Sorry I was not clear, the OLD BOB figure was the planned Magnetic line of Black Hole figures, it was NEVER RELEASE, the line was NEVER released, This is NOT the Bob for the figure that that did get release out side the US. Sorry I wasn't clear on that..
Great video of Mego Action Figures, Junkman. :) The Black Hole had great action figures by Mego, V.I.N.CENT along with Maximilian and Dr. Hans Reinhardt were awesome action figures, and I always loved The Black Hole. The Black Hole is a very underappreciated and brilliant sci-fi Disney film, The Black Hole just like Moonraker had excellent John Barry music scores and great trading cards, and The Black Hole along with Moonraker with Roger Moore and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle are all way more better films than Spaceballs. I also love both Moonraker and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle. Moonraker is a very underrated and awesome Roger Moore bond film, Moonraker will always be my favorite Roger Moore bond film, and Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle was a very funny and stellar comedy film from start to finish.
I do remember owning some Black Hole figures when the movie came out. Probably from the 1979 release. Had Vincent, Old Bob & Maximillan. Somehow these all disappeared even though I still have most everything I owned as a kid.
As a MEGO collector, I would've loved to have seen these figures go into production. Who knows? Now that MEGO has been back for a few years, perhaps they'll get a 2nd lease on life! You never know!
unfortunately the new megos do not have the same quality as the ones from years ago...the new mego female body is horrible....and short...it makes them look like dwarfs...I do not know why the new mego does not use the same female body from decades ago...also the new female heads are terrible looking.
My Grandmaw had a FLINTSTONES HOUSE... but the fact that the figures were so short..it didn't work with Star Wars figure.. The roof hight was too low.. The first rock house playset..
@That Junkman I have always liked ''The Black Hole''. Sure.... It was ''Disney's'' way of capitalizing on the success of ''Star Wars''. But the story was original, and has even been compared to (Jules Verne's 20,000 Leagues under the Sea). By the way! That was ''Slim Pickens'', who did the voice of (Old BO.B. LF-28). I agree with you about ''The Greatest American Hero'' 8 inc Pam Davidson figure. ''Connie Sellecca'' would have been PISSED OFF! If that hideous thing got released.
I got the entire Black Hole toy collection for Christmas. I remember seeing B.O.B. On the back of the card and begged to go to every store in order to find him. Never had a clue he wasn’t even produced.
@@jhmed9 the last series was released in canada and italy, so that makes sense. still a rare figure, so if you have one that's fantastic. i wish i had a rare figure from my childhood.
Greatest American Hero had almost gotten to shelves..6 inch and 3 inch including Pam's beetle,Ralph.and Ralph in school clothes,Bill and Pam.I.ssw.a.set of all 6 inch figures including the bug complete with packaging going for 2500 bucks
Somehow times has played tricks on me. I think back on the black hole with the same fondness as a new hope when it came out. Vincent and Bob are kinda dumb looking though.
When I was a kid I thought it was Amigo like from Spain toys. I did not have any Megos or Amigos but liked GI Joes and Transformers, dolls were for girls.
Thank you for calling him Bruce Jenner, as that's what he was calling himself when he was on CHiPs. It's really annoying when people credit "Kaytlin Jenner" as being in CHiPs, especially when Jenner himself said he doesn't care what people call him in the present.
My Father worked for Mego from the 70’s through the early 80’s and on his last day ( being let go ) I remember him bringing home all his stuff home from the office in large cardboard boxes , and in one of the boxes that he let my younger brother and me open was full of Megos Superheroes , Planet of the Apes , Happy Days , and about a couple dozen prototype Ralph Hinkley GAH figures .. we had so many , that lol my brother and me would use them as targets for our BB guns ..smfh Junkman little did I know how much they would be worth in the future , I could cry 💰💰💰😭
Eric Estrada never left the show. Larry Wilcox did. It was a combination of royalty disputes and Estrada wanting more spotlight on him at the expense of Wilcox getting turned into a second-string character.
As a kid I always pretended to be John rather than Poncharelli. Little did I know that the ladies were probably tripping all over themselves for ponch and John would have been the left overs. Too bad they never made the CHPS action figures withevthe long sleeve and bow tie uniforms (I could not believe these really exist, a kid in my army unit was getting out to go to the cHP and mentioned the bow tie, I looked em up, they are ridiculous looking).
He left for 3 episodes during a dispute about syndication money. Was replaced with Bruce Jenner. The following seasons Wilcox left the show, for the full and final season
Well I hate to contradict this fine fella but I actually had the old bob figure that I had purchased at an S.S. kresge store back in 1979. It was the smaller Star Wars size one. Also the zombie crew as well as “STAR” the Black robot . I think the it was only available up here in Canada at the time.
Nope it was not, the old BOB was release in the basic figure line outside the US the one seen here is, same size, but part of the planned Magnetic series. No figure was release from the planned Magnetic line.
@@spankynater4242 Well maybe not magnetic line. but I definitely Had a smaller Old bob figure and i remember wondring why he had both gravity spheres on his lower half rather than one. Also like i said had STAR the black century robot as well as the regular one, Maximillian and the zombie crew member Had those as well as Buck Rogers 25th Century figures in same scale. Maybe they were here in CANADA As well. But i did have them.
Amazing finds! 3:31 Ralph looks like a nightmare vision. And I think Pam worked alongside Worf and Chancellor Gorkon at one point... Moving heads up and down is actually very boring. Logan's Run would have been fun. I'd get all Dark Helmet on Jessica and Logan! 😏
There was a Bill Maxwell MEGO doll for the "Greatest American Hero" series as well. I think the GAH dolls were the last ones done before MEGO went under.
@@robd1329 it would. i'm not sure what figures haven't been made by this point by some company. but, to have a consistent scale and style would be nice. the figures i was probably the most disappointed with not being made in the 80's (good grammar, huh) would be 'the wrath of khan.'
there is a forty year gap between the end of 'our gang'...and the mego our gang toys....were they that popular or were ''the greatest generation''...trying to ram them down our throat?
old b.o.b. was produced, but only released in canada and italy in the third series along with the amazingly hard to find humanoid and s.t.a.r.. i vaguely kind of recall a brick mantooth/plaid stallion video about the 'logan's run' outfits being produced, the line cancelled, but the clothes wound up on rack toys. i think a lot of that happened to the 'star trek' outfits, too. my memory is a little fuzzy on which exact lines that happened to.
@@ThatJunkman sorry, i'm not sure what you mean by magnetic line. i think most people believe the old b.o.b. vintage figure was never produced, i used to think that, also. a good video would be toys we wish we'd gotten in the u.s.. i would have loved a roboskull from palitoy's action force line. check that bad boy out if you haven't already, i would bet good money you of all people would love that thing.
