Sione, I was so impressed by the way in which you conducted this emotional interview that I liked and subscribed immediately. The love and respect that you showed to Manu proves that you are a blessing to others. As a guy that came from a broken home whilst living in a state house in Porirua and having nothing, I have now been working as a Prison Officer in Perth for nearly 25 years. I have seen the best and worst of society. Manu, even after 25 years of working in maximum security, I don't look down on you. In fact, I am more inspired by you now than when you were wreaking havoc down the sideline. You definitely have the goods to rise to the top in your next chapter of life and I look forward to hearing all about it. I have been going through some crazy stuff lately and really needed to see this podcast. Thanks heaps Sione and Manu🙏
When he said he thought more of the mistakes he's done than the good things is a mindset that I really hate and struggle with. Its sad to see the guy I used to shout his name whenever he gets the ball go through this. Hey Manu if you see this comment, I want you to know you weren't/aren't the only one going through this, but I want you to know because you are and idol of my mine and to many others out there, seeing you still striving through life makes us wanna strive the same as you. This interview was so motivational, thank you to the host and to everyone that made this happen. Subscribed instantly looking forward to future interviews!!! Stay positive and strong everyone UP THE WAHS!!!! 💯
True strength of character doesn’t come when you’re at the top of your game, but from adversity when you’re at the lowest point of your life. Rise Up and fulfill your dreams Manu!
Thank you for being part of the people that are out here making a safe space for our Polynesian men to speak up & show their emotions. May your journey ahead be filled with hope & happiness Manu🩶
Stay strong Manu. We all make mistakes toko, even those journalists who want to report on your downfall. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. I know you will rise again. Great interview Sione. You done a great job sole. I'm proud of you for overcoming your battles as well.
Once a warrior always a warrior.. not only are you a great warrior/kiwi/tongan rugby league player.. your also a great human being.. i love you brother and thsnk you for everything you provided putting on the league jersey.. up the wahs 💚💙❤️
I'm not going to judge this guy, but I'm also not going to praise him, just because he was a sporting idol in NZ.. Just want to try and put into context here. The damage and hurt that people like him do to society is irreparable. The main driving force is predominantly greed. As a proud American Polynesian growing up in the tough neighbourhoods of San Bernardino, California, and witnessing first hand the destruction that these drugs can do to individuals, families and society causes utter devastation. Witnessing people hooked on the drugs these guy's peddle. Users turning to crime eg killings, robberies, home invasions etc to finance their addictions. Although he was once a sporting role model. That shouldn't give him a free pass. However i do applaud him for being brave enough too front up to the camera, and i sincerely hope he's realised the errors of his ways. Time will tell, I'll reserve my judgement.
Kia kaha kia maia kia manawa nui manu at the end of the day your just another brother from another mother we will always remember the beast!!!! Who kept us on the edge with those storming runs i hope your health and family are well jah bless and guide💪😎💚💛❤️
I had no idea what to expect when I put this on. But I really appreciate the honesty in Manu’s responses. But also love Sione’s heavy and hard hitting questions. This was such a great interview so raw that I found myself tearing up for Manu. Manu you are so loved not just by your family and friends but also the community around you. Thank you for opening up yourself to us. I know it would have been very hard, but this will reach a young man out there also struggling. Thank you gentlemen. I literally had to pull the car over to write this and compose myself because I was so emotional for Manu. You will always be a legend mate.
Thank you both for unveiling a very real aspect of the unspoken reality that men not just Polynesians - experience in the difficulties of openly sharing in tough times for fear of judgment. Massively applaud brother Sione for this platform as well as brother Manu for sharing 😊his powerful testimony - which am certain will reach many… thank you both once again the ability to be open and raw throughout the dialogue. Mad love and respect brothers 🙏❤️
No one understands what a man’s going through or why they do what they do, they first grip onto the negative and bring them down, until you understand, don’t assume because it’s not your fight your fighting, your just watching!! Love brother manu ❤️
Bro inspired me since I was 10, probably the reason why I picked up the footy and trained to be a beast winger 🙌🏽🙌🏽 didn’t get the nrl break I dreamed off but still to this day my favourite player 🔥🔥 THE BEAST 👌🏾🦍🦍
Keep your head up Manu, you have nothing to be ashamed off, ur courage will lift the mana of many of your peers and those who love you. Stay strong brother!!!! Kia kaha kōrua

Salute to the great Sione for such a heartfelt interview. And a salute for a role model, mentor and NRL great Manu Vatuvai for talking about your journey. Weather it be bad or good, I’ll always remember you as great athlete and role model regardless. Salute.
So happy you did your interview with Sione. 😢 sometimes the lord puts you in his silence and removed you from the world. What you did was wrong. But life moves even when others don't want it to for you. It will always go around the sun Another chance to live a day, cherish your closest ones and live your life. Live your life Manu.
I applaud you Manu for your bravery in speaking out about your life experiences & journey. Takes a REAL MAN to open up hidden wounds, please dont be embarrassed you have alot more support then you think. God see's the good in you, nothing but love for you. You are still THE BEAST in our eyes 💯 Psalms 147:3

`Manu bro, so much aroha to you. Thank you for your kōrero. Bro we make mistakes and spiral at least once in our lives and you have obviously learnt a lot through your journey. Always been proud of the person you are and were no matter what. You are human, no one is perfect but at least for those that learn are those who grow. You are still a legend, both of you guys. Thank you both. Arohanui
The beast !!!! Brother everyone makes mistakes , you made me yell and scream at my tv and in the grand stands for years in joy ! I’m glad you have overcome it all and come out the other side .. Goodluck
Love Manu. Beast on the field but this would have been tougher than anything he faced on the field. Its always how you bounce back from adversity. Thank you for telling his story.
As we all do as Men , helps us all identify the most familiar things we battle through in this life. We need to really sit down and unpack alot of mental emotions we go through . Its not whats on the outside , cause we carry it like a shield of protection that we as men are afraid to indulge in or feel vulnerable. It takes a heart to heal and fulfill another heart so in seeing this we appreciate our brothers/fathers for having the courage to sit down and talk about it our issues .
Powerful USOZ man always Love n Respect for you Manu you brought so much joy n pride to so many people throughout your career 💯❤ time to find your JOY now Toko God Bless you!! always ❤❤
' from the depths of your darkness, you rose manu '. Ur new journey is just beginning. Wish u all the best. May peace be upon u & urs...Manu ' The Beast ". 1Luv

Thank you for sharing a glimpse of what you've been thinking and going through.... Kia Kaha Manu, its heart sinking to know what you've gone through but I'm so happy to see that you're in the process of healing as well as have the immense amount of love and support. im just mamae ,what a platform to sharing on to and with a close brother aswell , just the warmth and respect . I just could feel the Aroha and mamae through my screen. 😭❤
the gangs are shit, the drugs are shit. These 2 things are what keep our people stuck in the cycle! Redeem yourself toko, give back to the community and make it up to your wife and kids for the rest of your life. 1 day at a time.❤️
This is your year manu your still a young man it's easy to see your a good man too so you ha e everything you need to get back on track, you got it uso
What you did or what you do does not define who you are. It takes a lot of courage to share what you been through. This is just the beginning for you Manu. Rooting for you! Your story does not end here.
Gosh someone is cutting lots of onions around here🥺. Manu I’ve always been a great fan of yours during your time with the Warriors and still absolutely am! You’re not a bad person, you just made some bad choices but that doesn’t define the good person that you are. We all make bad choices but it’s what we can learn and take from it that matters. Wishing you all the best of luck and I wholeheartedly believe that it’s only inwards and upwards from here. Wrapping you and your whanau in so much love🤎
You could tell that it took a lot for him to sit down and re-live some of that but it’s the only way to move forward is speak about it and let it out rather than bottled up like he did for a long time ! And what a perfect way to do so with none other than the uso who has been through similar pathway after footy. Thank you for this toko
Nothing but Aroha for the brothers. Love the Kaupapa your hoping to engage in with this platform. Our whanau need these voices spoken in an open forum.
Good to see you owning up to your mistakes uce! Your not alone, we all go though some shit in life, takes a man to stand up, own it! And bounce back to be a better person. Love 🙏
Jeez, did this one hit like David Tua's left... Not even all the way through it but the story, the feelings, all of it resonates so much. Big up Manu! It's not easy to bare your soul to the world like you have. You are clearly sorry for what you've done, but I think your best is still to come. Other young Polynesians will see this and look to you for guidance. And to you Sione, for opening this door for the people like Manu, and ultimately all Polynesians struggling to make something of this life. The respect and mana you have just beams right off you. Truly a blessing, looking forward to seeing more from this channel 🙏🙏
You will always be a Warrior to me Manu. " as a man you dont want to show your weakness to another man" .... Your a true Warrior Manu. You've opened up and now we understand. Keep your head up. Reset your spirit when you need to. We know this waka you are in. Much luv. Kia kaha uso. 👊
