-se4zcQGbEgHA] I'm kinda burnt on the genre, listened it for like 4 months straight lol, all the mixes i've heard are pretty much in that channel (Not spam lol) It has some great mixes, Seba, Mouly, Future Engineers, Voyager, Deep Blue, Bukem, etc. Hope i helped :]
One of the best, if not THE BEST, game tracks ever! I'm 38 now and still play Unreal Tournament (1999), now with my daughter. Such nostalgia! This is one of the tracks that really got me into D&B as a kid. God bless!
I got this track on Fortnite and I've had it applied ever since. It still hasnt gotten old. I'm very grateful it appeared in the shop coincidentally shortly after I started playing, and when i had just 200 Vbucks left. I love this song! also i forgot i already had a comment. oh well! just shows more of my appreciation for this wonderful song
Games can be the best of their kind, but if they lack in music they won't pack the same punch into people's opinions and minds as much if they have great songs
I used to play UT99 as a kid, and it's incredible how your childhood experiences seem to hardwire your brain to certain things. Every time I listen to this style of music I get really nostalgic. Recently I decided to search for some of the games I played as a kid and it all makes sense, as they were an integral part of my upbringing and many things I appreciate today date back to those experiences. I'm still trying to find all the maps I used to play, I'm not sure if they were mods or not. Either way, what a game!
Wanna hear something equally nostalgic? Look up the album artists for this game and several other of your favorite games from then. Alexander Brandon has been involved in SO MANY of the childhood games I remember. I wanna meet that man and thank him for a lifetime's worth of memories through music.
@@ArnieMcStranglehold Alexander Brandon, Brian Tyler, Amon Tobin and a few others come to my mind. There's a familiarity in their symphonies that, even if you find them in another videogame or even movie, you can recognize it because they've been present in your life for such a long time. I don't play videogames much anymore, but to be honest I feel like that uniqueness is not present in more recent games (exceptions apply).
Did you also play the modded community levels of a living room and toilet etc, where the players where tiny, so you could hide inside the toilet and find hidden weapons. Or snipe from the ledge on top of the toilet mirror?
@@CrazyGaming-ig6qq We played those in CS 1.x for hours. There was one where you could turn on the stereo and it would play the intro of Heart's Barracuda and shake the ground violently as soon the drums came in. You would fall of ladders and edges... Those days...
@@youtubestopyourcensorshipp1869 Alexander Brandon and Michiel van de Bos. Michiel made this track, and for Deus Ex also he made most notable UNATCO HQ track and others
I always wished I was born earlier so I could experience things like this firsthand. Sure, nothing's stopping me from getting UT99 now and finding a server or something, but it won't be the same as when people played it in the early 2000s.
It was a very wild and more free time back then, no micro transactions, just pure crazy gamer chaos also there were more big developers able to take more big chances with new things. So happy I heard this song yesterday in fortnite store, had to buy this, it's been a very long time since I last played unreal tournament but yo this brought me back just vibing or getting salty with the fellas while playing this game including, old school counter strike, Doom, Quake, Half Life Multiplayer and Duke Nukem 3D. Gaming is still fun in 2023 but in 90s and 00s it was insanely wild (idk i feel that's the best way I can sum it up :D)
That opening melody immediately hits me like a warm blanket and sets my mind at ease, and then as soon as it kicks up in tempo I'm lookin for the shock rifle.
I started my UT journey when I was entering high school. The fast paced action combined with the soundtrack sold it for me. 35 now and still listening to this, two decades later. It also introduced me to DnB and have always listened to the soundtrack during the various stages of my life. This game has been very iconic and unforgettable to me. M-M-MONSTER KILL!
even in 2005 at my high school we were playing the UT demo on IBM pentium classics and Soldier of Fortune 2 on the dell workstations, everyone knew where the game files were hidden on the share. I hope my kid engages in similar malfeasance someday
@JordanManfrey (friends and) I did this as a teen as well, 2004 or so. We played Skulltag (Doom 2 DM/CTF) on the Dells. Anyway found out that Net Send was still enabled on every PC... so I tried it. net send "moo". And it popped up on every teacher's computer within a minute or two. Oops. Next day we visit the Principal's office. It's the new one, and we're the new freshmen. She yells at us for fifteen minutes in the meeting room about wasting school resources before making us call our parents. All the parents chuckled or didn't care. But no, that Principal, she was like "I have to show these teens I mean business!" Now, twenty years later, I'm IT support/admin. I worked for a school district for a few years, and the kids can sneak games via Chrome extensions to work around the Admin listing rules. As long as it's not pr0n or malware, have fun :)
Every time this song starts up all I can hear is the loud sound of teleporters and splatting/screaming. Changing the player count to 32 always resulted in messy starts thanks to the lack of spawn points.
i think its awesome millenials have hit the nostalgia stage. i really love the feeling honestly, constantly youtubing stuff i played or listened to at 12
This song goes with damn near ANY game. F***ng amazing. Brings me back to the good ol' days. But also reminds me of the good days to come. You can always bring the old with you to create the new.
CTF-Face, max number of bots and a sniper rifle was almost a meditative experience. Just the soothing sound of this track punctuated by constant *HEADSHOT*s.
In 2019, Epic actually pays homage to this game by releasing a Rare Music Locker Item called "Unreal Chill". It's literally this song. I'm happy Epic doesn't forget about their other games.
i think this about RU-vid comments.. Will some people read them in a few thousand years and wonder who we were and what our lives were like? and will the comment say "3000 years ago" beside it for the indication of the time it was posted?
I played this game pretty heavily in the 2000's. Absolutely love UT99 as an arena style FPS, and the music just makes the awesome package more complete. Legendary.
This music is timeless. It's been 21 yeas since this game came out, but as soon as I close my eyes, I find myself back on that spinning rock in orbit around Earth, marveling at the beauty of the cosmos.
When I was a child it was fun to play and listen to this, but now it's MAGICAL. It's a whole new level of enjoyment. I relive my memories through this.
I played this game when I was 5 yo.... there were no dlcs, no season pass, no roadmap, only pure fun and absolutely immersive music. I'm now near 30, but would still recognize any sound from UT.
In fifth grade I set all the kitchen window blinders on fire while playing UT instead of watching the oil on the stove while preparing lunch. I was very lucky I didn't get burnt. The kitchen had a faint burnt oil smell for a few years even after the special cleaning and repainting the walls and ceiling. My parents actually didn't scold me too hard, because they were relieved I wasn't hurt. I love this soundtrack to this day. I was hooked on this game.
I played this sometimes but ALWAYS PLAYED Unreal Tournament 2004 my senior year in High School. The remake of this Map was always a favorite. The 2004 Soundtrack always gave me energy. Some songs were similar to this, but THIS SONG is an absolute classic. Feels like a time-capsule now.
holy cow. the days i would spending playing this, starsiege tribes and mechwarrior pirate moon absolute bangers. absolute fire music. its cool how amazing art survives the span of time
I was never a huge fan of FPS. Usually preferred RTS and RPG games. But UT99, now that was an awesome game. Spent a good chunk of my high school years playing it. What was really amazing about it is that it was slow enough so the strategy mattered and not just fast fingers (at least at my noob level that was true).
I mean i kinda understand what he means, if you play with bots, or defense, you can order people around, specialy bots. I remember doing that just order the bots around made me feel like a commander, Id just stay in base, giving orders,CTF and domination
Arena Fps are fun because when you get used to the speed, it evens out, you get into the flow, and you are opened up to a more strategic macro-paced meta game. I think that's why the slower-paced tracks in UT work so well.
I was born in 2003, so obviously too young to know this game at its peak. Though, I remember playing this map on a TF2 community server and having a lot of fun, despite it being a little unsuited for TF2's weapons (some weapons were way too good). This map, the space aesthetics and this amazing DnB song are really nice - it's uncommon to see such simple yet cool things made today.
I love Unreal Tournament. I got UT and Q3 the same time on my SEGA Dreamcast and I think, from the beginning I liked UT a little bit more. The sniper-rifle was nice.
2:31 the adrenaline one would get : *teleport sounds* character : I got the flag *teleport sounds* *grabs the rocket* 2:51 u're halfway through the bridge and ppl blasting u from behind while u had enemy snipers camping on your tower. it was a magical feeling for that time, that synth is embedded on my brain man
Amazing how we've gone backwards in terms of inspiration and innovation. Sure, our technology achieves more and with more convenience, but lack of originality and imagination is killing our generation.
Simply the best! Friends and I were hooked on this game. I remember playing for hours with them both online and on our local LAN. Hard to believe it has been 21 years though, seems like yesterday.
I remember hearing about UT from the Angry German Kid videos that popped up back in the day. But when I finally played it, it was euphoric, some of the best sense of movement and verticality I've ever seen in any game. What became of the recent UT makes me sad.
Man, what do you mean you passed out and dreamed you were in the 2020s? It's still 1999, you are at a LAN party since the last 72 hours with all your friends and we have summer holidays. We're starting a new round of UT, are you in?
This must be one of the most timeless sound ever to exist. If I would hear this for the first time today, it would have the same power as it would have back in the days of the early 2000s
Man, Unreal Tournament 99 was one of my favourite games as a young teenager. Loved spending hours after school on single player Facing Worlds back in the day. This along DM-Morpheus guaranteed hours of fun! Still two of my most favourite maps of all time of any FPS - so simplistic yet so fun and with brilliant and imaginative design. Luckily, the game is still available in Steam. Amazing nostalgia! Huge props and respect for Inoxx / Cedric Fiorentino who created these two of the greatest maps, as well as for Michiel van den Bos who made this amazing soundtrack
As I read through the comment section, while listening to this masterpiece and as nostalgia hits me harder than a redeemer, I wanted to write something down. But all of you fckers have me in tears and there is nothing to say
- Eat that! - You suck! - I just slaughtered that guy! - Try turning the safety off! - Boom! - Sit down! - I'm sorry, did I blow your head apart? - Too easy! So many memorable taunts
First of all sorry for my english.:/ Before 1999 (like others) i played with player vs enviroment FPS games like Quake 1-2, Halflife and many other games. Than i installed UT first time and try to play against something else... Bots. When i noticed first time i rly did not belive what am i see. An AI and a solution what can simulate and play like a human. Cooperate, help, kill each others.. This was my biggest shocking thing what i experienced first time in the world of computer games. Bots are totaly changed the gameplay in these times. And now i happy to see the UT4 is following the first UT's atmoshere finaly. Best HC FPS eva'!
Этот трек влюбил меня в DnB, тяжело описать что испытываю слушая этот трек... ностальгию, беззаботность, домашний уют тех лет. Почти как вспомнить лето в деревне))
The first time I played on this map, it blew my mind. The graphics with the music just created such a great atmosphere. Graphics today are sometimes hard to distinguish from reality, but will never create this feeling in me again.
For almost 8 years now, since 2016, this melody has been on the alarm clock. I am so used to waking up to work in the morning to this tune that I can no longer imagine another alarm clock ringtone.
