More videos please! Care tips from the easiest to the hardest, thick leaves vs soft thin leaves as well as the identification of leaf spots etc. Thank you! Great video trellising tips!
Thank you for your amazing videos, I have learned so much! Now I know why my Carnosa has this huge node with lots of stems growing from it. Because it was growing down
I just found your videos and they are so helpful! I have been growing house plants for many years. A few weeks ago I picked up my first Hoya. Then I bought another. This video has been so helpful. I bought a few ladder trellis that are 16” tall. I think I will order the bigger size since one of the Hoya I have is a Macrophylla variegated. There are 3 plants in the pot and after watching this video I realized how large this plant could get. Again, thank you for all the great information. I have been looking at all the different Hoya on your website. This could turn into an addiction! 😂
You have all of the knowledge! Repotting? Soil/substrate ideas? How to fertilize, when to tell if you hoya needs water? Tons of great topics we would love being taught by you!!
I watched your trellis video, episode 1 when i have only 2 hoyas to try....and they are successful in their growth and both flowered in 13 months from they were very tiny...thanks to being trellised with all the knowledge you gave us...and now guess what? I have 20 hoyas total, maybe close to 30 including doubles or triples...too bad youre too far from Toronto Canada...i would like to visit your greenhouse in person...is it even open to the public? I like to buy in person and not import so i frequent plant nurseries here in my community...thank you again, i hope to see more videos from you its been over 8 months since that time i saw your last one...maybe talk about caring for hoyas without grow lights, cabinet or tents which is becoming the trend ...i only grow my hoyas next to my windows, spring summer and fall are great, but i still dont move them away from the windows during our long winter months from December to March which can be minus10 to minus 20 Celsius which is harsh to my hoyas...but i find that they have acclimitize to our cold winter...just very little watering so they dont freeze and hold off fertilizer as they seem to be dormant or resting so i give them time to not do much work...but as soon as April comes, I start to water more and give half strenght water soluble fertilizer every 2 wks for 3 months, then reduce to once monthly till November...boy oh boy i can see they just grow so fast being awaken from their slumber....im just very vigilant about pests, checking under the leaves, nooks and cranies ...prevention is better than cure philisophy ...im a retired nurse so i learned that from my profession...
How can I buy plants from you? I saw your series of videos with Legends of monstera. So I know you sell your plants I don't know how to purchase any or just see a list of what you have for sale. I love the energy that you have for your plants and for sharing information about them! You are such a wonderful addition to the Plant World here on RU-vid. I'm in my early 70s and I know a lot about gardening outside and about house plants. When I was your age the only information you could find work in books or magazines or by Word of Mouth at Mom and Pop greenhouses. I don't think there's ever been a time in my life where I didn't have house plants or a garden with flowers and or vegetables. After a while probably in the 80s on talk radio came in to being and cable TV had gardening shows another whole world open be able to find information about specific plants and gardening design. Now RU-vid and other social media sites have caused a huge explosion and information about the care of plants and about a whole other world of plants for Home and Garden but most people did not know about. I fell in love with orchids and have about 60 in the past 3 years and I've learned a lot about them. I've fallen in love with angel wing begonias and have a huge collection of them and they're going to outgrow my house pretty soon along with my newly-acquired addiction to Hoya plant World. And you I'm open my eyes the most to the beauty of this wonderful plant. I don't even care if I have duplicate their just beautiful beautiful plant. So I would love to acquire some new little guys and I am so much looking forward to learning from you about these glorious plants. I learned so much about orchids in the past 3 years and I've been able to get them to rebloom and be healthy from a few people on RU-vid. So I'm hoping I'll learn another huge cache of info on this plant that's your love and that's the Hoya plant. I'm hoping to learn from you the way to get them to bloom but right now I'm willing to learn anything about this marvelous plant. The plant you showed at the beginning of this video is absolutely fantastic I have a couple tiny Hoya plants that were in 2 inch pots but I put in clay pot was just a tiny bit of osmocote fertilizer along with a little bit of orchid bark and potting soil. They now are about 18 in Long but the new shoot so to speak doesn't have very many leaves maybe a couple so I'm going to Trellis them and transfer them to a bigger pot but I realize they can't be put in a really big pot otherwise the soil will stay too wet. So after my orchid Adventure I'm now on a Hoya Adventure! Thank you thank you thank you for your videos I'm only three minutes into this video by the way so you may see another comment or two for me
Kathleen thank you so much for sharing! I am so impressed by your commitment to plants and I am excited for you to get into the world of Hoyas with me :) If there is anything you'd like to see just let me know and I will try to make a video on it (When I get the time). My website is actually linked above in the description, but here it is as well unsolicitedplanttalks.com/ Give those Hoyas some trellising and I'm sure you will get the new leaves you are looking for soon.
Yay! I am so happy that you were able to take some things away from our video. If you have any more specific questions you can email me at support@unsolicitedplanttalks.com and I will be happy to help!
I am following you from Italy. What a beautiful video and with such marvelous hoyas! Just magnificent! Please keep making new videos, they are the most useful ever! See how to do something is the best for me too. So thank you!
this Mathilde is my DREAM PLANT!!!! 🥰🥰🥰🤩🤩🤩😇😇😇😻😻😻 so beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i am so nervous to trellis my established H.australis but this video gave me a lot of confidence!!! 💖💖💖 thank you so much!!!!!!!
Burtoniae! They smell like rancid hamburger to me! Stinky. Another great educational video. Trellising hoyas is rewarding in my experience and you're giving great tips, here. Thank you!
So much great information. I learned so much thank you! Question......if my hoya has a ton of runners and those runners don't feel secure enough to grow leaves but I want it to be a hanging hoya how do I get around that issue?
Hi Elizabeth, that's a tough one. If the vines are long enough, you can loop it back temporarily and secure it to the hanger of the pot. Once it starts growing leaves and it is mature enough, you can let it hang. (At least that's what I would try)
This was very informative, thank you so much! I'm sorry if this is a silly question but is there a specific reason to why you have to wrap the vine counterclockwise
Great video! Great plants! i noticed that the tendrils of some of my hoyas dried off because I didn't use any trellis earlier. I wonder if these clips can damage the stems, as they embrace the trellis so tight there is no place for the stems to grow, they may be squeezed and damaged, no? I try not to use them
Yes, it can damage them if used on a soft stem (newest growth/stem). We use the clips on areas where the stems are a bit harder already so the new growths are not affected. We only us 1-3 clips throughout the plant whether big or small to prevent too much constrictions. We move the clips around as the plant grows 🥰 I hope this helps!
What if you HAVe wrapped the vines too tight (in the beginning of my plant journey) But the plant is really huge, about 3 feet, beautiful big leaves??? should I try to take the clips out and losen the vines? Uugh! I’m so afraid it’s gonna die at some point. Hope this wasn’t confusing! It’s a pubicalyx splash. Actually, you just showed exactly what has happened to mine, with the extra shoots 😂 So that must be why it looks so beautiful! I’m just afraid unwrapped and looped too tight on some areas! The plastic little clips are the best!
No need to undo them ☺️ just let them do their thing when they continue to grow and twist them the right direction. They’re very forgiving and that’s why I love them 💚
