Interesting culture. I like the rustic life in Romania. So simple. So smooth. No complication. Families are self- sufficient. The old women are robust and look healthy.
It was wonderful to see country people live so much the same as I was raised in the country too with no electricity or running water. We country folks are connected by the land that provides for us as country folks…..it is beautiful to see. I wish you might add captions in English,,,I never have learned other languages,,,and I could have learned so much more. Thank you for sharing your adventures in this wonderful land.
Interesting to see the customs and cultures. I live in United States and sometimes I think our country is falling apart. Romania seems peaceful and the people kind.
Ecologically friendly living. OMG, this us real. We don't have to use this modern technology to survive. The traditional way is less complicated, less toxic, no harsh chemicals, no expensive electric bill to pay.
Old tradition in tact, country rustic life, decent clothing, healthy food, cow's milk and chicken eggs everyday, freshly- picked fruits and veggies, meat cooked in wood and charcoal, mineral water from the mountain spring, unpolluted surroundings, no garbage here and there, farmlands, trees and plants - the BEST, only the best for me.
@@tonyofarrell2775 I think they mean simple as in closer to nature, old and self-sustaining, without the crazy things and hobbies we have in cities, just spending time outside, working the land, working with animals, hand crafting.
I wish people in the west could have maintained more traditional values. Spinning wool, weaving, living in community. The environment wouldn't be so ruined, and people who do not want to live in a commercial environment would have a place to go to learn these ways.
This is Maramures in northern Romania.It's a beautiful scenic part of Romania ,but they are a unique people with their own customs and traditions.All of Romania is not like this,

All looks "wonderful" because it is not wintertime......There is much to say good about the "simple life" but you will see that most of the older folks no longer have any teeth....they are half crippled from decades of very hard work........There is a place for "modernity" and a place for the traditional ways of life; the answer is to live modestly in the modern way but with respect for environment and nature for the other half of that lifestyle which may give u a good quality of life. Love the videos; just need language subtitles for global distribution......thank you for this film.
I am Romanian and I don't promote tourism in my country. To remain authentic must remain isolated. "Civilised world" is already fucked up. Tourism will make life more expensive and will destroy beautiful landscapes with touristic buildings in places supposed to remain green. Places will become overcrowded. If you love Romania DON'T promote it. There are things that money can't buy! Authenticity, traditions and freedom in your land!
I notice the shoes worn by the old women. They could have been hand- made by them. I like that kind of living. Not complex. Not quite stressful, unlike life in the city where every minute, every centavo, every energy spent counts. Lifestyle in the city is nice if you are rich, but for the poor, it's a struggle.
most of their traditional 'port' or costume is handmade and kept as a heirloom in the family for generations. My grandmother is from Vrancea in Moldova and after she died I inherited her traditional costume. It dates to the 50s from what my grandfather says. It is a treasure indeed.

It's a religious belief that women should wear something on their head while inside the church, but a lot of old women wear it 100% of the time because they are usually more religious and think it's a good thing, as well as because it covers your ears from the wind and old people believe that if the cold wind enters your ears you will be ill and get certain pain like head aches and sinus pain, and while there is some truth to it, they really exaggerate with covering their ears, to the point that they will stick cotton in their ears kinda like earbuds to protect them from the wind.
Why not? Romanians are very friendly people and very helpful ,this is northern Romania ,not far from the Ukraine.I have visited there ten times now ,and never any problems

Organic farmers are pushing back, but the EU doesn't get it.

I don't speak French but I understood everything you wrote because of the familiarity of the language. Romanian is a Latin language after all. Plus we study French in school and before communism, French was the language of our intelectuals, most of whom studied in Paris and other French universities, alongside Viena and Berlin. I had to read a lot of French for my studies in university and didn't have many difficulties understanding it.
