SUMMARY:
The Dragon’s triangle is the area enclosed by three regions in the Pacific Ocean. One corner of the triangle is in Taiwan, the second is in Miyake-jima Island, and the third is in Iwo-jima island. And in this triangular area, there are many notable stories about vanishing vessels.
Holding a demolish reputation, Devil’s sea has been identified for its unusual phenomena for centuries, if records are to be believed. This area in the Pacific Ocean has been in the news for decades, and stories have been passed from generation to generation.
Dragon triangle has puzzled marine experts, and scared seafarers as many vessels have gone missing, and none of the incidents have been explained. Actually, there is no evidence to explain the cause.
One such incident happened in the late 1200s. Kublai Khan, the fifth great khan of the Mongol empire, tried entering Japan through the Devil’s sea and lost 40000 crews and many vessels in the triangle. And this incident set up a belief in Japan that it’s God’s way to save them from enemies. Was the Universe playing its role to protect Japan?
This belief of the Japanese didn’t last long. Several Japanese vessels also disappeared in the Dragon’s triangle. So, if that’s God’s way of protecting Japan, why Japanese vessels disappear? Numerous vessels are suspected of lying under the triangle. Nobody knows if there are ruins left underneath the water or not. If not, where has it gone? We might never know the answer to any of these questions, at least to date.
It is said that the water of the Devil’s Sea is capable of swallowing ships with crews. This has stayed in the news for decades. With the increasing number of mysterious events, it got the Japanese name, Ma-No-Umi, which is translated to Sea of The Devil. Since then Japanese are afraid to go close to that area.
Another story that made people talk about the unanswered spot on the Pacific Ocean is a mysterious lady. Some people claim that they have witnessed a lady sailing on the water of Devil’s Sea in the 1800s. They asserted, she was sailing a vessel that resembled the traditional equipment which Japanese use for burning incense. The lady and direction where the vessel was headed are unknown. The strange shape of the boat and lady sailor is a story that is even told today.
There are records of mysterious events in the Dragon’s triangle. In between 1940s to 1950s many vessels, including 5 military vessels disappeared leaving no clue to trace.
It was then in 1952 when the Japanese Government finally decided to investigate the triangle. The Government sent Kiao Miyake no.5 ship on the research. Though this mission was very risky, the Government urged to find the answer. Unfortunately, history repeated. The ship with 31 crew members got out of contact and was never seen again. The Japanese Government’s attempt to solve the Devil’s sea mystery failed.
After this unprecedented incident, the government of Japan declared this place as too dangerous for marine voyaging and transporting goods. All research was dismissed, and there won’t be any investigations in years to come.
