My Grandfather was a member of the American Air Corps. He was proud of it. So proud that he had it inscribed on his epitaph. Stationed in England after Pearl Harbor somewhere South of London. He was *probably* ; *mostly* Bavarian with a Welsh surname. Met his wife in Bavaria(Weimar). His father had practiced fine German calligraphy. He had a fondness for some things that were German. Was purported to have smashed some of his old German records in a fit of rage. Was otherwise a really measured guy. Never saw combat per-se but probably heard at least one V1 buzzbomb plus whatever throughout the course of his service. Lost friends. Missed the birth of at least one of his children. Bright guy. Worked with electricity. Well that's my little tale. *flexes triumphantly*

I'm Swedish, and when i was young my dad used to say jokingly "if the allies hadn't won the war, we'd all be speaking German by now!". Fast forward to now, and our country is eaten up from the inside out by muslims, meanwhile i'm studying German at uni. I mean, think of all the work that could've saved me 😂 Nah but fr tho, my country is suffering :c
@Pax_Luca I was born and raised in the muslim part of russia(both my parents are nominally muslim), and there are much more hijabs in Stockholm right now than there were in my hometown when i was a kid, i hope you guys will take your country back in your hands because those muslim guys are simply mad, and your government gives them citizenship and pays them for their madness

Dein Opa wurde in seiner Kindheit mit diesem Lied beeinflusst sich dem NS Regime zu unterwerfen, für die NSDAP zu kämpfen und sich zu opfern. Ihm wurde mit so einem Lieb in der Jugend klargemacht, dass der Tod durch Kämpfen und den Krieg nichts schlimmes ist. Es ist traurig, dass er so sehr beeinflusst wurde, dass er immernoch glaubt, dieses Lied und der Hintergrund dieses Liedes sei etwas erfreuliches.

Have you noticed that Germans have that "War DNA" in them, in every battle all over the world they were always there. The term "German" originated among ancient Romans calling the Chatti and Cherusci tribesmen "War men/Guerra Men/German". In my observation, Nazism or any of it's iterations can be very appealing to people deprived of basic necessities. It took an inflation and the treaty of versaille to lure many German to Nazism.

National Socialism, like many other movements, only came to prominence as a result of the financial depravity. It is normal for movements during times of despair. But it was never a phenonem advocating so called “radicalism”. It was a German worldview rooted in the works of German philosophers, from Schopenhauer, to Darwin. It was a movement 200 years in the making, that was deeply engraved in the German soul. It advocates for an independent European system that caters to the brilliant European soul, away from enslaving cosmopolitans in the west and blood thirsty communists in the East.
You just totally made that up to pretend you're smart, when you're obviously dumb to think the Romans used the words "guerra" or "men" (nice fail combining different languages too). Germans weren't always the toughest either. Like they got penetrated by the Huns/Hungarians and fled to other parts of Europe for a while.
It is indeed à beautiful march. I even understand some people can feel à certain feeling of nostalgia. The 'organisation' of Nazi Germany was ....let's say, 'attractive' for a majority of the ( European) German people. And they found indeed the 'identical value' they lacked.
