Here in Germany I was extremely confused, when the 49ers suddenly played in 3Com Park😁. We were not used to name right deals. But meanwhile it is common in Germany, too and the few soccer stadiums still bearing their original names are pretty proud of this fact. Nevertheless, the fans call the places by their original names, given you are old enough to remember them. My thought: take the money and keep using the right name. Can't change the business anyway...

agree with you, same in the Czech Republic. Teams also need this money but they should choose their partners wisely. I always found that Gazprom does not fit Schalke for example meanwhile Allianz suit Bayern or Mercedes fit Stuttgart.

Stadium naming rights don’t mean jack. Live in Dallas, and most people here still call Cowboys stadium,Texas Stadium, and Rangers ballpark, The Ballpark in Arlington

I remember when the Arrowhead Pond was renamed to the Honda Center in Anaheim. The Pond was tied to the Ducks hockey team. The Honda Center? Always confusing it with the Toyota Center in Houston.

When Dr. Jerry Buss, the greatest team owner in the history of professional sports had the Fabulous Forum renamed The Great Western Forum a reporter asked him why he would do that. Dr. Buss asked the reporter his name (let's say it was Dave, I don't remember). Then Dr. Buss asked Dave if he would let him call him Ron (sic) for a day if he gave him $25,000. That's basically what's happening here, and it will make zero difference in wins and losses. I've been a Lakers fan since Magic Johnson was in junior high school and I couldn't care less about the name of the venue they play in.
