A rare opportunity to see exactly the way a Lionel Postwar Train set was packed and its components. I opened a Sealed 1969 Lionel Train set number 11740 that included Rock island 2041 Alco's, a 6315 Gulf tank car, a 6476 Hopper, a 6014 Boxcar, a 6142 Gondola and a 6059 Caboose. Look at how they were packed and secured in the box to protect the contents! WOW.
Note how the liners are set, how they kept everything firm and undamaged (MOSTLY), and how there was no space left for anything else! Pretty cool.
Substitutions noted were the 6059 Caboose rather than a 6057. Also, this set had red canisters instead of white shown on box. Some past auction results show this set with an orange 6014 boxcar (Reasonable substitution) and sometimes with a Black hopper (Also reasonable). huh!!
I also marvel at how they put it all the box, it was tougher than you think, but it all went back together like a puzzle!
