I did not expect this to be noticed, let alone reach 400k! Please check out Maths Town for more visuals like this, I did not expect my video that included their work to blow up like this. There is a playlist on my channel with these tracks in order if you want to shuffle or skip through this.
@@neighbor472 Aphex twin is 62, playboi carfi gave birth to him at 12 years old after being impregnated by bill Clinton , that's why his complexion is so mild and clean
You are not alone, it took me decades for his work to "click" and now I'm absolutely in awe of his specific sort of casual brilliance. He's a modern Mozart who has pushed music forward and continues to challenge listeners to catch up. When we arrive there we find that he was right all along.
when im having a hard time with life or my mental or creating more music and art i always find myself turnin to the countless aphex twin mixes on youtube or soundcloud. i may lose friends i may lose sanity i may lose minutes but at least when the clocks turn and the sand settles i can have aphex playin in the background as i drift off into the ether once and for all it sucks everything has to be so hard but life is as life is i love it thanks to aphex
For years I’ve meant to get into podcasts but I pretty much always get distracted by much more beautiful & beneficial listening experiences like this mix. There’s only so much time!
Fair comment about listening and chilling. You could always blend a podcast in with the music, like another tab for example. Then pause, change volumes etc of either as you go. Make the best of both so to speak. Could also make for an interesting blend depnding on the podcast subject. Enjoy as you do.
@@NullAndVoidEmpire that’s true, although I think something is lost in doing that (and I’m saying that as someone who’s done it a lot). What you’re essentially describing is multitasking, which the human brain really isn’t suited for and is in fact pretty bad at. Monotasking is on paper less productive, but I think we all get much more out of completely devoting our attention to one thing at a time.
can you imagine what it must have been like to experience one of his live sets back when he was part of the free party scene ? Those raves must have been otherworldly.
I never went to a free rave with aphex twin playing but went to plenty others. It' hard to describe without writing 10,000 words. I'd just say it was a freer time. Things were easier. People just got along and had fun. I remember we'd ring a number at about 8-9 oclock and the answer message would tell us where to go. under a motorway or an empty warehouse etc. The traffic getting in was always fun. People would have tunes blasting from their cars. people just dancing wherever they were. Hard dancing not just swaying - having it on the hard shoulder. Girls fully in the mix too. Dancing and sweating like their lives depended on it. pilled up chewing their faces off haha. Lost to time now. Gotta look pretty or tough I guess these days. No cameras flashing back then so people didn't feel the need to be self conscious or hold back. Think its more about shaming each other today instead of just being in the moment. Hopefully things will revert soon :)
@@kevinsedwardssounds awful these days, im 34, but back in my teens i saw Aphex a few times and it always involved ecstacy. Not only were they the best days of my life but its the time where i learned the most about people, connections, love and life. Truly transformed me into a man from a boy in more ways than one. Its naive to just consider it "getting wasted and learning nothing", of course - doing that all your life wont do you any favours but as a young teen to early 20's person id always recommend it, id also recommend ecstacy if you have problems enjoying being around groups as it completely voids that element. Might not be for everyone and now that ive been in the scene, both participating and hosting events, getting to have dinner with my heros like Ed DMX, Wisp etc i now appreciate just sitting in and listening to music more. I would never trade the rave days though.
I still remember Torino, 2005, Aphex with Chris Cunningham at the visuals... it was at Pellerina Park, 400.000 sq. m. and you could feel the bass crushing your chest half km. before the park´s entrance... best EQ´d (and louder) sound system I´ve ever heard, by far. Compared to that, Roger Water´s at Hyde Park (2018) sounded like an old car stereo, for reference... XD
Aphex Twin music unlocks some creative part of me like nothing else in existence quite does. My writer's block fades away with every song. Props to the best to ever do it, Richard D James!~
Same, first song that hit me was "On" when i was a little kid watching mtv & viva at night. Then i forgot the name for years but always kept the melody in my head. Never forget that day I found this track and listened it again...
Thanks for posting this. I've been listening to Aphex Twin for years now, and this playlist has gotten my bf curious about his work. Hope he falls in love with it as much as I do. This is a great mix.
Thanks. I've been listening to this for the past week and a half to fall asleep to while the fractal zoom lights up my room like a lava lamp. Pretty nice
@@lostpattern9407 Im sorry, if Ive offended someone. Maybe its my English, but a) I havent commented anyones physica, but picture b) maybe Ive got the style wrong c) I havent 'girled' anyone
@@thomasley7178 I'm familiar with the 2nd volume of Selected Ambient Works by Richard D. James, believe it or not. At 30 I feel like I'd have to have been living under a rock for most of my life to not be familiar with it in some fashion. It was in jest.
28 organ has to be a standout track for me. It reminds me of "Alberto Balsam" or "Windowlicker", because it is basically a beautiful pop song but also contains weirdness and complexity.
As an artist and publisher, his music inspired me to be more interesting and original! His music changed my life forever! Friend, thanks for the selection!
There is an article about him out there called 'unidentifiable emotions'. like yourself i think it pretty much hits the nail on the head, his work leaves you guessing just what emotion it is you are experiencing.
one of the best pieces of music i heard , and i've heard some in my 41 years , i basically can listen to any music , it doesn't matter what genre , i like this and so does my SubPac S2 , the bass in this is amazing , it feels like Drum&Bass-light , nice flows and a good ear for music
Nice mate, I am proud there’s still people with taste and musical education. Aphex Twin is god for me so thanks for this religious theme like if it was a new part of the neu testament. Regards and salute!
