The song is about the Roman general Arminius (real name Hermann) who betrayed the Roman’s to defend his homeland in Westfalen, and he defeated the Roman’s and kept them out of Germany forever. In other words, he is a hero to our people!
Basically, if Rome won the battle, it would’ve altered history extremely. Germans east of the rhine would become romanized, and Germanic people would never extend and create/mix and diverge with many cultures.
It's about Ariovistus, a German, who was the son of one of the Germanic tribe chieftans. He was taken away from his family by the Romans who tried to conquer and annex German territory. When Ariovistus was old enough, he learned about his heritage and turned on the Romans and the Romans never really crossed the Rhine river mich after that.
Ok real talk what are they talking about here? Is this some sort of commemoration of old Germanic tribe? Are they celebrating the crushing of Roman Legions in Teutoburg Forest or something? It has to be something to do with old germanic tribes.
Hier in Dortmund spielt das geilste Team der Welt, das kann jeder wohl verstehen. Unsre Farben die sind schwarz gelb, denn blau weiß können wir nicht sehen. Die Uissen sind super. :D
Lippe ist nicht Westfalen…Also seid ihr gar nicht von hier, wenn ihr singt, dass ihr stolz drauf seid, Westfalen zu sein! 😂 Man kann wirklich drüber streiten, ob das Lied eine gelungene Art ist, den Hermann zu ehren…Sieht für mich leider nach dem Gegenteil aus - sorry! 👎
Also mein Hermann steht im Biosaal und liest von den Folien von 1978 ab und kennt nur einen Namen. Aber ich backe trotzdem gerade einen Kuchen für unsern Hermonn. Mein Hermann ist ein Denkmal und deshalb geht er auch nicht (in Rente).
