I know I'm two years late but back when I was a kid I was absolutely terrified of the "Herobrine" sightings and was afraid he was in my world. I was so scared I would think I seen him in the corner of my eye. However now that I'm older and know its just a myth, I have a theory. I think "Herobrine" was meant to be a neighbour npc that you could visit or perhaps someone you meet on your journeys and they offer to assist you with your tasks like they'd hold torches in the caves or help with battles and would leave you once you no longer needed them.

Dream: *talks about herobrine* Veterans: *Puffs smoke* “Haven’t heard that name for a long time”

Minecraft peaceful mode: *exists* Herobrine: *we don’t do that here*

I actually think I saw him. Back in 2015. I had logged off a survival world for a while, but like 3 weeks later, I rejoined an my chat said “player has left game” my area was messed up, and I saw that odd Herobrine spawn, it freaked me out but I didn’t know who he was back then. It haunted me to this day.

The only weird thing that has happened in my years of playing is one time, I was digging out a room in a mountain for a base (not very big, just a 9 X 9 area) I left to go do something else (I think I was looking for a igloo?) and when I came back, a whole other room was dug out at the back of the room, a 6 X 2 room with stairs leading down to it. I still don’t know what it was, my best guess was just a creeper explosion.

Personally, i really agree with Sapnap. When i was a kid, i believed hardcore in Herobrine. I used to dedicate worlds to “summoning” him, and would spend HOURS trying to “summon” him and trying to find anything that’ll summon him.

Yeah, I thought Herobrine was real as a kid. I built shrines to him in various worlds trying to get him to show up, and watched a few clickbait RU-vid videos on the whole thing back in the day. I never saw anything strange myself though.

What if all those cave sounds or eerie noises we can hear underground was connected to Herobrine and mojang would later add Herobrine as a rare mob or something in future updates? Guess we'll never know.

I remember when I was 8 years-old playing Minecraft, I found a random tree with no leaves on it. I assumed it was a bug. But I also remember that sometimes my items in my chest would be missing. Bug or Herobrine? There were no more sightings after that moment the only thing was items missing and one tree with no leaves. I kind of doubt that someone did it and it was a bug and the items missing were probably me seeing things but this video convinced me that if MIGHT be Herobrine.

I think that if Herobrine is in the game, it has an extremely rare spawn chance. That is, if it is a mob capable of being in multiple worlds at once, or a mob at all. What if Herobrine a singular, unique, and distinctive entity that can only exist in one players world at a time. This would explain why sightings of the anomaly are slim to none. As an old Minecraft veteran, I used to play the game on my PlayStation 3, and when I join my old Minecraft worlds, there was a skin that was Herobrine. I liked to use the skin, but then a few months or years later, the skin had been removed.

one time my friend described to me someone in her survival world with her friend, at the time she didn't know what it was but she described it as a figure with white eyes, and her other friend told her to run as fast as she could in the game.I got so freaked out when she told that to me.

I remember once I saw Herobrine. I was at a friends house on his Xbox in 2014 and we were in his strip mine when we noticed someone behind us. We ran screaming and whenever we turned around we saw he was closer but I don’t think we saw him move. It could’ve been his older brother messing with us but when he checked there were only two players in the game, and we would’ve seen him join, right?

this reminded me of a story of me and my brother, where we were building a massive oak house in creative, in a superflat world, back when, on mobile, the background to the main menu was dirt and the loading screen was a green bar, and somehow the entire build was in flames. i yelled at my brother, but he said that it wasnt him, and it mustve been herobrine. to this day, i dont believe him, but he still says that he didnt light it on fire.

My theory goes with yours, Dream. But mine extends a little. I think that yes, Herobrine is a glitch, and every update, Mojang would try and remove Herobrine. But, when they fixed his glitch, they would open up another glitch, through which he would again pop out into players' worlds. This kept going on till 1.16, when they finally patched his glitch with perfection, not leaving another glitch for him to appear with. And this happened just coincidentally around Herobrine's 10-Year Anniversary.

Herobrine is 1% actually glitches, 99% seeing something out of the corner of your eye or forgetting something and filling in the gaps.

If they put ‘Added Herobrine’ in the update notes, imagine how much everyone would freak out.

I remember playing survival once in a single player world and I putted a shulker box in one of my chests and I went to the End to find some endcitys. I came back and my shulker box was gone. R.I.P ShulkerBox

minecraft 1.4.1 was playing with my stepbrother david, i was in a ravine. We stopped playing that map for 2 or 3 weeks. We played again, i went inside a ravine, and when i turned around, i saw a steve npc walking like nothing accross the ravine. he said it, you turn around and you barely see him, thats what he did to me. played from 2012 to 2017......

I kinda had a weird experiences with my village. I tried to make like city with laws. I took a break and when I hoped back on. The village was destroyed. And last time I played I was in the nether. So it was weird when I was in the village destroyed. I explored the village for survivors and found a sighn saying. "Deleate this world. Your not above the law." The end.

in the aquatic update there is an underground statue in the tutorial world of what is seemingly a zombi but the eyes are glowing & the zombi statue is out in the desert semi buried in the sand this statue is located near spawn down a hole surrounded by cobblestone there is also an underwater entrance in the the ravine by the tropical fish statue

I still remember when I was like 6 years old, I loaded into a singleplayer world in creative mode and I spawned like 5 blocks away from three trees WITHOUT leaves and I got scared and I don't exactly remember what I did to the world but I never played it again. It looked exactly like 6:25

Hi, I also saw herobrine in my Survival World, I wasnt playing it for like days now, And I returned and see a big box hole, Villages on the forest, and Temples, My horse textures are missing too, I’ve last seen him On my house and took all my Items.

I miss this series, I wish he brought it back

my theory of why they didnt add removed herobrine in 1.16 is because at that time glitches were famous and bugs were common and my theory is that mojang used herobrine as a excuse to not show they're poor coding in the beginning and when the community started using glitches there was no use in using herobrine as a excuse anymore

Herobrines eyes where said to be white for a reason. The eyes in the player model are farther back, and Herobrine was standing just in the render distance so the fog went where his eyes where

I think the "removed herobrine" on the update logs just meant bug fixes, that's something mojang would do

Maybe the creators only added it. First they thought of making it boss of the game but after that, they used him like a ghost to attract Minecraft players to it, as you can see what people are doing now on him.

idk actually, when i was a kid i had an experience when i was running in cloudy weather and thought i saw someone on the right of my screen. didnt get to check cause i was immediately killed by lightning. I have no idea if this was just an insane coincidence or something but im still unsure today

i swear i have actully seen hero brine before! i was in a flat world 2017, and i was in a village. it was turning nighttime and at my window. i saw herobrine. now i didn’t know who he was and i was with my brother. and he told me.

people probably see weird things "after updates" because when a update happens terrains wolrds get bigger caves change seeds change and that's probably why people all sightings of herobrine are fake a friend with the herobrine skin and in creative but the world changes are just seed changes from updates because terrains change and seeds become bigger. but in the interview section who else was looking in the backround for "herobrine". (but it probably would just be a friend)

i remeber a weird thing that happend in minecraft that might or might not be herobrine. In 2014 or 2025 i kept looking how my dad played minecraft on his mac and he even made a cool cave system, and inside the cave system there was this weird big black hole… You couldnt see the bottom of it but you could see the top which simply had an opening to the overworld, but when i tried playing for myself i could find the hole in the overworld, but it was in the cave system… the hole was also very weird becouse if you try to walk off into the pit, it wouldnt let you, as if there were barier blocks. it was very confusing and my dad called it simply a glitch, but i dont think it was a glitch…

I have a small theory Like you said, Herobrine is responsible for glitches and bugs that happen within the game. He is the rare mob that appears with bugs or glitches. Herobrine is a glitch/bug Now like every game, Minecraft doesn't like bugs and glitches, since they ruin the game's own function, so they fix them every update, but they said that in other words. Since Herobrine is a bug, they say "Removed Herobrine" witch means that they removed glitches and bugs. Now the reason why so they didn't did it in the 1.16 update idk. I think it's lore related. They are surely trying to reveal even more the lore and herobrine's part, but they are doin it slowly. That was the first step. Not including a small detail that they were adding since 2012, 10 years before the 1.16 update. They did it on that update, since it reached 10 years of it. Maybe we are gonna get more lore related details about Herobrine, but again, that's just my theory

Bro I dont know if this was herobrine or not but one time me and my friends were playing in a new world and we were swimming in the ocean and next an island in the water we saw a 5x5 of every color of dyed water we checked and there was no coral reefs or anything close that would give an effect like that.

when i was little i played Minecraft, i still do, but i opened single player creative game, and i was roaming around and i saw a zombie killing someone (on creative), it was Steve, so i killed the zombie, but he still had irises so i thing it was a glitch but i never said anyone had joined the game and he didn't have a name tag. if anyone has an explanation pls tell. didn't think too much into it, but now I'm hearing about this idk maybe it was just a glitch.

I dont think its glitches, I remember feeling watched when playing on some worlds, finding tunnels near my base and seeing name tags flash for a second as they dissapear. I also got the one with a whole forests missing leaves. That shit was real but very rare These must have been like 5 occourences in 3000 hours...

Let's be real guys, herobrine was just the then in the process of being removed 'Human Mob' that was still trying to spawn because of a glitch. Alpha was full of bugs and that would explain the random tunnels and holes. (and the trees) In a way, herobrine was real but just a glitch, not a monster that will attack you or spawn with superpowers exploding everything. There's no demi-god ghost in minecraft and there never was, what existed was a game still in-development. Mojang (mainly Notch back then) enjoyed the hype the game got from the myth and kept adding the -Removed Herobrine thing in updates both as a joke to make people chill out AND an actual update since they were still removing the code of the human mob. (its true, check the human mob wiki)
